Speakers are plugged in usb to my MBP laptop. Set the settings per your suggestions above and sync in timeline is perfect on laptop screen. I appreciate all your help Derek. I'm going to sign off now and troubleshoot a bit more but also request a recapture from the source. I'll report back if I figure it out. Yeah, I figure it was in the capture but source is on the west coast, I'm on the east coast, was trying first to find a fix here. I did the export you recommended above and still out of sync. And yes, sync is good in timeline. I selected the (correctly sync'd) audio and video and Modify - Make Independent Clip but that didn't seem to do anything either. I cut it in a DV sequence and sync'd up the portion of the interview I wanted (about 2 seconds offset), linked the video and audio tracks and cut it into my current cut sequence (also DV). Upon exporting a Quicktime Conversion with the Broadband Medium setting the clip is out of sync. I get the audio I want but the video seems to be the actual videoby michelleVS - Café LA Re: fonts - 15 years agoAndys, thanks for your replies! By the time I saw them I'd already obtained the TrueType fonts and they work. Andy M, thanks for the alex4d link. fyi- your own attempt link didn't link for me. Michelleby michelleVS - Café LA fonts - 15 years agoI'm trying to get a family of fonts to appear in the FCP text generator. I have PostScript and OpenType and neither show up. Help says FCP reads only TrueType. Before I go bug my grfx guy again, can anyone confirm that this is what I should be asking for? Or should I be able to get one of the others to work? thx, michelleby michelleVS - Café LA Re: Editing from a DVD master - 15 years agosorry, I looked, couldn't find it in the faq. direct link? I will try the streamclip. thx!by michelleVS - Café LA Editing from a DVD master - 15 years agoHi there, Was wondering if anyone has edited from a DVD master. I tried importing a .vob file from a DVD and see nothing in the viewer. FYI - This is the client's DVD master, not a movie rental, and not a data DVD. I took the .vob from the TS Video folder. Any suggestions? Thanks mucho, Michelleby michelleVS - Café LA HD timeline, render render render... - 15 years agoHi. I'm working in FCP 6, HD timeline 23.98, compressor setting DVCPRO HD 720p60. I've got all sorts of DVCPRO HD footage in different frame sizes and frame rates, and I've got animation graphic backgrounds & transitions and jpeg screen grabs... V1 is a DVCPRO 29.97 background plate. V2 - V8 has all that mixed footage with text and transition graphics, etc. It's a visually busy pieceby michelleVS - Café LA 6.02 compatible with 5.1.4 via XML? - 16 years agoAnyone know if a project in 6.02 can be opened in 5.1.4? I went to the ranch and read that a newer version 6 could export an XML that an older version 6 could open but what about a version 5? Any insight, or a point in the right direction in FAQ would be appreciated. thxby michelleVS - Café LA workflow with HD & SD elements - 16 years agoHi there, I'm working in FCP 6. I have interview footage shot in HD and broll elements such as jpg still images and screen grabs off the internet. I need to deliver an HD and an SD final. Here's my question: if I work in an HD sequence and make a bunch of motion moves on the jpgs and screen grabs, when I downconvert it into an SD sequence the motion fx wig out. I understand why it does tby michelleVS - Café LA Re: how to add fx to "filler" - 16 years agoactually, I used your method, Derek. I was just sure there was an easier way (like my Avid way). but now that I've made it, I have it, and can use it again. it's all good. thx! Michelleby michelleVS - Café LA Re: how to add fx to "filler" - 16 years agoI have a graphic that I'm doing a 'basic motion' adjustment on - basically a push in. I added a widescreen filter to the shot and the letterbox moves with the push in. Of course, I want the letterbox to stay put. I feel like I'm missing something very obvious, one of those 'oh duh!' things and it's driving me nuts. Any suggestions? thx! mvsby michelleVS - Café LA how to add fx to "filler" - 16 years agoHi, this one should be quick. In Avid, if I have a clip on V1 and nothing on V2 I can add edits to V2 and lay an effect on it and it will affect the clip below it. how do I do this in FCP 6? thx! Michelleby michelleVS - Café LA Re: mixed format sequence crashes - 16 years agoThanks guys. Yeah, this is a corporate video and will end up on computer screens. I didn't digitize the footage. It was dig'd into the Avid b/c that's where the BetaSP deck is. I think it was input Animation b/c the director/producer comes from a graphics world and maybe goes with what he knows (?). They do all the digitizing and outputting themselves, no doubt to save money and not havby michelleVS - Café LA Re: mixed format sequence crashes - 16 years agoHalf the source footage came in m2v files from Europe, originally those were put directly in FCP. The other half of the footage came from BetaSP tapes digitized into Avid exported as QTs with Animation compression (I don't know why, that's what I discovered when I sat down to work after the project had been set up). I'm now converting the Animation QTs into DV/DVCPRO QTs. They look good. I'mby michelleVS - Café LA Re: mixed format sequence crashes - 16 years agoWow. Genius. Thanks!! You just made my day! I converted the m2v files in MPEG Streamclip to QT movs and they look great and play without rendering. I also figured out that my NTSC mov files were Animation codec which required them to be rendered in the DV/DVCPRO timeline. So I converted those as well. Now all is as it should be. Thank you strypes. And to all - I forgot toby michelleVS - Café LA mixed format sequence crashes - 16 years agoHi, I have a DV/DVCPRO - NTSC sequence with .m2v PAL and .mov NTSC footage. All footage had to be rendered in the timeline. I've been working on it for 2 days with no problems then all of a sudden today FCP crashes continuously. I'm working in FCP 6. The show is less than 4 minutes and pretty straight forward, not FX heavy at all. I've never mixed PAL & NTSC in FCP nor worked with m2by michelleVS - Café LA |
