Also considering the Pegasus R4 or J6, just wish I could use the drives I have instead of buying it with them. Pegasus seem to be the fastest plug and play array out there. Anyone use the Areca ARC 8050 ? Looks like a reasonable option but can't find a lot of real world users thaby pbovee - Café LA - X Re: RAID for iMac - 10 years agoIt seems I'm in the same boat that you were Mitchell, (8months ago that is) Just curious, what did you go with and how's it working.by pbovee - Café LA - X Re: Premiere Pro/iMac Upgrade Questions - 10 years agoSeems like CC does have some advantages.by pbovee - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Premiere Pro/iMac Upgrade Questions - 10 years agoDefinitely leaning towards the iMacs, but will have them decked out with 32gb of RAM and the best graphics card they offer. I've been looking all day at external storage solutions. The Promise Tech. Pegasus looks like a decent unit, I just wish I could utilize all the 4tb drives I already have instead buying what they come with. Now looking into Areca Arc - 8050 8 bay units. Yes, the classroomby pbovee - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Premiere Pro/iMac Upgrade Questions - 10 years agoThanks for the input ClayC. I'd like to keep all options open but I don't think I can abandon the Mac platform, they just work too good too easily. I'm also torn on waiting for the new Mac Pro but we would really like to upgrade before moving on to some big projects this fall, so how long do we wait? A week, 2 months? who knows. You're right though, the price will be deciding factor when it doesby pbovee - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Premiere Pro/iMac Upgrade Questions - 10 years agoThank you for the information Jude and Strypes, I will likely be back with more questions as I continue my research on hardware.by pbovee - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Premiere Pro/iMac Upgrade Questions - 10 years agoAfter a lot of deliberation and procrastinating, we've decided to upgrade our antique (2006) Mac Pros and FCP7. After some research I've come to believe that Premiere Pro is the way to go for us and despite the great debate over Creative Cloud, I think we'll cross our fingers and jump on board. My first question is about PP training. We've been using Final Cut for about 6 years and by no meansby pbovee - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Strange 'Close Gap' (Ctrl-G) behavior - 13 years ago3 out of 5 systems are now having this problem here all the same versions I mentioned above. The most recent one started right after the latest pro app update. Maybe thats the root of the problem. Either way I'll probly be trained to highlight gap and delete by time the issue is resolved.by pbovee - Café LA Re: Strange 'Close Gap' (Ctrl-G) behavior - 13 years agoNick Meyers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > is it something you can make happen? > if you make a new sequence with multiple tracks, > and more than one gap, > does trying to close the second gap close the > first? Yes, If I make a new sequence and there is only one track of video.... no problem As soon as I add video to a second track...by pbovee - Café LA Re: Strange 'Close Gap' (Ctrl-G) behavior - 13 years agoVery interesting indeed. And yes thats what I did.by pbovee - Café LA Re: Strange 'Close Gap' (Ctrl-G) behavior - 13 years agoSame problem on FCP 7.0.2, close gap was working on this same project, same sequence previously, all of the sudden it's not working. This project is NOT updated from an earlier version. Tried trashing prefs but it didn't solve the issue. I have tracked it down to being only sequences with multiple tracks of video, A sequence with video on only one track the "close gap" works just fineby pbovee - Café LA Re: What still image to use in FCP ? - 14 years agoIt is 8bit RGB is that right? When I import into FCP the part that should be transparent is white, but open that same file in PS and its transparent.by pbovee - Café LA Re: What still image to use in FCP ? - 14 years agoOK, I'll check settings, just wanted to make sure it should work.by pbovee - Café LA Re: What still image to use in FCP ? - 14 years agoThanks Derek. I'm still on FCP 5.1.4 are TIFFs supposed to work in this version? I've tried but they just come in black.by pbovee - Café LA What still image to use in FCP ? - 14 years agoWhat's the best format to use when creating images in Photoshop for use in FCP with transparency. .psd seems to work fine but I'd rather not have it as a sequence.by pbovee - Café LA Edit suite upgrade [DV-HDV] - 14 years agoMaking the upgrade from primarily DV production to HDV. Currently our systems are like this. Mac Pro 2.6 dual core Intel Xeon 2gb RAM 3-500gig Seagate Internal drives Too Many Firewire externals OS 10.4.11 FCP Studio 1 Sony HDV firewire deck JVC SD Broadcast Monitor So from the research we've done so far this is what we're thinking. FCP Studio 2 - This seems like a must, as we mayby pbovee - Café LA Re: Exporting still image with transparent background. - 14 years agoYes, I have tried unrendered as well as rendered. I have created basically what I use as a template in FCP using slugs, shapes and some .psd files. Now I want to save all these layers as one transparent still. Since I used slugs and shapes there is no source file. Is that right? I know this was probably not the ideal way of going about this but it's what I have and I'm trying to simplify it.by pbovee - Café LA Re: Exporting still image with transparent background. - 14 years agoI'm trying to export still image from FCP with a transparent background to store and use later in FCP. I'm trying to do exactly what grafixjoe described above but I'm obviously doing something wrong because I bring it back into FCP and its not transparent. Do I have to do this on an Animation sequence?by pbovee - Café LA Exporting still image with transparent background. - 14 years agoHow do I export a still image from FCP with a transparent background? I can do it with video from an Animation sequence, why can't I do it with a still?by pbovee - Café LA Re: Clip not showing up in logging bin - 15 years agothe clip is on the scratch disk and I'm looking for the clip in the bin that the logging bin is set to,but no clip.by pbovee - Café LA Clip not showing up in logging bin - 15 years agoMust be overlooking something, all the sudden my clips that I'm capturing using Capture now aren't appearing in my browser at all. Logging Bin is set. Files are on scratch disk. Is there a setting I'm missing?by pbovee - Café LA Re: Quicktime export with transparent background - 15 years agoI guess I don't follow. Do I export as an image sequence? And then import into final cut and export as a quicktime movie w/Animation codec? I've tried several things and have had no luck. And what about it being unrendered?by pbovee - Café LA Quicktime export with transparent background - 15 years agoHow do you export a quicktime from FCP that has a transparent background?by pbovee - Café LA Opening a .fcp Movie sent via email - 15 years agoHi Folks, Looking to open a .fcp movie file that was uploaded to my FTP site, problem is...it won't open. It's a 30 sec. spot that is 110mb. It was exported to "Quicktime Movie" and the "make movie self-contained" was checked. After I downloaded it and moved it from my PC...YUK!, it was labeled as a Unix Executable file. I changed the extension to .fcp...but it still dby pbovee - Café LA upgrade behaviors? - 15 years agoI'm currently using Motion 2, It seems the behavior I'm looking for, SHAPE>WRITE ON is not included in Motion 2 but is in three. Is there any way to add new behaviors. Or take behaviors from a system that has Motion 3?by pbovee - Motion Squiggly Film Transition - 15 years agoHi there Kids, Looking for the third Party Company that has the cool 35mm squiggly lines and numbers clip transitions that have been pretty popular lately. It looks like the end of an old 35mm movie and has some nice red and yellow vapors that come in as well....really nice look for one of my shows.
