Why not edit in DV-anamorphic?by TimJBD - Café LA Re: Several formats in one film - 16 years agoI've heard good things about Mattias' "Smart Anamorphic" plug-in for stretching 4:3 out to 16:9: <Alec Baldwin voice> Good things! </Alec Baldwin voice>by TimJBD - Café LA Re: Apple Intermediate HDV codec printing to HDV camcorder?? - 16 years agoHe's not working with HDV at this point, is he? Copy/paste sequence into NEW HDV 1080i60 sequence and render. Then try to print THAT to tape. If that doesn't work, then you need to export an HDV 1080i60 QT movie, open another new 1080i60 sequence, import the 1080i60 QT movie into the new timeline and print that to tape. I've been down this road and this is the recommendation Larry Jordan gby TimJBD - Café LA Re: STREAMING HDV FOR WEB - 16 years agoHi Tom, It only sounds like a lot of steps. It just takes a few minutes. As for the Compressor method, I don't have Comp 3.0 on my home system yet so anything done in it (Comp 2.3) seems to take forever. And I couldn't figure out how to get a letterbox 4:3 straight from an HDV (or XDCam HD) timeline. I do have Comp 3.0 on my MBP at work, though, so I'm looking forward to getting a chance toby TimJBD - Café LA Re: STREAMING HDV FOR WEB - 16 years agoOK. Here's what I do and I do it because it's easy and provides decent results. I'm gonna do this while I write it down so I've taken a 2'30" 1080p24 HDV segment and dropped it into a new NTSC DV50 timeline (to get the letterbox baked into the cake). Then I rendered and output a new QT movie (now NTSC 4:3 23.98fps) which is 852.2 MB and am now going to pop it onto the landing pad of MPEG Strby TimJBD - Café LA Re: I am interested in this skater dolly - 16 years agoYou'd typically use a periscope lens to get really low: Skater-Scopeby TimJBD - Café LA Re: .mov files in HD won't open in QT/FCP - 16 years agoThe XDCam transfer tool is used for unwrapping .mxf's and re-wrapping them as .mov's. Have you tried re-naming them as .mxf's and importing them that way?by TimJBD - Café LA Re: .mov files in HD won't open in QT/FCP - 16 years agoI tried to open an .mxf file that had been renamed with a .mov and it gave me similar results. Could your guy have done that?by TimJBD - Café LA Re: STREAMING HDV FOR WEB - 16 years agoDerek (and Ben), Point taken. I've never had a problem here with Joey nor anyone else in the past and don't expect to in the future. I hope he feels the same. As far as You Tube goes, people had better get used to it. Serious Hollywood producers are now doing shows SPECIFICALLY for it and Myspace and the like: Quarterlife Optimizing your project for internet delivery is aby TimJBD - Café LA Re: STREAMING HDV FOR WEB - 16 years agoBen, I was done with this, but since you have drug it back up, this is what I took exception to: still can't figure why people (especially pros) consent to butcher their beautiful projects just to post them in public. When someone writes that they post their movies on YouTube and follows it with "Not the greatest", I would pass on that technology immediately. To me this implies,by TimJBD - Café LA Re: I am interested in this skater dolly - 16 years agoIf this guy got his angle increments correct, that thing is probably worth a lot more than the $500 it's now at. All you need to have with you is an interior door blank from Home Depot and two saw horses and you can do 6 foot camera moves.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: STREAMING HDV FOR WEB - 16 years agoDiego, My Spanish is lacking but I liked the hell out of that (and I thought it looked pretty damn good for You Tube as well). It was mesmerizing. I just PM'ed you about it.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: I am interested in this skater dolly - 16 years agoBy way of comparison, the P&S Technik Skater-mini is around $6000.00: Skater-Mini So if that one on Ebay actually works and you can get it for whatever you have in your budget, at least you know what the real deal costs. That one appears to be home-made so if you don't know how to make one yourself, whatever that guy is charging is about what a cheaper solution goes for. Caveat emptby TimJBD - Café LA Re: STREAMING HDV FOR WEB - 16 years agoFirst of all- Joey- all of my projects air first on broadcast HD. The network I work for does not yet broadcast in the US, however, so I post them to You Tube so my friends and family can get a look at what it is I'm doing when I get a late night call and have to be in Mexico or Argentina or Ames, Iowa the next day. Second, you can save your beer commercials or whatever YOU do for the big screby TimJBD - Café LA Re: compressing hdv through qtpro mpeg4 for youtube - 16 years agoDiego, I use MPEG Streamclip to compress for You Tube. Mostly because it's so easy to use. All the videos on my You Tube site started out 1080i50 or 1080i60: Not the greatest but easy to do.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: DVX100 comments? - 16 years agoMake sure you check out the seller here: Re-seller Ratings The reputable places are still $2500ish: DVX-100B Lots of scammers out there.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: Project image behind interview subjects in Post - 16 years agoIf you put the projected image out of focus it will give it depth.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: Problem recording HDV - 16 years agoI am trying to record onto a DV CAM tape...My video is mixed down to an HDV QT Is the QT movie on your desktop? That's a no no.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: FCP and Canon XHA1 problems - 16 years agoPhil, If that camera works the way the XL-H1 works, then it clocks at 48Hz when in 24f mode so 60i setting is not correct. Try capturing at 23.98 and see if that gets you anywhere.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: Frame Grabs from FCP - 16 years agoApple-shift-3 grabs the whole screen Apple-shift-4 gives you a crosshair tool that allows you to select whatever you want.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: HDV color correction/external monitor - 16 years agoIs it this one: LMD 9050 The LMD 9020 and 9030 are pretty much the same but no HD-SDI or blue-only setting. All three are 640x480, though.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: HD equipment question - 16 years agoIf you want to go actual HD as opposed to HDV, you're choices would be the HVX200 or the new Sony XDCAMHD EX, which I don't think is available yet. These aren't full uncompressed HD either but then I don't think you're looking for that. If you are focusing on weddings alone, HDV would probably be a suitable format. As Wayne mentions, it's not HD or even the nearHD of the HVX or XDCAMHD Ex.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: mxf to quicktime - 16 years agoIf you have the Sony XDCam Transfer Tool, try importing them as XDCam HD. I just tested it by exporting an XDCam HD clip to my desktop (which is .mxf) and it worked. so file -> import -> Sony XDCam. The Sony TT opens and the clips will be in the bin, choose the .mxf's you want and hit "import". No guarantee it will work, I don't have any DVC ProHD clips to test.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: Soft start/finish to effect? - 16 years agoThe option-click "smooth" option worked fine for what I needed. Normally I'm not blessed with loads of time to fine tune things. None the less, I'm planning a rather extensive edit (my own project) that uses tons of still photos so I'm gonna look into that plug-in. Thanks guys.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: Soft start/finish to effect? - 16 years agoHow do you do the ease in/out thing so that you can control the parameters? The control-click just happened to work for something I needed done quickly...by TimJBD - Café LA Re: Soft start/finish to effect? - 16 years agoOK, found it: control/click on keyframe, choose "smooth". toth: Goran.by TimJBD - Café LA Soft start/finish to effect? - 16 years agoI know I've read about this here but I can't find how to smooth out the beginning and end of a zoom effect. I thought it was called "soft start" but it doesn't come up in the search. Anybody? Thanks in advance.by TimJBD - Café LA Re: Blackmagic Intensity Pro capture card - 16 years agoIf you use the HVR-M25u (or probably any Sony HDV product) make sure you have the iLink HDV->DV downconvert menu option set to "OFF".by TimJBD - Café LA Re: FCP Problems with HDV capture. - 16 years agoWhat can I tell you? It works for me. I'm dealing with a Z1u so maybe that's the difference.by TimJBD - Café LA |
