powermac G4: anybody using one? - 16 years agoI have been considering buying a MBP but the finances don't allow me to take the step right now. So... back to the 'ol Powermac G4. It is Dual, 867mghz, 512 RAM, 60GB, external HD 160gb. Does anyone use a G4 or remember using one not too long ago? I would love to see what would be the minimum upgrade I should do. Thanks all.by xavpil - Café LA Running FCP on a MB - 16 years agoHi all, Budget is an issue for my newly created production company. So I know that a MBP would be best but could a MB do the job? Will I be frustrated with endless rendering time, slow performances or impossibility to do specific tasks? I intend on cutting wedding videos, music videos, actors' reels. I'm aware of screen resolution and graphic card differences.... but I would love to heaby xavpil - Café LA Re: What is the normal Pay Scale for editors - 16 years agowhere and cutting what, Ben?by xavpil - Café LA Re: What is the normal Pay Scale for editors - 16 years agoin Hollywood promo world: $400 to $700/day commercials ( networks): $800 to $1200 and moreby xavpil - Café LA Re: exporting a keyable animated graphic - 16 years agoWorked perfectly. Anybody knows how to do that? thxby xavpil - Café LA Re: slowing down music track - 16 years agoThanks JK and Jude. I used the down and dirty way but it is not accurate enough and too time consuming. I'll keep tryingby xavpil - Café LA Re: slowing down music track - 16 years agonot too sure what 'ramp down' means. what i am trying to achieve is having the speed of the music to slow down progresseively but quite fast to mark a change in my cut. And then cut to another music. I tried playing around with modifying the speed but I don't get a clean slow down. Is there a tool or trick I am not aware of?by xavpil - Café LA Re: Equipment question: MacBook or Macbook Pro when money's an issue - 16 years agoThanks, Shane. I guess you sold me on the MBP!by xavpil - Café LA Re: Equipment question: MacBook or Macbook Pro when money's an issue - 16 years agoThanks guys. Very helpful. I need a laptop though and I kind of like the idea of the iMac. Why not a refurbished MB and later on an iMac... I'll sleep on it.by xavpil - Café LA Equipment question: MacBook or Macbook Pro when money's an issue - 16 years agoI need to buy a computer and was hoping you guys could help me make a smart decision. I am torn between a MB and a MBP. (money's obviously THE reason for my tourment) 1- I understand the MBP has a video card that is more appropriate to work with FCP. Does this mean that you can NOT work comfortably on a MB? 2- Also, can you cut professionally on a MBP, meaning what's the deal with the whoby xavpil - Café LA Re: Capturing: My captured media always ends up in the same Project - 16 years agoFound the answer: Ctrl Click on the Project and choose Set Logging Binby xavpil - Café LA Capturing: My captured media always ends up in the same Project - 16 years agoI need to digitize some footage and would like to create different projects depending on the day of shoot: Day1, Day2, etc.... However, after creating a new project, let's say Day2, my media always ends up in the Day1 project. Should I simly close Day1 and keep only the project I want the media to end up in? But when I then tried to insert the file (Sequence) in my sequence, it wouldn't work and I got a message saying that the TC weren't matching. I was advised to make sure that my sequence's setting were the same. I tried with no satisfying result. I was then told to select the layers from the timeby xavpil - Café LA Graphic question: Pb with layered psd files - 16 years agoI started a thread last week and didn't have a chance to apply the advices I received until today. So, it worked, and it didn't work. After opening the file in the timeline I was able to select all the layers and drag in a folder in the browser. However I had to bring each layer in the timeline of my sequence resulting in a pile up of layers. I know I should be able to "nest" these lby xavpil - Café LA Re: "operation not allowed.
