Re: On seeing weird artifacts... - 16 years agoWell, to put it simply, that just didn't happen... Well, the thing about the specks is that they don't show up all the time- just on some renders... Now... this is getting weird. I'm on 16:9, non anamorphic, and my broadcast monitor (4:3 CRT) suddenly refuses to display in 16:9 whenever i stop the playhead.. Argh. Maybe it's time to go home...by strypes - Café LA Re: On seeing weird artifacts... - 16 years agoLol. I think it's less of what happened in AE. Coz i threw the original file that i exported (pre AE) back into the timeline, and i could see the artifacts... What's strange is that I originally received the file interlaced (which was a mistake), but the artifacts weren't visible at all.. but when i received the progressive version, the artifacts appeared. original screenshot from FCP browby strypes - Café LA On seeing weird artifacts... - 16 years agoSo I keyed something out in dvcprohd 720p50@25fps (damned this is quite a handful!)... keyed out a blue screen, made some speed adjustments, added a blur for the transition, exported it in Animation, sent it to AE... now... just got the thing back, and there are clearly some artifacts, like specks of color in the wrong places.. Reimported the original clip i exported, and the artifacts are there,by strypes - Café LA Re: Spinning plug-ins - 16 years agoHaha. I've been wanting to do all the old cheesy effects/transitions from the '60s to the '80s. For wmv files, you can use flip4mac. But it's something you have to pay for.by strypes - Café LA Re: editing and working on dvcpro hd 720p50 footage - 16 years agoLol. Was initially mistaken about the "p50" tag... Thought it would've meant 50fps.... Guess it's the same as dvcpro25 & 50? Where the p50 is named because it's progressive 50mbits/sec?by strypes - Café LA editing and working on dvcpro hd 720p50 footage - 16 years agoHi guys, I've some footage that's shot on dvcpro hd 720p50. Can't seem to get it to run at all (but I've never actually tried it prior to leopard).by strypes - Café LA Re: Quirks. - 16 years agoNow. What's weird, is that i can't seem to run fcp rescue 5 at all. Agreed. It got me quite a bit of getting used to- and i still hit the wrong keys occasionally, like i'd float my fingers over the board, and hit "help" when i'm trying to hit "by strypes - Café LA Re: Quirks. - 16 years agoPhil UK Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What happens when Apple run out of cat names? Final Cut has refused to start up on some occasions (had to thrash preferences for it to start and I've done that about 5 times in the past week); the keyboard refused to rename a new folder after i created it in the finder, command delete doesn't work, but command tab works (had to restart the system); then the system goesby strypes - Café LA Re: Keeping 2 versions of fcp in the same system. - 16 years agoCool! so it can be done after all! Do you simply re-install a new version of final cut or does it automatically overwrite the old one? I'm also wondering what happens to the registry files- coz it can be a pain if i can't bring a project onto an available station because they happen to have a newer/older version of final cut there.by strypes - Café LA exporting for web - 16 years agoHey guys, I've to export a video for web, and the video is shot in dv-ntsc. Since it's going for web, I need to de-interlace it- and if i'm going to export it uncompressed to a colleague to compress it to wmv, i should deinterlace it, then export it as an animation/uncompressed file through compressor (pretty much to avoid any form of double compression as much as possible). but how doby strypes - Café LA Keeping 2 versions of fcp in the same system. - 16 years agoHi guys, this might seem a little strange, but is there anyway to have 2 versions of final cut running in the same system? since final cut isn't back compatible, and if i'm going to work on a later version of final cut, i can't transfer a project file back to my colleague who's running an older version of final cut.by strypes - Café LA Re: final cut won't open - 16 years agoI had that problem recently (this mac i'm on is getting pretty cranky, i'm hoping it stabilizes). Nothing wrong- exported a full 20 odd minute of footage, threw it back in and no drift/sync issues. I'm wondering if it's an NTSC setting. (I'm in PAL country, so great if someone could enlighten me on that). Could it be a 30fps/29.97fps issue? If so, how do i set it right? thanksby strypes - Café LA Re: Audio dropping out of sync on export - 16 years agoHmm... I rarely can afford the luxury of mixing in stkpro. But thanks for the tip. It certainly wasn't soundtrack pro (or any of the rt effects in soundtrack that i used), since i did a test and exported it without running it through stkpro and was already 9 frames longer than i should be (exactly the length i was out of sync by after stkpro). I usually use stkpro for mastering, cleaning up nby strypes - Café LA Audio dropping out of sync on export - 16 years agoHi guys, Hmm... just exported a short 5 min clip to soundtrack pro to treat the audio. I figured that since it was a simple interview, I could just export the audio file and import it back afterwards. So I did an audio mixdown, and exported it as aiff. When i reimported it, i turned out that the clip started in sync, but drifted way out of sync towards the end.
