Re: tablet anyone? - 14 years agoBen is a little tablet whore, and i'd certainly recommend trying it. Firstly though i would take a look at the hight of your desk/chair/monitors - as my friends kindly point out at about 6"8 im a little tall and it took a long time to get a setup right that i'm comfortable in - you may well find that how you sit will have a far greater effect on your shoulders and arm than changing theby Josh B - Café LA Re: off-topic - HD Size - - 14 years agoI would be looking in the Library folder if i were you and not the application folder - thats normally where the meaty files tend to lurk!by Josh B - Café LA Re: DVCPro HD overcranking - 14 years agoFrom my experience its XDCAMEX footage that Cinema tools dosn't like - thus going to prores first, but DVCProHD should play nicely - Although isn't this exactly what the DVCProHD Frame rate converter is for in FCP?by Josh B - Café LA Re: Importing website into FCP 6.05 - 14 years ago... Or use a screen capture tool - i show you, snapz pro x, screen movie recorder to name just a few.by Josh B - Café LA Re: quicktime quality upon repeated export from FCP ProRes HQ 50i - 14 years agoJeff can we get some nice T-Shirts made up with that on?!by Josh B - Café LA Re: WWDC - NO FCS 3 - WTF? - 14 years agoNo support for the GTX285 and OpenCL support as yet but can't imagine it won't be there, or arrive after not to long.by Josh B - Café LA Re: WWDC - NO FCS 3 - WTF? - 14 years agoContinuing the hijacked 'no FCP3' thread (did anyone imagine for a moment they would anounce it at wwdc??) Think we'll see some updates to supported cards for open CL - this has got to be worth a mention, EVGA released a GTX285 mac edition!!:by Josh B - Café LA Re: WWDC - NO FCS 3 - WTF? - 14 years ago... And for anyone who was getting excited about Open CL.... The supported list of GPU's isn't exactly overwhelming so far: - NVIDIA Geforce 8600M GT, GeForce 8800 GT, GeForce 8800 GTS, Geforce 9400M, GeForce 9600M GT, GeForce GT 120, GeForce GT 130. - ATI Radeon 4850, Radeon 4870by Josh B - Café LA Re: Hardware problem? - 14 years agoAh heard that one many times - we had a nasty batch of G-Drives and G-RAIDS go bad - drives were fine but the SATA to Firewire chips were just dropping like flys... supplier told me it was a known problem... which dosn't exactly help much!!by Josh B - Café LA Re: Quick question: DV footage shot anamorphic, but needs to be delivered fullscreen. - 15 years agomy bad, when i did a quick test the clip i used wasn't anamorphic it was true 16X9... sorry bout that! - using that logic though what you could do is re-export your original media as square pixels (1024X576) then re-inport and do what i said before - just done a quick test and although your adding a unwanted extra layer of re-compression your not having to scale your clips so the footage stillby Josh B - Café LA Re: Quick question: DV footage shot anamorphic, but needs to be delivered fullscreen. - 15 years agotake the footage (anamorphic ticked) and drop it into a 4X3 timeline - that then gives you scaled down 16X9 footage in a 4X3 sequence. Right click on the footage in your timeline and select 'remove attributes' - select 'motion' and 'distort' ... You now how 16X9 footage cropped to 4X3... which is going to look horrible, unless the camera man framed everything taking in mind the cropping?! is tby Josh B - Café LA Re: Quick question: DV footage shot anamorphic, but needs to be delivered fullscreen. - 15 years agoEric if im reading your post correctly then open up your exported sequence in Quicktime - press Apple+J to open up the properties, and select the video track and then the 'visual settings' tab. Untick the 'Preserve aspect Ratio' button and then chance the size accordingly (1024X576 if your PAL DV) ** Nope nope that isn't what you meant is it? Do you mean you actually want to display theby Josh B - Café LA Re: OT - clients just think its THIS simple... - 15 years agoPut an edl into word and post it back to himby Josh B - Café LA Re: FCP "ejecting" my external hardive - 15 years agoOpen up disk utilities and select the unmounted drive, then simply hit the 'mount' button!!by Josh B - Café LA Re: Slightly OT: Cluster storage for Compressor? - 15 years agoJeff is your cluster therefore still actually running slower than on the single machine because of the networking?by Josh B - Café LA Re: FCP won't start, did everything listed in wiki! - 15 years agoSuggestion create a new user account and try loading FCP from that. Do you have a AJA or Blackmagic card in your create? What is the Consol telling you in terms of error messages? Is quicktime working happily? Boot up the laptop in target disk mode and try running FCP off itby Josh B - Café LA Re: Initial render file deletion before final coloring - 15 years agoQuotedo u know how approximate the 'color' interpretation of the 3-way adjustment is? Not very good if i remember rightly color and fcp work in different colour spaces - i would recommend sending the sequence to color without any CC applied in fcpby Josh B - Café LA Re: Locked up Computer - 15 years agoSounds like fun. Boot up in safe mode and take a look or Boot the computer up from another system (ie from os disk etc) and clear out your startup items and any process's that are set to load on login - sounds like one of them has had a bit of a heart attack!by Josh B - Café LA Re: 24p Digibeta - 15 years agoHehe sorry I didn't mean to sound like i was climbing up on my high-horseby Josh B - Café LA Re: 24p Digibeta - 15 years agoShane Ross Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Nope...digibeta is 29.97 only. and 25.... Give it some time checking the system before making more changes. What makes you think there might be a temperature issue? I would err away from that thought purely because I thoby Josh B - Café LA Re: Endlessly Crashing - Neede Professional Help - 15 years agoOk Mate, A couple of suggestions to kick things off, but even more info would be good. Had you updated any software, installed any hardware, made any kind of changes to the system in any shape or form before this problems started?? If i've covered stuff you've done sorry but its best to assume nothing and cover all options!: My first port of call after trashing prefs and caches is to isolateby Josh B - Café LA Re: Endlessly Crashing - Neede Professional Help - 15 years agoHey William, First thing we need are some details - lots of details, i mean everything possible under the sun please! Latest verion of everything as in 10.5.6 and FCP 6.0.5? what IO card to you have attached and what version of software is that? What storage are you using, how is it attached to the system... This is where a nice Dell monitor comes in handy to view your output - nicely showing you your work in portrait. don't much like the idea of tipping a broadcast display on its side!!by Josh B - Café LA Re: OT - could ram and e-sata make THAT much of a difference. - 15 years agoFirst thing i did with the new mac pro was fill it with lots of RAM... ok so 11Gig was getting a little carried away but i did a test once and took it back to stock ram during a spring clean of its innards... and well frankly if your going to spend money there is nothing better than putting good fast ram in your mac.by Josh B - Café LA Re: ot-NOTE! after effects CS4 is INTEL ONLY - 15 years ago... Alas right now was not the best time to be buying a new Mac Pro... Ahaha, a bit like that pun ;0)by Josh B - Café LA Re: quicktime video hosting - 15 years agoIf your prepared to pay, why not pay for your own web hosting - you've then got complete control from start to finnish in delivering your video - i doubt you'll find a QT hosting service in the same like as the likes of youtube etc etcby Josh B - Café LA Re: Collapsing a nest - 15 years agoWhat exactly do you mean by collapsing a nested clip?
