Re: Best titling tool - 17 years agoI would go with Wayne. But depending on the titles you want to create, PhotoShop is beside Boris a very good alternative. I use PhotoShop all the time to create subtitles. The layered TIFFs are a really great feature of PhotoShop and somehow unbeatable in my opinion. It will read all available metadata, juggle around with them, will give you some advices how to a handle "a file like this" with FCP 5.1.2. It also allows to save an XML which will be able to transport those metadata which are not read by FCP's direct import - but note: reel names are always oby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Exporting Timecode for Transcript? - 17 years agoHi Ty, Have a look at my readXML app, it will allow you to get simple transscripts from a QT movie with all kinds of timecode. Open the XML in TextEdit, which is easy as well You'll get a nice formatted - though probably for your eyes strange - text file displayed. Or maybe AutoMotion to do the titles with Motion, though I haven't found the time to try that. But the trick with it is to create titles which have a "build in" drop shadow using the alpha channel. Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: DVCPRO HD 720p25 Workflow - 17 years agoWhy not do as many Europeans and just use a 24 fps timebase, so final time will differ 2 % and sound needs to be adjusted, but it works fine here (though the actual pixel dimensions in your case have to be converted). I used 100 model quite a long time in PAL world since it was doing 24, which we both intergrated into 16 mm and 25 PAL. The workaround Derek described is the only one I know, beside creating the titles outside FCP and apply the drop shadow there. You can also pre-compose all titles, duplicate the track and then use Derek's method. Regards Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA For those who deal with BWF - 17 years agoThough I normally don't overlook any of the BWF audio things happening with FCP, I did overlook this one. Using the DV codec titles are difficult since the colorspace and compression doesn't make life easy with titles, going to DVD the Photo-JPEG codec is a good option.
