As described earlier FCP 5.1.2 uses the new QT features to read audio timecode, which should work fine and do work fine with QT and some manual calculation. Some tests with FCP 5.1.2 do show up a wrong TC. So is there somebody out there, who got the time to compare BWF timecodes against those interpreted in FCP? Kind regards Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: FCP 5.1.2 Conflict With Avid QT. - 17 years agoOlder Black Magic Codecs will cause the same trouble. Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Image Sequence and Photoshop Filters - 17 years agoClay, Have a look at the PhotoShop action examples and batch capabilities or AppleScript examples for Photoshop (for AppleScript you have to download and install the AppleScript plug-in) Record a new action for one picture, save it and let it run. With AS it is easier if you know a little bit about AS. Drop me an eMail if you stuck. Regards Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Media100 files into FCP - 17 years agoMaybe it's like with Avid Codecs on Intel Macs - select them - cmd-I - and tell them to work with Rosetta. Regards Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Timecode doesn't match master tapes - 17 years agoHi, Unfortunately I'm not in LA, even not near. Depenping on your workflow setup (kind of logging, media management etc), you could modify all TCs in a batch and use XML and some custom tools to rebuild the project. I did that several times to convert mixed 24/25 fps TC and cut back to consistent 25. Maybe you can give some more details. Finding the right place for compression markers, is like finding the right keyframes for an animation. With AE for example you can record the mouse movement to create a motion path, you will get an awfull lot of keayframes, even if you do a smoothing. To make the motion path smoot you have to look where there is a change of direction or speed. If you did it several times, it's eby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Nagra pilotone pulldown - 17 years agoI'm not an sound recordist and do not know a lot about the machines those species is using, but I know quite a lot about the files they are delivering. As far as I know you're forced to apply the pull-down after capturing. But depending on the hardware/software you use this is simple and fast. If you can capture to BWF files, then search for "ConvertTo" & "BWF", "Conby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: HDV, HD, DVCPRO HD, PROGRESSIVE, field-blending - Misconceptions, self-imposed limitations - just what can we do with FCP5 as far as output is concerned? - 17 years agofilmman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Do they go at the beginning of each > shot? I see on the web videos of excellent quality that open up quickly > and play with sharp picture, great color ? Beside color, deinterlacing, gamma, read about compression markers and learn how to use them, they are like keyframes for compression which you do set by your own and by visual experience - it's hand made 2-pass , 3-pass etc. As with any keyframes theby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Pixel size from Photoshop to Pal FCP HD - 17 years agoAndreas Kiel Wrote: > PAL HD = 1080 X 576 square pix Sorry for this typing error, I started with 1280 x ? and realized that Lisa asked for SD widescreen and deleted only half of the wrong value. Regards Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Time of Day suggestions - 17 years agoHi Andrew, I just made a small test with an EDL to proof that it won't work. There must be an error since timecode in is higher than timecode out. The good thing is FCP does split internally the file and refers to two files, unfortunately the second file has the wrong timing, but this doesn't matter since it won't reconnect correctly anyway. They only thing you can do is either to split theby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Un-trimming in QuickTime Pro - 17 years agoHi, Sure data are still there, but no reference to it. You could hire a good QT programmer to restore the original state. It behaves like that since ever. The moral of the above: never trim and save - trim, copy, create new, paste and save as self-contained. Regards Andreas P.S. Just forget to say: the moral even includes that trim and save does not save space ond the disk.by Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: 23.976 sequence and total running time - 17 years agoHi Andrew, I just started to write an answer on Frank's reply and to explain again the slow time stuff, you were faster, I saved time ;-) Glad you solved it Andrew, good luck. Currently no idea at what part of the thread it will show up. With NTSC you got either DF or NDF and always slow seconds - sometimes not displayed. So it's not that difficult to calculate run times 23.976 is NDF and slow seconds. 29.97 video is DF and displays real seconds. 30.00 is NDF and real seconds 29.97 audio maybe DF and rby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Timecode inconsistent with 24P DVCPRO HD - 18 years agoRegarding the application, there are good news and bad news. So the app runs fine on Tiger without any trouble, but a lot of QT scripting seems to be not compatible anymore. It needs some time to go thru that, especially since there are obviously quite a lot of different handlings of scripting within the subversions of QT 7.x (in this special case).
