Re: OT: Camera - 14 years agoI guess the other question should be, are the 3rd party batteries as good as the Canon factory ones ?by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: OT: Camera - 14 years agoI just checked Amazon. There price on the BP-827 batteries are $184.08 (Usually ships within 1 to 3 weeks). I would say Canon and Amazon lost a potential camera sale... oh, wellby Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: OT: Camera - 14 years agoHey thanks for posting your update about the Canon Vixia HF S10. That s___s about waiting that long for the batteries... and you are still waiting! I wonder if the camera is going to be backordered if I do order one. I'm thinking of getting the HF S100 model anyway. I'm getting close to deciding.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: OT: Camera - 14 years agoJoey, The only HoodLoupe that I found like the one you use is the one for 3.0 camcorder monitors. How does yours fix on that 2.7 monitor? thanks,by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: OT: Camera - 14 years agoYou asked for it, Joey DXA-2s Compact Audio Adapter - If you need XLR ports: I had a bigger image of it but it was waaay too bigby Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: OT: Camera - 14 years agoI can't find it anywhere but can you manual focus the lens on the S-10 and S-100? Okay, I looked at the video again and I see the little wheel on the front left side for manual focusing... Cool!by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: OT: Camera - 14 years agoJoey, I was just worried not having a viewfinder because for the last 3 weeks I was hired to shoot behind-the-scenes footage during a movie shoot on an outside western movie set in the blazing hot sun, and could not use the flip-out monitor. I couldn't even see it. I was using the Panasonic HVX200A DVCPRO HD P2 Camera, which the Director lent me... Maybe the monitor on the S-10 is just differby Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: OT: Camera - 14 years agoHey Joey, thanks. I don't really see any noise in the dark areas. Pretty darn good for a small camcorder. I'm waiting for the Scarlet Red to come out but I might get me one of those for now. The only thing I wish it had is a viewfinder. Shooting out in the bright sun here in Arizona makes it hard to see what you are filming with just a pop out monitor.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: OT: Camera - 14 years agoQuotegrafixjoeIt's really ALL LENS with a 2/3 CMOS Chip The "Canon VIXIA HF S10 HD Digital Camcorder" has a 2/3 CMOS chip? That pretty good for such a small camera. I've read elsewhere that the camera isn't good for shooting in low light. I alway thought a 2/3 chip was good in low light?by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: New MB Pro announced at WWDC 13 inches - 14 years agoMy daughter in Long Beach bought a new aluminum unibody MacBook yesterday the 7th at Best Buy. The new ones came out today. I told her to return it and get the new ones because they are cheaper. They told her there is a 15% re-stocking fee. After she got a hold of the manager and talked for quite a bit, They are giving her $200 back if she keeps the Mac Book she originally bought. Not bad!by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: Need an experienced editor to advise on workflow - 14 years ago"MKII gets directors excited with the look but" Wow! I'm shooting behind-the-scenes footage on a movie set in the desert in Arizona starting on Monday. It will go on for a few weeks. The DP is only using the 5D MKII's to shoot this full length feature film western. Also this is the film editors first crack at a full length feature film... This ought to be good! If you stop it in the middle and then start it up again, that's where you get into trouble. I never used the free filter to automate Ken Burn effects, but I think it's worth a try. But since you have Motion, I'd use that. There's a nice tutorial on lynda.com by Larry Jordan called; Moving on Stills.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: What do you think of ATI 3870HD (MAC / PC Edition). - 15 years agoThe ATI 3870HD is the best option for the Mac Pro that you have at a good price. It will beat the pants off the 7300 GT... You will really see it come alive when using Motion.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: Configuring for two flat screen monitors - 15 years agoShelley, Probably what your original Mac Pro had for a video card was the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT. Upgrading to the ATI Radeon HD 3870, you should be seeing a very big performance boost when working with large complex projects in Motion.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: Dual Monitor Cinema Preview - 15 years agoWhat video card are you using. Some video cards won't let you use the preview option as I just found out myself.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: Configuring for two flat screen monitors - 15 years agoJust a quick question while we are on this subject; Someone is giving me a Sony PVM 20M2MDU broadcast monitor that is used for the medical field, (I know it's not as good). If I connect a S-Video cable from my ATI 3870 video card to the S-Video port on the back of the Sony monitor, will I able to monitor what I'm doing in FCP? This would be for SD editing...by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: Caldigit giveaway competition - OMG I WON!!!! - 15 years agoI also won!! John from CalDigit just called to tell me I won the CalDigit VR... very cool! Hey Adrian, I'm here this week in Long Beach staying right across from the beach. It's clearing up a bit and it's getting warm out. It made my day better. I traveled here from Tucson and it turns out I have a abscessed tooth... painful! So I'm stuck inside taking Penicillin and Vicodin until I get bacby Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: I have an SD Sony GVM 2020 Trinitron to give away - 15 years agoHi Harry, I'm live in Tucson but I'm in Long Beach, CA all this week on vacation. It's ready for anything...by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: hooking up hdtv to PowerMac G5 - 15 years agoI don't think I'd want to use an HDTV for my only/main monitor. But if you have to, take a look at the "Dell S2409W Full HD Monitor". But I would go for the "Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP 24-inch" monitor. I use the 2407WFP and been pretty happy with it. I found that some of those bigger hardware and software companies hire people to do tech support, read the answers off a script. They really don't know the answer off the top of their head. At least that's what it seems like. Companies like Aja and CalDigit and even OWC, really depend on giving the best tech support that can be given to gby Russ Blaise - Motion Re: Question about running two monitors off an ATI 3870? - 15 years ago"I would want to get these facts from the horse's mouth (manufacturer) and not an end user" I the past I found sometimes the end user knows more than the tech support person answering your question. ViewSonic being one of those. ATI in the past wasn't so good when I had a problem with one of their cards. The Apple store in the past was pretty bad also. And will that hurt my performance working in Motion?by Russ Blaise - Motion Re: Installing Graphics Card - 15 years agoDon't forget to hookup the power cable. That card does not use the power from the slot... It's a great card, enjoy :-)by Russ Blaise - Café LA OT: Apple is switching its outputs from DVI to DisplayPort. - 15 years agoSo what do you guys think? ATI is starting to make video cards with DisplayPort ports. This is for external video monitoring only. DisplayPort artical.by Russ Blaise - Café LA |
