Join us Wednesday March 28 at the Gallery Theatre for another jam packed lafcpug meet. We will welcome the editors of American Horror Story who will take us through their process.

Also editor/colorist Monica Daniel will show us how she did the Show Open for the "E! Countdown to the Red Carpet" show for this past year's Golden Globes Awards. On the Avid.

Plus, editor Christine Steele returns to lafcpug after a long absence to show us Editing 4K on a Laptop using Premiere Pro 5.5 using the new "Freddy Mercury Playback Engine."

Also another round of Stump The Gurus and of course World Famous Raffle. Keep watching this page for agenda updates. It promises to be another great meet-up.

6:45- 7:15PM - Stump the Gurus
Join Gurus
Shannon Hartman, Michael Kammes and TBA as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

7:20PM - 7:30PM - Welcome and Announcements
What's latest in the world of lafcpug? Also, we will bring up brand new Platinum sponsor AJA to say a few words and give us the latest from the world of AJA. If time allows, this will be your opportunity to get up, grab the microphone and announce whatever you need to announce.

7:30PM - 7:55PM - "Spicing up your video with cool FXs." Monica Daniel

About Monica Daniel
I have been a gymnast, a band geek, a flag twirler, a dancer and a choreographer, and it is in the entertainment industry that I have found my true passion in post-production. My technical savvy and need for creative expression have lead me to editing, where I have honed my visual storytelling skills in many styles. I have worked in television and independent features as an editor and colorist. Currently I am a lead editor for some of NBC/Universal’s cable networks and I have worked on documentary features that have been released worldwide by Miramax and Starz.



8:00PM - 8:30PM - Editing 4K on a Laptop - Christine Steele.
Editor Christine Steele returns to lafcpug after a long absence to show us Editing 4K on a Laptop using Premiere Pro 5.5. This is real time editing of 4K folks. A must see.

About Christine Steele
Christine Steele has edited film and video at Pixar, ABC, FOX, Paramount, Warner, Showtime, Frontline, Electronic Arts, VH1 and PBS, and just completed editing of Air Racers 3D, an IMAX feature scheduled for theatrical release this year.

Christine has produced documentaries, including Hummingbird Magic, as well as music videos. She served as the supervising Editor and Post Production Supervisor for Paramount's feature documentary talhotblond (available on iTunes and Netflix). She also supervised post-production for Season 1 of Free Radio on VH1, and was lead editor for all episodes of the Animated TV show Da Jammies. Christine has won a ProMax award for editing promos for ABC's Desperate Housewives.

An Adobe Master Trainer, Apple Certified Trainer and content creator who enjoys the art of storytelling, Christine Steele uses moving pictures and sound to inspire others.

8:30PM - 9:00PM - Break
In the lobby will be many FCP, Avid and Premiere Gurus. This is your chance to ask questions. No questions? Then talk to each other. Also in the lobby will be Tery Williams and Christina Oliver from brand new lafcpug Platinum Sponsor AJA. Also, brand new lafcpug sponsor, Hot Pixel Post will be there to answer all your post production questions. It will be a packed lobby.

The break is a chance to hang out and meet and greet and get your problems solved and who knows, get a job. You never know who you are going to meet at lafcpug. Snacks and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby. Proceeds go to the Gallery Theater.

9:00PM - 9:45PM - "How American Horror Story Does It." - Misha Tenenbaum, Fabienne Bouville, Amy McGrath and Adam Penn
lafcpug welcomes the editors, (Misha Tenenbaum, Fabienne Bouville, Amy McGrath and Adam Penn) of the hit FX Network show American Horror Story. They plan to take us from dailies to final cut, talk about going from assistant editor to editor and back to assistant editor, take us behind the scenes and answer your questions. And yes, they use Final Cut Pro.

Fabienne cut her editing teeth on student short films, which led to reality tv assisting and then editing, which led to scripted tv assisting and then editing. She has been working within the Ryan Murphy world for 4 years and looking forward to many more!

How to get to the Gallery Theater at Barnsdall Art Park

The Gallery Theater at Barnsdall Art Park
4800 Hollywood Boulevard
(between Vermont and Normandie)
Hollywood, CA 90027

Enter through the gate on Hollywood Blvd just West of Berendo. The theater is at the top of the hill, adjacent to the art gallery.

From US 101 (heading South),
take the Hollywood Boulevard exit.
Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Hollywood Boulevard.
Turn right into the entrance to Barnsdall Art Park at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. (you will only see a parking lot. Drive to top of hill to find the Gallery Theater)
The Gallery Theater is in the center of the park.

From US 101 (heading North),
take the Vermont Avenue exit.
Turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Vermont Avenue.
Turn left onto Hollywood Boulevard.
Turn left into the entrance to Barnsdall Art Park at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. (you will only see a parking lot. Drive to top of hill to find the Gallery Theater)
The Gallery Theater is in the center of the park.

Metro Red Line
Yes, Los Angeles has a subway and if possible you ought to use it. Riders are dropped of at Sunset and Vermont, one long block from the Art Park. More info on the Red Line can be found here.

Note on Parking: Parking is FREE. There is ample parking on top of hill near the Art Park. Parking extends around the perimeter of the Park. NOTE: Please park your car diagonally even though the spaces are not marked that way. Wheelchair access: Park in the lot next to the Hollyhock house (you will see a handicap parking sign), come into the theatre entrance, and take the elevator down. There will be space in the front of the theatre for wheelchairs.

Before or after the meeting, there is a fine restaurant row on Vermont between Hollywood and Franklin (just around the corner from the park). There are also a number of funky ethic eateries along Hollywood Blvd.
