Join us Wednesday May 23 at the Gallery Theatre for another jam packed lafcpug meet.

Master Trainer Larry Jordan will show us how to move our audio out of FCP, FCPX or Avid into Adobe's newest, Audition.

Also Art Freed from Hot Pixel Post in Hollywood will wow us by showing us how he does extreme looks  using DaVinci Resolve.

Also filmmaker and composer for TV and Film, Kenn Michael, will show how he uses Logic Pro to tackle any and every music challenge. He will score a scene live in realtime, first using available loops from Apple's included JamPacks, and then again without the loops in the traditional compositional workflow.

Bummed by the possibility that the Mac Pro is dead? The ProMax One might be the answer and Nate Cooper will show it to us.

6:45- 7:10PM - Stump the Gurus
Join Gurus Andrew Balis, Michael Kammes and Larry Jordan as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

7:25PM - 7:50PM - ProMax One - Nate Cooper

Kenn Michael (previously known as Kenny Blank) is a multi-hyphenate that takes the term multi-hyphenate  to the next level. As a writer, director, producer, DP, composer, editor, and sound designer, he can singlehandedly take a production from conception to delivery.
In 2000, Kenn directed, edited and conceptualized the technology for the performance, in which 5 plasma screens seamlessly interact with NSYNC and their choreography. Kid Rock was quoted calling it, Technological genius!  Kenn Michael also directed and edited all the visual elements and films for the subsequent 2001 NSYNC Pop odyssey World Tour. In the lobby will be many FCP, Avid and Premiere Gurus. This is your chance to ask questions. No questions? Then talk to each other. Also in the lobby will be Tery Williams and Christina Oliver from brand new lafcpug Platinum SponsorAJA. Also, brand new lafcpug sponsor, Hot Pixel Post will be there to answer all your post production questions. It will be a packed lobby. The break is a chance to hang out and meet and greet and get your problems solved and who knows, get a job. You never know who you are going to meet at lafcpug. Snacks and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby. Proceeds go to the Gallery Theater.

8:55PM - 9:20PM - "Creating Extreme Looks for Big Impact" - Art Freed, Bruce Goodman and Eric McClain 
The Colorists from HotPixel will be doing a demo on Da Vinci Resolve creating extreme looks for big impact. Bruce Goodman and Eric McClain will demo what they look for in a shot and how they take it from flat to stunning. Bruce and Eric have over 30 years experience between them in the color timing room. They will give their take on how to look at a shot to analyze the best approach to making that shot jump off the screen.

About Bruce Goodman
Bruce Goodman frequently freelances for HotPixel Post with over fifteen years of experience color grading both episodic television and feature films for some of the entertainment industry s most prestigious filmmakers. With a keen eye for color grading that strives to always enhance the storytelling process without ever overpowering it, Bruce has been a trusted collaborator with Academy award winning cinematographers  such as Roger Deakins, Caleb Deschanel, and Vilmos Zsigmond. His  credits include the feature films No Country For Old  Men , "Get Low",   My Sister s Keeper , The Kite Runner , "Man On  Fire" and Zack & Miri Make A  Porno  along with  the episodic  television shows The Shield , Angel  and One Tree Hill .
During his career, he has worked  for some of the best in the industry such as Editel/Los Angeles and  Laser Pacific Media Corp. HotPixel and  Bruce are now able to collaborate with a new generation of filmmakers.

About Eric McClain
I began my professional career in 1992 as a telecine assistant at Henninger Media Services located in the historic Georgetown section of Washington, D.C.  There at Henninger we exclusively performed the mastering for the ad campaign of Bill Clinton s first Presidential election.  The company also edited and color enhanced numerous documentaries for the award winning National Geographic Explorer  television series.  Additionally, I worked closely with sensitive government materials gaining security clearances from the U.S. Government.
After several years of working in Georgetown, I relocated to Los Angeles in 1999. Since then I have served as the Director of Photography on a number of independent films and music videos.  I then obtained a Colorist position at The Post Group and have colored the dailies on popular television shows, which include Crime Scene Investigation (C.S.I.), House, Numbers, Law & Order, Dark Blue, Nikita and The Cape. I have also performed the dailies on the feature films Grindhouse, The informers, Hellride and Mean Girls 2 among others.

The Gallery Theater at Barnsdall Art Park

Enter through the gate on Hollywood Blvd just West of Berendo. The theater is at the top of the hill, adjacent to the art gallery.

From US 101 (heading South),
take the Hollywood Boulevard exit.
Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Hollywood Boulevard.
Turn right into the entrance to Barnsdall Art Park at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. (you will only see a parking lot. Drive to top of hill to find the Gallery Theater)
The Gallery Theater is in the center of the park.

From US 101 (heading North),
take the Vermont Avenue exit.
Turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Vermont Avenue.
Turn left onto Hollywood Boulevard.
Turn left into the entrance to Barnsdall Art Park at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. (you will only see a parking lot. Drive to top of hill to find the Gallery Theater)
The Gallery Theater is in the center of the park.

Metro Red Line
Yes, Los Angeles has a subway and if possible you ought to use it. Riders are dropped of at Sunset and Vermont, one long block from the Art Park. More info on the Red Line can be found here.

Note on Parking: Parking is FREE. There is ample parking on top of hill near the Art Park. Parking extends around the perimeter of the Park. NOTE: Please park your car diagonally even though the spaces are not marked that way. Wheelchair access: Park in the lot next to the Hollyhock house (you will see a handicap parking sign), come into the theatre entrance, and take the elevator down. There will be space in the front of the theatre for wheelchairs.

Before or after the meeting, there is a fine restaurant row on Vermont between Hollywood and Franklin (just around the corner from the park). There are also a number of funky ethic eateries along Hollywood Blvd.
