Join us as we welcome Marco Solorio from San Francisco who will show off the new Blackmagic Cinema Camera in all its glory.

Plus Steve Martin and Mark Spencer of Ripple Training will show us all you need to know about the just announced FCP X 10.0.6 update. Be the first on your block to see it.

Plus a another round of Stump The Gurus and of course, World Famous Raffle.

You must register if you wish to attend, but only register if you know you can attend

6:45- 7:10PM - Stump the Gurus
Join Gurus
Philip Hodgetts, Steve Martin and Michael Kammes, as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

7:15PM - 7:20PM - Welcome and Announcements
lafcpug sponsor AJA will give us the latest. Also if we have time, this is your time. Get up and tell us something about yourself. Ask for a job, offer a job. Whatever you want. Keep it brief. I also want to update everyone on the new projector and discuss ways to raise money to buy it.

7:25PM - 8:20PM -- "FCP X 10.0.6 Update" - Steve Martin and Mark Spencer
Steve Martin and Mark Spencer of Ripple Training will be down to show off the just announced FCP X 10.06 update. Featuring Multichannel Audio Editing Tools, Dual Viewers, MXF Plug-in Support, and
RED camera support and MUCH more. This will be be the very first public demo of this new update. Worth taking another look at.

8:30PM - 9:00PM - Break
In the lobby will be many FCP, Avid and Premiere Gurus. This is your chance to ask questions. No questions? Then talk to each other. Also in the lobby will be Tery Williams and Christina Oliver from brand new lacpug Platinum Sponsor AJA. Also, brand new lafcpug sponsor, Hot Pixel Post will be there to answer all your post production questions. The break is a chance to hang out and meet and greet and get your problems solved and who knows, get a job. You never know who you are going to meet at lafcpug. Snacks and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby. Proceeds go to the Gallery Theater.

9:00PM - 9:50PM - "The Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera" - Marco Solorio
Marco Solorio returns to lacpug to show off the new Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera. Marco has had the camera longer than just about anyone outside of Blackmagic headquarters in AU. This camera is arguably changing everything and you need to see it and the images it can produce and Marco will get you started.

Marco has been in the industry since 1991, and is a published writer from the likes of DV Magazine, Videography Magazine to countless online website reviews and articles. Filmmaker Jon Carr was one of the early testers of the BMD camera and will show us images, and if time discuss his workflow. You can read about his experience and workflow and see the images he captured here

How to get to the Gallery Theater at Barnsdall Art Park

The Gallery Theater at Barnsdall Art Park
4800 Hollywood Boulevard
(between Vermont and Normandie)
Hollywood, CA 90027

Enter through the gate on Hollywood Blvd just West of Berendo. The theater is at the top of the hill, adjacent to the art gallery.

From US 101 (heading South),
take the Hollywood Boulevard exit.
Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Hollywood Boulevard.
Turn right into the entrance to Barnsdall Art Park at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. (you will only see a parking lot. Drive to top of hill to find the Gallery Theater)
The Gallery Theater is in the center of the park.

From US 101 (heading North),
take the Vermont Avenue exit.
Turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Vermont Avenue.
Turn left onto Hollywood Boulevard.
Turn left into the entrance to Barnsdall Art Park at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. (you will only see a parking lot. Drive to top of hill to find the Gallery Theater)
The Gallery Theater is in the center of the park.

Metro Red Line
Yes, Los Angeles has a subway and if possible you ought to use it. Riders are dropped of at Sunset and Vermont, one long block from the Art Park. More info on the Red Line can be found here.

Note on Parking: Parking is FREE. There is ample parking on top of hill near the Art Park. Parking extends around the perimeter of the Park. NOTE: Please park your car diagonally even though the spaces are not marked that way. Wheelchair access: Park in the lot next to the Hollyhock house (you will see a handicap parking sign), come into the theatre entrance, and take the elevator down. There will be space in the front of the theatre for wheelchairs.

Before or after the meeting, there is a fine restaurant row on Vermont between Hollywood and Franklin (just around the corner from the park). There are also a number of funky ethic eateries along Hollywood Blvd.
