Join Gurus Patrick Southern, Monica Daniel, Adam Bedford and TBAs as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning Resolve and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.
7:20PM - 7:45PM - Breaking Down the Edit - Monica Daniel
I will go over Editorial Techniques for specific scenes from Scripted Television Shows that I have worked on and go over the creative and collaborative process between an Editor and the Assistant Editor that is necessary to bring the scenes to life.
 About Monica Daniel
MONICA is an Editor based in Los Angeles and is a Picture Editor Member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, as well as an Affliate Member of American Cinema Editors. She has edited all types of content: documentary, reality, interview shows, game shows, show open sizzles, and short form packages. She has worked for several television networks in addition to independent features that have been released by Miramax, Lionsgate and Anchor Bay Entertainment. Her work for the E! Red Carpet Awards Season Coverage has been seen by millions in over 100 countries around the world. In her spare time she produces/Co-Hosts an industry podcast called Going Postal Show.
She is currently working in scripted television as an Assistant Editor. Her shows include Minority Report (Fox), Supergirl (Warner Bros Television), Preacher (AMC) and Colony (USA/Legendary). She most recently worked on the critically acclaimed Sci-Fi series, Altered Carbon, for Netflix.

Christine Steele is the Creative Director of Steele Pictures Studios, Inc., providing production, post-production, story consulting and training for clients all over the world. Christine has worked for Disney, Pixar, ABC, BBC, FOX, Paramount, Showtime, Frontline, Electronic Arts, VH1 and PBS. She recently co-directed, co-produced and edited the feature documentary, Take Me Home Huey, which won Audience Award for Best Documentary at Palm Springs International Film Festival and is now airing nationally on PBS. She is currently a co-producer on the documentary film series LIGO, about the discovery of Einstein’s gravity waves.

9:00PM - 9:35PM - Understanding ProRes Raw - Patrick Southern
Patrick will discuss everything we know about ProRes Raw, the new codec announced by Apple at NAB. There are a lot of misconceptions, so lets get through them and hopefully gain a better understanding as to what exactly ProRes Raw is.

Patrick Southern is an Editor and the Chief Workflow Engineer at LumaForge in Burbank. He has worked on projects for National Geographic, Smithsonian Channel, Riot Games, A&E and the Lifetime Movie Channel.
9:35PM - 9:45PM - "Here's Hoping." - Will Tordella - Show and Tell
I will be showing a video that I made after working swing shift for 9 months, bored out of his mind, wrangling files and watching Vimeo. I became inspired by great work on Vimeo, to try to make very personal videos for very little money. It is a video about fathers and sons entitled, "Here's Hoping."
 About Will Tordella
Will Tordella is originally from Columbia, MD, a suburb between Baltimore and DC. He has lived in Los Angeles for just over a decade now. He is recently 40 years old.
He is married, and lives in Glendale with his wife and two small boys.
He an Assistant Editor, and aspiring Editor and Colorist.
As of last week, he is only recently employed again.

What happens when someone’s life radically changes in a moment? Ava goes from a life of ease and luxury to losing everything and having no means of supporting herself.
 About Catherine Skillen
Catherane Skillen is an actress who has appeared in many TV shows and movies. She was frustrated at waiting for casting opportunities and decided to write her own material. Her project AVA is the result. She subsequently produced and starred in the series but didn't have an editor. So she came to an LACPUG meeting and found her editor! The project is almost finished, you will see the Trailer tonight.

The Gallery Theater at Barnsdall Art Park

Enter through the gate on Hollywood Blvd just West of Berendo. The theater is at the top of the hill, adjacent to the art gallery.
From US 101 (heading South),
take the Hollywood Boulevard exit.
Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Hollywood Boulevard.
Turn right into the entrance to Barnsdall Art Park at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. (you will only see a parking lot. Drive to top of hill to find the Gallery Theater)
The Gallery Theater is in the center of the park.
From US 101 (heading North),
take the Vermont Avenue exit.
Turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Vermont Avenue.
Turn left onto Hollywood Boulevard.
Turn left into the entrance to Barnsdall Art Park at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. (you will only see a parking lot. Drive to top of hill to find the Gallery Theater)
The Gallery Theater is in the center of the park.
Metro Red Line
Yes, Los Angeles has a subway and if possible you ought to use it. Riders are dropped of at Sunset and Vermont and then it is a walk of several blocks and uphill to get to the Theatre. The Park has a gated stairway ending at Barnsdall Ave, just behind the strip mall. It's the only access point from this side, but it is often locked. There is long, tree-shaded stairway leading from Hollywood Blvd to the Gallery Theatre and this area is sometimes shared with a homeless population. The best route for people who use mobility devices is the sidewalk along the Barnsdall Park road access. More info on the Red Line can be found here.
PARKING: Parking is FREE. There is ample parking on top of hill near the Art Park. Parking extends around the perimeter of the Park. NOTE: Please park your car diagonally even though the spaces are not marked that way. What to do if I cant find a place to park?
Park at the Kaiser Hospital Parking lot. Download directions HERE - or...
1. Turn right on Hollywood Blvd
2. Turn right on Vermont Ave
3. Turn right on Sunset Blvd.
4. Turn right into Kaiser Parking Structure
5. Park on rooftop
6. Take elevator down to Level 2
7. Exit at Parking Entrance on Barnsdall Ave.
8. Cross Street to Barnsdall Park
9. Use Stair or elevator to Park
10. Climb stairs and follow signs to Gallery Theatre
11. Cost is $4.00 (I think) And security is provided.
Wheelchair access: Park in the lot next to the Hollyhock house (you will see a handicap parking sign), come into the theatre entrance, and take the elevator down. There will be space in the front of the theatre for wheelchairs.
Before or after the meeting, there is a fine restaurant row on Vermont between Hollywood and Franklin (just around the corner from the park). There are also a number of funky ethic eateries along Hollywood Blvd.
