Registration will be required. Just click the below button and follow directions.
NOTE: lafcpug generally meets every 4th Wednesday of the Month
Meetings are open to public and ALL beginning through advanced FCS users and Digital Story Tellers are welcome
First come best seat. A $5.00 donation will be requested at the door
Agenda (subject to change)
6:45- 7:15PM - Stump the Gurus
Join FCS Gurus Andrew Balis, Misha Tenenbaum and Michael Kammes as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.
7:20PM - 7:30PM - Announcements (if time available)
This is a chance to get up and ask for a job, offer job opportunities, announce your film or service, or tell a bad joke.
7:30PM - 7:55PM - “Storytelling with Audio in Post Production, plus Tip & Tricks for better Audio" - Michael Kammes .
Michael Kammes MPSE explores a scene breakdown and how audio can be used to to not only complement the video edit, but also have a voice of it's own. Michael also shares some basic tips and tricks for improving your post audio - within your video editor OR audio editor.
8:00PM - 8:25PM - "Shooting and pitching a reality project." - Michael Friedman
Are you the next Mark Burnett? Have you found the new Rachael Ray? Clearly, you want to create and pitch a reality show. So, what's next? Do you go straight to the network? Do you need an agent? What about production companies? Most importantly, what kind of deal will you get? Will you get the credit you're due? And, what kind of money are we talking about (really...) ?
About Michael Friedman:
Michael Friedman is an Emmy Award winning producer and editor who has worked in reality TV for 10years on shows like The Amazing Race, Project Runway and The Hills. He has spent the past year creating and pitching a show of his own, and he wants to share everything he's learned along the way, with you. This is a step by step walk through from the day you sign the talent to the day your pitching in the network offices. You will get all of the info you need to get your project in front of the right people, and avoid costly mistakes.
8:30PM - 9:00PM - Break
In the lobby will be many FCS Gurus. This is your chance to ask questions. No questions? Then talk to each other. STARDOM Storage Solutions will be in the lobby showing of their toys. The break is a chance to hang out and meet and greet and get your problems solved and who knows, get a job. You never know who you are going to meet at lafcpug. Snacks and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby. Proceeds go to the Gallery Theater.
9:00PM - 9:45PM - All we know about Final Cut Pro X - Larry Jordan
Apple stunned the entire Final Cut community with their sneak peak of Final Cut Pro X at the NAB SuperMeet two weeks ago. Probably no one has been more visible in helping us understand what this all means than Larry Jordan. So, I asked him to spend a few minutes with us sharing what he can about the new version of the software. He tells me he is still under NDA, so there are many things he can't talk about. But to the extent that he can, I think you'll find the conversation worthwhile.
Plus we will allow time for "feedback to Apple."
9:45PM - 9:55PM - "What does Freedom mean to you?" - Show and Tell - Jeffrey Stallman
Jeffrey Stallman, a recent graduate from Boston University, and a member of 18% Productions, has been living in Los Angeles for the past six months. He has been working primarily in Reality TV as a Logger/Transcriber, but hopes to soon get an Assistant Editing job to begin racking up hours for the Union. Since most of Jeffrey's paid work does not consist of editing, he stays fresh by using YouTube to perfect his craft. He uses YouTube as an unlimited library of clips, gathering footage to edit historical and impactful videos about specific time periods. Some examples include, Japan in a Nutshell and Holocaust Photography. The one that Jeffrey will present tonight is about the recent protests and violence that has been escalating in the Middle East and attempts to pose the question, "What does Freedom mean to you?"
