6:45- 7:15PM - Stump the Gurus
Join Gurus Monica Daniel, Adam Bedford Philip Hodgetts as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.
7:20PM - 7:30PM - Announcements
lf we have time, this is your time. Get up and tell us something about yourself. Ask for a job, offer a job. Whatever you want. Keep it brief. I also want to update everyone on the new projector and discuss ways to raise money to buy it.
7:35PM - 8:00PM - JVC GY-HM650U Camera - Alicia Reed
Mobile Newsgathering is now faster and better then ever with the introduction of JVC's GY-HM650. Small and light enough to be used anywhere, this advanced camera surpasses the performance of many traditional ENG style units and offers capabilities never before available on any model. Dual codecs make it possible to record for 2 screens simultaneously: full HD on one memory card and a smaller web-friendly file on another card. Transfer the footage back to the station with the GY-HM650's built-in FTP and WiFi connectivity. Alicia Reed, JVC's District Sales Manager for Professional Video Products will present.
7:35PM - 8:00PM - Atomos Samurai Blade -Heather Williams
At this month's LACPUG meeting we are excited to show off our new Samurai Blade! As with all Atomos recorders, the Samurai Blade is more than simply a recorder, having the ability to record to either the customer's choice of HDDs or SSDs and directly to Avid DNxHD or Apple ProRes. Atomos has incorporated a much higher resolution IPS screen (1280 x 720) into the Blade and even more monitor features, such as waveform and vectorscope, allowing the Blade to perform as a professional monitor as well as recorder and playback deck. With the addition of standard BNC connectors, features like RED File Naming, and the flexibility to add an HDMI to HD-SDI Connect Converter, the Samurai Blade is perfect for all of the popular cameras being used in Hollywood today.
8:30PM - 9:00PM - Break
In the lobby will be many FCP, Avid and Premiere Gurus. JVC will also be there showing off various cams. Also Technicolor will show off Color Assist. This is your chance to ask questions. No questions? Then talk to each other. The break is a chance to hang out and meet and greet and get your problems solved and who knows, get a job. You never know who you are going to meet at lafcpug. Snacks and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby. Proceeds go to the Gallery Theater.
9:00PM - 9:20PM - Boris BCC AVX 8.2 and Avid Media Composer- Kevan O'Brien
Kevan O'Brien will demo the new features of Boris Continuum Complete 8 AVX now available for Avid Media Composer. Boris Continuum Complete 8 AVX gives Avid editors the most comprehensive VFX and compositing plug-in suite ever created. A whopping 200+ filters include 3D Objects such as Extruded Text, 3D particle effects, image restoration tools, lens flares and lights, award-winning chroma keying and compositing, a full suite of color correction tools, time-based effects such as Optical Stabilizer, warp and perspective effects, and blurs, glows, and cinematic effects.
