Randy Ubillos

Join us Wednesday May 27 for another not to be missed lacpug Meet and another chance to network and meet people smarter than you.

We are excited to welcome back to lacpug after a several year absence, Randy Ubillos. Randy announced his retirement from Apple on April 23, 2015 and has graciously agreed to come on down and speak about his own moviemaking experiences. There will be time for questions.

Matt Geller is coming in from Chicago for the West Coast Premiere of "KeyFlow Pro," which allows small collaborative groups to organize, process and share media over small networks without the use of shared storage or costly infrastructure. A must see which is shipping this Summer, 2015.

Also Actress/filmmaker Mare Costello will show and tell about "The Syriana Tate Interview"

Agenda (subject to change)

6:45- 7:15PM - Stump the Gurus
Join Gurus
Monica Daniel, Kylee Wall, Randy Ubillos and Larry Jordan as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

7:20PM - 7:25PM - Announcements
If we have time, this is your time. Get up and tell us something about yourself. Ask for a job, offer a job. Whatever you want. Keep it brief.

7:30PM -8:00PM - The Future of “Personal” Asset Management: KeyFlow Pro - Matt Geller
Matt Geller will be giving us the West Coast Debut of KeyFlow Pro, available this summer in the App Store. KeyFlow Pro allows small collaborative groups to organize, process and share media over small networks without the use of shared storage or costly infrastructure.

8:00PM - 8:20PM - "The Syriana Tate Interview" - Mare Costello
Detroit transplant Actress/Filmmaker Mare Costello will be showing clips from her recently completed feature "The Syriana Tate Interview," as well as, discussing what it was like editing her first full length non-scripted comedy while producing, directing and performing the main character.

About Mare Costello
Actress, Director, Producer, Editor, Writer, Original Music Performer/Composer, DJ, Fine Artist are all descriptions of Mare Costello, although, her primary job title as actress is the most beloved.  She produces, directs and edits merely as a part of the process of creating material she both believes in and gives her the opportunity to thrive creatively with people she truly wants to work with.  Costello auditioned for her first film in Detroit and landed a lead having never acted before in a film.  The director liked her work so much he wrote a part for her in his series as the female lead.  She then began improv training, getting her first Michigan agents, booking commercials, print work, creating short films and even taking a leap as a singer/songwriter which all lead her to producing and editing her own material from music videos to comedic shorts.   With ambitions running high the already multi hyphenate set out to the big world of Hollywood where she continued her training, performing and producing.  Mare now has a wide range of experience in Film, TV, Commercials, Print, Stage and Web.   "As an actress trying to break in there are many challenges you have to face.  I realized in my second year of living in LA (in 2009) that I had to do something special to make myself stand out and be seen and heard.  I wasn’t sure what that was going to be, or if it would really ever happen, then "The Syriana Tate Interview" fell into my lap.”  "The Syriana Tate Interview" is Mare’s maiden voyage into producing, starring, directing, scoring, editing in Final Cut Pro an unscripted full length feature shot on a RED camera.

8:20PM - 8:50PM - Break
This is your chance to ask questions. No questions? Then talk to each other. The break is a chance to hang out and meet and greet and get your problems solved and who knows, get a job. You never know who you are going to meet at lacpug Snacks and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby. Proceeds go to the Gallery Theater.

8:50PM - 9:50PM - Making Movies - Randy Ubillos
Randy will speak about his own moviemaking experiences and the power of video to inspire and document our lives. He will also provide tips and tricks for making your own movies.

About Randy Ubillos
Randy is an avid photographer, videographer and quadcopter pilot. He recently retired from Apple, where he was Chief Architect on a range of products, including Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Pro X, Aperture, iMovie ’08 through ’11 and iPhoto for iOS.
