FCP unexpectedly quit

When I launch FCP I get this error:

"The application Final cut Pro has unexpectedly quit.
The system and other applications have not been affected.

Would you like to submit a bug report to Apple?"

Is there a way to recover from this problem?

Final Cut Pro HD:

Version: 4.5

Is this a new development or the first time you've ever tried to open the application?

Are you opening a particular project, or a fresh one?

Option 1 __________________________

Run "Repair Disk Permissions" on your HDD

Mac HD>Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility

Select your System HDD

Press "Repair Disk Permissions"

Restart your Mac

Try again.


Option 2 __________________________


Trash your FCP Prefs

Option 3 __________________________


Try reinstalling FCP and do "software update" for any FCP updates you need before you run it... Repair Disk Permissions after installation and then Restart and try it.

Get Techtool Pro

All else fails:

It may also be corrupted System so if none of the above works - reinstall the Mac OS X.

Also, in my experience, it's not just necessarily the computer that can cause this problem. What peripheral devices (eg. external drives, capture cards) are you using? Are you running any anti-virus/firewall software?
