XL2 audio capture

FCP5.01 G-5 Dual 2.3 gz, I recorded interviews with Lav mics on a XL-2, being a rookie at that some were recorded on channel 1/2 some 3/4. I am capturing instead of my DSR-11, via XL-2 as I listen via head phones the audio sounds good but after capture play back is very low, what am I missing? I am changing the channels on my camera upon capture to match the channels they were recorded on, hope this all makes sense.

I know this is an obvious one... but could your headphone volume be turned way up?
Also... do you have the mic level set to "auto" or "manual?"
I find that manual mode runs pretty hot.

My head phone volume is up alittle, another problem is that I had the attenuators on which I guess knocks the volume down. Audio is a B@#$%@
