plasmaPosted by Gregory O'Toole
hi everyone!
i have this as a client monitor: [www.cvsmedia.co.uk] and this is a color correction monitor: [www.fullcompass.com] both are running off a Kona3 card. I know that text will look like @#$%& on my computer monitor, but will it also look like @#$%& on this client monitor? edit that - it DOES look like @#$%& on the client monitor, but looks great on the color correction monitor. Does it look bad because the plasma monitor doesn't have high enough resolution (or something), or does it look bad because suddenly i don;t know how to do text anymore? thanks everyone! i can write out my text settings if need be as well.... greg
HOW are you getting the signal to the Client monitor? Component? COmposite?

Composite and SDI are two different things. SDI is very high quality, Composite is the lowest quality you can go. Guessing SDI.
It isn't set to DOWNCONVERT in the Kona control panel or anything is it? www.shanerosseditor.com Listen to THE EDIT BAY Podcast on iTunes [itunes.apple.com]
Its actually the other way around
I'm guessing you are cutting SD and viewing it on those HD monitors If so you will see the pixellation and subsequently the text will look "bad" but this is normal. Think about it - viewing a 720x480 image on a 1280x720 screen... You have roughly 2.5x to 3x the detail on your monitors than a normal SD monitor which will show the lack of detail in your SD output. Now edit a 720 or 1080 sequence with text on these monitors and you should see the text much sharper and less pixellation (unless you are too close to the screens!). Greg - could you expand on your edit, sequence and text settings please.
