I need to downres my QT movie which is 1440 1080 to Standard Def. How would I go about doing this in Final Cut. I heard that you can drop your 1440QT onto a Sequence set for 720 SD and render it out. Then make a new QT. Is this true? I noticed that field dominance is Upper in 1440 but Lower in SD. How will this effect my final outcome? I'm new to the HD world so please go easy on me. Thanks everybody.

Dropping an HDV clip into an SD timeline introduces a field shift filter automatically to deal with the dominance issue. Export a reference movie from your HDV sequence and drop that in a SD time(btw, 480 not 720, HD is 1080 or 720, SD is 480). Then render your hearts delight. It will take a while but its the nature of the beast with HDV...
