Found out FCP on capture now freezes audio meters in order to capture, recalled this from long ago but cannot find where it was read, this losing me a bunch of days wondering why FCP was doing this to me. Was finally able to capture much needed sound to replace audio turned static. But not before having 3 ?capture nows? aborted by dropped frames. Finally went to FCP ?pby el trent - Café LA Re: FCP3, sound meter freezes on "capture now", no sound captured? - 12 years agoHi Jude, Could FCP simply be reloaded? Larryby el trent - Café LA Re: FCP3, sound meter freezes on "capture now", no sound captured? - 12 years agoHi Jude, Turned on G4, looked to be sure audio boxes were all 'checked' in Capture Now window, all were checked and blue. Looked at Finder>preferences> scratch disks, (had a lot of blue boxes w/check marks in them), but all audio boxes were grey and black checks in them, (audio render col, far right, were all blue). Clicking on grey audio boxes didn't change them. Never noticed thisby el trent - Café LA Re: FCP3, sound meter freezes on "capture now", no sound captured? - 12 years agoThanks, Jude, Formac is set to receive analog, and put digital into G4. Believe all appropriate audio video boxes are checked, at least at last attempt to capture because this, audio, is what I need to work on. Source has been both Nagra 1/4" tape and VHS tape as a check through the Formac tv-studio. Not sure it is hardware, it comes up as G4 generated visual for capturing original media. Click on 'virtual capture button", both sound meters freeze still, pix is captured but no sound/audio. Thanks for your helpby el trent - Café LA Re: Having scenes go 'offline' - 14 years agoShane, Your DVD sounds pretty good, will it help me? I got a TB external drive and moved all the work from all drives to it, and did an inventory of all ?71 projects?, which are variations of the same project or parts of it. There are also 14 folders, which contain even more projects. Some good scenes that I need are found intact. Non were trashed yet, but many have offline stuff in them.by el trent - Café LA Having scenes go 'offline' - 14 years agoFCP3, Pmac g-4, 2 120gb, 160gb, 200gb internal hds. I put my project away and just came back to it and found a lot of it is offline. Since just this project is on this computer, I haven't been using folders, just putting clips in the browser. Would this be a reason for losing links and getting offlines? This is still a simple roughcut, no effects or anything fancy. I really value LAFCPUG too. "Occasional spaces make it easier.." Sorry, typed at home on word, it looked pretty legible, looks like that got lost in translation. Being an ex- graphic designer, LAFCPUG column width for type size is toward the extreme and could benefit with more 'leading'. Will try and compensate in future.by el trent - Café LA Re: zapped pram, didn't help - 16 years agoThank you Michael Horton! It came up! Wow! I feel like I am missing the ?Rosetta Stone? here, or could you be the only person who knows this stuff? I cannot find this ?safe boot? in any of my manuals. Could I be missing some manual? I ran disk utilities, and it told that my system disk was checked out on start up? Did it really? But, it started doing this by not mounting a dvd to play, so how will it take the OS disc. The apple logo comes up along w/second hand clock but then goes black. The mouse arrow is there. Added 2 more int. hard drives, and was backing up my edit work, now I know that was an error. The audio, screaming static, appears to be really there. This is just a 'directors' cut. My G4 is a power MAC ZO5N, (off the invoice) tower, purchased in very late dec2002.
