Also with respect, you have a relatively slow machine for heavy duty exports, not to mention Share is kinda slow to begin with and that's on my quad core Mac Pro with 8 GB RAM. And everything RED related requires major firepower. In short, my solution is get a faster machine. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: How to best work with H.264 files in FCP 7 - 14 years agoMake sure you aren't viewing the Alpha channel only in FCP. In general any file that opens and plays in QT player should do the same in FCP. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: OK, so I bought it - 14 years agoJust want to say your wife totally rocks. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: How to best work with H.264 files in FCP 7 - 14 years agoTry converting them to ProRes HQ first. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Blackmagic buys Davinci - 14 years agoAnd here's an update from the man himself, Grant Petty of BMD: -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Blackmagic buys Davinci - 14 years agoAlex4D Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Maybe Blackmagic knows that graphics hardware is > going in the direction of commodity PCs - generic > GPUs will be enough pretty soon. FCP 6 has a 2K resolution limit. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Problem with FC7 share... or just a problem with me and/or my mac - 14 years agoI suspect it will become a lot more usable as hardware accelerates and with Snow Leopard. It is a great feature in theory but maybe a bit ahead of its time. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Problem with FC7 share... or just a problem with me and/or my mac - 14 years agoIt's a wash- I can't do much work during background rendering either and that's on a Quad Core 3GHZ Mac Pro with 8 Gig RAM too... That was the way FCP used to hby NoahK - Café LA Re: FCP 7 and RED footage import - 14 years agoIn FCP you're not 'capturing' anything but you're transcoding. It's either to ProRes or to Native. (or working with Proxy, which I wouldn't recommend because while it does work it's not the most stable workflow in the world). Here's how to get started: I personally think the RAW grading from the R3D's is more warranted for film and 2K and above outputs. If you're working strictly in HD orby NoahK - Café LA Re: FCP 7 and RED footage import - 14 years agoIn FCP 7 there's no need to recapture native. You can use CinemaTools to create a database of your R3D files. Then send the ProRes edit to Color 1.5. Point to the CinemaTools database as your source directory and Color and you'll be grading 4K R3D native. If you plan to do a color correction elsewhere you could still use Color to make a DPX output of your project. Or you could export an EDL fromby NoahK - Café LA Re: Need a DVD replication recommendation - 14 years agoThanks gents, anyone else have suggestions? I'm starting to realize not a lot of folks go as far as replication. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: SUPER OT: DISNEY BUYS MARVEL for 4 Billion $$$... - 14 years agoThis is my favorite Marvel movie yet: -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Need a DVD replication recommendation - 14 years agoI've worked with a bunch of different replicators over the years- and I have to say most of them have been disappointing. They are either too slow, too expensive or just not reliable enough. Has anyone used a replicator that takes DVD-R masters from DVDSP and turns them around quickly with good quality without costing an arm and also a leg? -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Want to buy Mac System for HD Digital Film Editing - 14 years agoDon't get a G5- the current version of FCP no longer supports it. Get a Mac Pro- fastest you can afford with plenty of hard drive space. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Getting rid of letters from video - 14 years agoPaint it out in Photoshop for one frame, then mask and paste over the whole video. If the shot moves, use Motion to track it around. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Wildly OT, transcription software - 14 years agoCoolest part is once you have the text transcript you can click on any word and the video jumps right to the matching spot. We need this badly in FCP... Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Wildly OT, transcription software - 14 years agoYeah- I wouldn't say that's exactly wildly or even mildly off topic tho... Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Pro Res or XDcamEX for editing Canon 5D MKii? - 14 years agoMost definitely ProRes. XDCAM EX is a great codec but I see no point in using it when you don't have to. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Snow Leopard Spells TROUBLE for SxS Users with Express 34 - 14 years agoThat's cheese from Sony though- Snow Leopard is not a 'very recent release from Apple.' Developers have had access to beta builds for many months now. It's obvious they didn't bother to start work on their drivers in time. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: MacBook Pro: 5400rpm system drive vs. 7200. - 14 years agoI will say that the SSD drives completely rock- makes the machine quieter and much lower risk of issues when you drop the machine. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Anyone using Automatic Duck Pro Import AE? - 14 years agoYeah it doesn't really do anything other than bring stuff into AE. It's kind of like asking, hey what are people using their can openers for...by NoahK - Café LA Re: Anyone using Automatic Duck Pro Import AE? - 14 years agoUm- are you asking does it work as advertised or what do folks like to use it for? I've heard nothing but satisfied customers from Automatic Duck products. They're not cheap nor all that sexy either, but they work without incident. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: "RED: The Ultimate Guide to Using the Revolutionary Camera" by Noah Kadner - 14 years agoI just got my first copy back from the printers yesterday- it looks awesome! Should be appearing at online retailers and brick and mortar shops within the week. -Noahby NoahK - News and Announcements Re: Post wants 1080/60i .... But I want 720/24pN Overcranking! - 14 years agoThat's an upconvert and a frame-rate convert, I'd look into plugins from Nattress for that. Though really- who ever heard of a post house that *only* takes 1080/60i? Good luck sticking to that edict and staying in business long in this world. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: OT: Snow Leopard to go on sale THIS FRIDAY... - 14 years agoI see no reason to not upgrade- it's not like there's a history of new Mac OS versions not being supported and ultimately required by all software. Might as well keep up to date and at $29 it's a no brainer. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Slow rendering - 14 years agoIs this a trick question or were you expecting an answer other than, upgrade to a faster machine?by NoahK - Café LA Re: Slide Projector Effect - 14 years agoMagic Bullet Misfire, Nattress Film effects- tons of ways to fake film effects.
