Merely suggesting that if the only reason to take the trouble to online at all was because of the free offer it's not really a necessary step.by NoahK - Café LA Re: FCP to Avid - 14 years agoYeah but um you know- you don't *need* an online if you capture to ProRes. I.e. the Avid offer- as generous as it is- is totally unnecessary and will only delay things... Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: FCP Importing Error - 14 years agoWhat was it shot on- let's start there. Chances are it's a format FCP cannot use. So it would need to be converted to MOV first- probably in the QuickTime Player. You might try the Perian plugin and see if you can get it to open: -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: FCP to Avid - 14 years agoWhy HDV? ProRes HQ is a lot more suitable and FCP-friendly and should cost the same or less at any decent post house- maybe even less because it's a straight 1:1 capture HDCAM>AJA or Blackmagic HD-SDI card>ProRes. Vs. a tape step. Not to mention it's high quality enough you could easily use it as your online- especially if you're finishing on tape or DVD. I'd wager HDCAM>ProResHQ>by NoahK - Café LA Re: WILL SNOW LEOPARD MAKING COMPRESSING VIDEO FASTER??? - 14 years agoNope I said "a new machine and FCP7" Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: ProRez 4444 Alpha compatibility - 14 years agoI'd ask Adobe- perhaps an update is coming... Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: WILL SNOW LEOPARD MAKING COMPRESSING VIDEO FASTER??? - 14 years agoNot so much compared to a new machine and FCP7. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Hiding FCP interferes with Outputting??? - 14 years agoDigitizing and rendering shouldn't be affected. But playing out to tape requires FCP to be the foreground application. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: ProRez 4444 Alpha compatibility - 14 years agoAre you sure you're interpreting it in your settings properly? What happens when you do the same in the Animation codec or a Photoshop image sequence. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: flash question - 14 years agoMaybe you blinked. How would we know we can't see your footage from here? Post a clip on Vimeo if you really want us to help. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: When should I use AC3 on a dvd - 14 years agoI'd always keep the original media- the QuickTimes and AIFs archived somewhere. Because you don't one to be one of those folks in a couple of months asking how to rip off a DVD in high-quality (snort). SO archive those. But on the disc itself should MPEG-2 and AC3, always forever. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: exporting a green screen key as transparency - 14 years agoWell thing is to make that work you need to have Adobe Flash and someone who knows a fair bit about web programming- both of which aren't cheap. You'd shoot greenscreen and key out the BG, then send to Flash with an alpha channel and encode Flash video with an alpha channel. If it were me I'd do the video portion and key it and then sub-contract the Flash video encoding to a Flash expert. You'llby NoahK - Café LA Re: exporting a green screen key as transparency - 14 years agoExport to Animation or ProRes 4444 or to a PSD sequence. But ultimately that will either have to be composited over the same BG color as the website or encoded using Flash with an alpha channel. You can see an example of the latter over at: -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: OT: RIP Patrick Swayze - 14 years agoPoint Break is my favorite. Though I think this is the most honest scene in the film: -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: HD DVD Camcorder/What to BUY - 14 years agoI'm sure there's someone in El Paso who can do this for you for a reasonable fee. Try Craigslist. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: HD DVD Camcorder/What to BUY - 14 years agoHuh what's a 'mini DVD cassette'? What's 'HD DVD'? Those are some confusing terms you're throwing out there... Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: ProRes Proxy playback performance - 14 years agoI find it to be pretty solid on my Mac Pro from a fast system hard drive. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Live Type - 14 years agoNo it will remain. Though of course anyone who buys FCP 7 new without the upgrade won't have Livetype. It's functionality is considered to be folded into Motion 4. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Nested Sequences and EDLs - 14 years agoYeah that won't work too well- EDLs rely on simple links to original media. Once you start to nest it hugely complicates matters. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Motion to FCP red problem - 14 years agoEeek- deja vu. I saw this thread an hour ago on DVXuser. No need to cross post guys... Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: OT ProRes 422 and new QT for Windows megacool - 14 years agoCan we get this moved to the Unpaid Testimonials forum perhaps? Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Good place to output to HDCAM form FCP in Burbank?? - 14 years agoI think Abel Cine Tech has post services up there, if not Lightning Dubbs across from Warner Bros. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: OT: Is it me or Share has always been there? - 14 years agoIt's new but I suspect it's showing up in QT as part of regular updates. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Problems with G-Drives? - 14 years agoThat could do it as well. I will just say in general G-Tech is pretty high end and three drives failing for you in a row says to me it's something from your environment, not the drives. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: d - 14 years agoI'm going to suggest halfway between c and e to fix that up. What are your system specs? Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Key problem - 14 years agoPost a still. Keying is 90% production and 10% post if done properly. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: FCP 5.1.4 choppy playback of 10 bit video - 14 years agoAt what data rate and on which hard drive? It's easy to overwhelm modest hard drives with too much data- which causes stuttering. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Problems with G-Drives? - 14 years agoHave you turned off the put hard drives to sleep whenever possible in System Preferences>Energy Saver. That should help... Otherwise that it's happened so often and with a solid brand like G-Tech would lead me more to the belief that your laptop has a false contact in the Firewire port. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Thoughts/suggestions on best FCP filter for that film look for HD 720p24? - 14 years agoOr um shoot and light it cinematically. That always helps.... A LOT.
