Click HERE to register now Re: Upcoming QT 10 and FCS 3? - 14 years agoI think I've read somewhere that some or all of the QT Pro features are being folded into the regular version of QT you get included with Snow Leopard, but I don't see how that invalidates anything. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: iPhone Sequence Settings - 14 years agoConvert to ProRes- that would do the trick. H.264 has never been an RT codec in FCP. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: iPhone Sequence Settings - 14 years agoAs in what? Like a movie that someone else made for iPhone you're trying to re-edit? Tell us about the movie itself- where did it come from and what are its settings. FCP is not native in MP4, for one thing... Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: What do I need to upgrade my System for the new FCP - 14 years agoYou need a Mac Pro. In other words, an upgrade to a whole new system. -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: proxy vs aic - 14 years agoI dunno, to my eyes ProRes proxy looks pretty good. Wouldn't want to finish with it but compared to a lot of the older 'finishing' codecs we once used in QT Player it's pretty sharp and clean. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: FCS 3 may run on PPCs! - 14 years agoOnly problem I see is: some people go ahead and do this, then come back to this and other forums when all hell breaks loose as a result. And of course the last thing they'll actually admit to after we all waste our time trying to figure out the problem is- "Oh yeah, I did happen to hack FCP 7 to run on my G5/G4/PPC, but I'm sure *that's* not the problem..." Then it kind of does make thiby NoahK - Café LA Re: Cant find sequence. I need a good detective - 14 years agoMay I suggest you get Chronosync. It can be set to auto backup any items or your entire HD at specific intervals and totally rocks. I have it set to automatically backup anything new on my documents and media folders at 10pm every night. Even does it wirelessly to the home server we have. Works like a charm. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Long File Names - 14 years agoThere's a 31 character limit on Mac for file names including extension. Also I would recommend against spaces anywhere in a file name. That will mess you up with some FTP and web transfers as well as choke some LTO and other archival systems. You should always use an underscore instead. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: OT: HD DVD comes back... - 14 years agoHmm China Blue High-definition Disc, eh? Well that should be a very simple format to replicate. Release one copy and the rest will copy themselves... Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Final Cut Studio 3 may have price me out of using it. - 14 years agoYeah what Jeff said. It really doesn't sound like you need FCS 3. Just because it now requires Intel- not a big surprise since Power PCs have been off the market for years now- doesn't mean your FCS 2 is suddenly going to stop working. But yeah if you want the latest update, you need to update your hardware to stick with the times. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: my footage vibrates - 14 years agoYeah I'd try slo-mo'ing in Motion maybe. Or just cutting to something else. 90% is like nothing. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: my footage vibrates - 14 years agoI ask a second time, there will not be a third. What sort of footage is it? Frame rate, codec, camera, etc. -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: my footage vibrates - 14 years agoPost some stills. Sounds like interlacing issues. What sort of footage is it? Frame rate, codec, camera, etc. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: LaCie Big Drive power problem - 14 years agoWhich is to say- not a fan of LaCie. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Final Cut Pro 7: Use free tools to make your own single-document manual - 14 years agoI don't see any real concerns about a rights issue- it would be a problem if this thread had a link to a processed file but all it is are instructions for viewing documents you have every right to view in a specific way that's more convenient. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Black Magic Decklink HD EXtreme HDMI Question - 14 years agoAlso crack out the manual of the display- I'm sure it only accepts a certain number of resolutions/frame rates. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Final Cut Pro 7: Use free tools to make your own single-document manual - 14 years agoMike- this thread should be a sticky. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Black Magic Decklink HD EXtreme HDMI Question - 14 years agoHave you tried both HDMI connections on the Blackmagic? Though it's not labeled, one is In and one is Out. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Print to Video problem. - 14 years agoWhat happens when you just play out- print to video is not really useful for an HDV camera. Not all of them have addressable timecode anyway. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: voice over tool - 5 second pre-roll - can you kill it? - 14 years agoAFAIK not with VO tool but there are a lot of different ways to record audio elsewhere on a Mac. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Final Cut Studio (2009): Frakking Documentation... - 14 years agoI'd think someone (i.e. not me) could write a simple Apple Script to compile the HTML help files back into PDF and distribute that though... I can almost guarantee that will get results a lot quicker than trying to online petition Apple for it. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: DVX100 24P/ 24PA on DV/NTSC timeline - 14 years agoYeah really depends whether you're removing 24pA pulldown or not. Otherwise all modes come out 29.97. And I would suggest getting a proper telecine of the 8mm footage. It's relatively cheap and will look way better than shooting it off a screen. Try Pro 8mm in Burbank: -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: PAL DVD - 14 years agoIt's a lot of extra work- but yes basically convert master files and redo menus. Is the client aware that just about all PAL TVs and DVD players play NTSC discs, as long as the region is open? Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Is it possible to burn a blu-ray disc from FCS-3 (final cut 7, dvdsp5) ? - 14 years agoCourse you need a burner but then, yes. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: high def - 14 years agoDo you have a monitoring card? If not you should get an AJA or a Blackmagic. I happen to love the HP Dreamcolor monitor. It's amazing for what you get for $2K: Feed it HDMI or Component. -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Sony FX1 to FCP - 14 years agoThe 1080i/60 HDV Easy Setup should do the trick. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: New Academic Price for FCS Kills it For This Teacher - 14 years agoyeah but ultimately you still need FCP if you want to work professionally. So that's 299 + 899 in the end. Not worth it... Noahby NoahK - Café LA |
