Re: OT: New software in 2010 - What's the deal on the hardware? - 14 years agoYeah it is quite thick for the sightly space pci's., but it would be a huge step up from what i mentioned. I have read only good things on it. I have been waiting to see a monster cuda card.by J.Corbett - Café LA OT: New software in 2010 - What's the deal on the hardware? - 14 years agoI thought it would be good to get some chatter on new video cards, drive connectivity, and new cutting edge hardware. What the next, released or close to release, big thing? I have been eyeing a new video card and these seem to be the new hot thing. Then open them in compressor and use the aiff 48/16 preset to convert.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: converting wma files for use in FCP 6 - 14 years agowill they play in iTunes?by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: 1280x720 to 4:3 for broadcast - 14 years agoi got it in. while i am on this export topic. When i did the compressor thing a strange thing happened. The sound seemed to be off by 2secs. The SCQT play as expected but after convert in compressor.... its out of sync. very odd.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: 1280x720 to 4:3 for broadcast - 14 years ago15second spot. i out put with qt conversion with these settings. it has 1 very slight gitter in about a 4-8 frame area buy i have to go with it in 20m.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: 1280x720 to 4:3 for broadcast - 14 years agoI have a QT h264 6400k file which they can take but i was trying to get a higher quality.by J.Corbett - Café LA 1280x720 to 4:3 for broadcast - 14 years agoi have a 1280x720 50fps file that needs to be show on in broadcast as ntsc 720x480 29.97fps my aspect is 16:9 but they broadcast in standard definition 4:3. They also want it in prores which it already is. What would be the best settings to use to convert or export this in? The fps is my bigger worry. If i go into motion and do a slight change then go back to fcp once the .motn updates the file looks corrected in fcp. But after the render i get the stretched element and it is the only photo effected. I will be exporting the .mov from Motion and using that instead but i really would like to know whats the deal.by J.Corbett - Café LA Round rip Weirdness - 14 years agoI have a .motn file in my TL. The file only has text and pics 1 camera and some animation keyframes. It looks good in motion, and looked good in fcp until i put the last photo into my client asset folder with the rest of the pics that are included in this project. I did have to reconnect the file in motion after the move. What is happening here and how do i fix it. HERES HOW IT LOOKS Iby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Looking for a good tutorial series - 14 years agoI would try Lynda.com they have a very good usage series on Motion 3&4. They have some techniques but that only makes up about 25% of the training on the site. FXPHD is much more pricier but more techniques than Lynda.by J.Corbett - Motion Re: applying same properties to several layers at the same time? - 14 years agoNope, You can do it all at once. shift select the elements and then open your HUD or Inspector and make your changes. However, if you change the font size it will mess up your spacing and you would have to manually reset this. Also you will have to move the elements manually any ways to get it back to where its was. The justification change will shift all of your elements quite a bit. If not then i may be telling you some abc stuff here. If the scrub-line is at say 5s in a 10s motion sequence but you have an element that comes in @ 2s and out@4s then the scrub-line is not over the element and in your layers tab it will be inactive. The other one i can think of is is you right click on a layer you willby J.Corbett - Motion From 720 to 1080 Text commercial - 14 years agoi have a 720p 1280x720 motion project. I like it its just text with some cam movement and 8 pics for a 15s spot. I want to make it 1920x1080. How is this done in Motion3?by J.Corbett - Motion Re: OT: Thank You Adobe - AE & PS - 14 years agoYeah, Apple has a mountain to climb after seeing this. FCS4 has to be an intense upgrade. I still use FCS2 because FCS3 didn't seem to be meaty enough. Especially with Production Premium CS4 available on the same machine. I think Apple has seriously neglected FCS and it will be really obvious now that CS5 is out. They need to merge Motion and Shake to get an AE equivalent. It has gotten to thby J.Corbett - News and Announcements Re: Need Help with .MTS Conversion for FCP - 14 years agoClipwrap does a very nice job. It is rather fast and clean. Those distortions are not abundant and for the speed and quality, I can live with it. I believe what clipwrap does differently is rewrap instead of convert or compress the file. Less compression cleaner results. Voltiac is ssSLOWww but good results. Log and transfer seems to be one of the slowest ways to do it. Production Suiteby J.Corbett - News and Announcements OT: Thank You Adobe - AE & PS - 14 years agoI cant believe there is no post about Production Premium CS5. This web cast is kinda long but you will love the overview of AE & PS. Check out the new Masking Brush in AE and there is extrusion in PS. Plus PS can now create a custom mask in seconds. The pictures range in size from 800x480 to 3500x2880-ish. Is there something out there that can either sort by size or search a particular folder by size and show the results?by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: OT: Production Stages and Time Clock - 14 years agosounds like a dream system. If you get the 2 to talk to each other let me know. For right now Merlin and iBiz will do the trick even if they don't communicate its better than my spread sheets and flow charts. I was also wondering if Merlin logged the actual time in an app. like you open merlin and click something that opens say fcp and merlin logs the time spent in the application for that prby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Need Help with .MTS Conversion for FCP - 14 years agoAndy Mees, I am using clipwrap v2.1 NOW to convert AVCHD. You get field distortion about 3% of the time but its so fast that its not a problem re-wraping. I have voltiac too but its speed is like molasses in comparison to clipwrap. Is there a quality difference? not sure, but i like what i get.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Dual G5 2.3 vs MBP 2.53 (Late 2008) - 14 years agoDerek, ClipWrap doesn't run on ppc?by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: OT: Production Stages and Time Clock - 14 years agoMerlin looks complicated but very detailed and visual. I will download the demo this week and see. It might be the ticket. I also found iBiz have a look at it. Its more fiscal than project driven but you can really get clients under a handle with it. You might want to look at that for the billing if your not already there. I have a crm but it is overkill and really not good for the videoby J.Corbett - Café LA OT: Production Stages and Time Clock - 14 years agoI have been using ical and a numbers worksheet to log clients and the 5 stages of production. In my case i have to track. Client / date started / due date source material collection (stage 1 on my chart) Materials Size (mb or gig) Edit (stage 2) Graphics (stage 3) Color (stage 4) Delivery (stage 5) I want to add some type of timer for each stage, so i can get an accurate idea of howby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Magic Bullet Looks Dual Mon + HDMI config - 14 years agoThat sucks and should be a part of the next update. It is a really nice plug and will still be used but they gotta keep up with what the industry wants before CoreMelt or some other company comes with an alternative.
