Re: Avid Hardware Interface - 12 years agoBoy...if Avid MC 6.0 opened up to all KONA / BM boards...they would really grab a huge marketshare hovering in FCP limbo right now. I still have that "Avid Proprietary-ism" stuck in my head and kinda prevents me from going that way full tilt.by grafixjoe - Avid Media Composer Re: Betting Everything on FCP X - 12 years agoReally? Reality shows have 17 minute deadlines? No wonder they all look like they were cut by a 14 year old hopped up on Frosted Flakes. This thread is nauseating. 28 minute show in 17 minutes? At a rate of $100 per hour, you would invoice for $28.00? Great. How do you bill for the new "soopah-fast FCP X"...by the minute? Jr. High schools are going to have this in their libraries. If Apby grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: Avid goes 64 bits - 12 years agoI haven't done a single grafix pass for an Avid in 8 years. That's how much FCP has saturated the Florida market. I used to do Animation files w/alpha. Now I believe ProRes 4444 w/Alpha works. I do not think DNxHD carries an Alpha Channel...does it?by grafixjoe - Avid Media Composer Re: Avid goes 64 bits - 12 years agoSo glad I didn't pull the trigger on the MC 5.5 upgrade yet...this MC 6 looks much nicer. I am sure Avid will have a nice "ABANDON SHIP" price scheme for FCP users like us. I am on it. Still...Premiere kicks ass for working with straight DSLR material without transcoding. Rock on.by grafixjoe - Avid Media Composer Re: Which way? - 12 years agoI will use FCP 7 until it won't boot anymore. Hopefully iMovie Pro will catch up by then and I will buy it. Already started cutting my 2011 Demo Reel on Premiere CS 5.5 which usually is the sign of things to come. I have an old Avid Express Pro dongle so I qualify for a Media Composer 5.5 upgrade for $550 which is shweet. Meanwhile, back on the farm... Apple has another record profit quarteby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Avid Hardware Interface - 12 years ago...can't monitor & output on software alone...by grafixjoe - Avid Media Composer Re: HELP... I NEED FCP7 (FCStudio 3)... Apple Promised me, but aren't doing anything! - 12 years agoAre you serious? We're all in the same boat...and Apple's firing cannonballs at us. Welcome to the party pal. You might wanna try Ebay or resellers that might still have stock.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: New MBP i7 17"- Upgrade from 4 to 8 Gigs RAM? - 12 years agoShould be automatic for $85.00:by grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: Laying off 5.1 to HDCAM-SR - 12 years agoAssuming you have your audio tracks set up correctly in the sequence, "Edit To Tape" always works for me.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Thought for the day - 12 years agoFCP X is not an EOL product. FCP 7 is.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: CHV releases the first ever native FxPlug plugins for FCP X - 12 years agoI too thought that was a "snotty" response by NI to your post Christoph. Good for you!!by grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: What do you use for remote approvals/client reviews/feedback? - 12 years agoH264 via Dropbox and / or my FTP account.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Rimage Transfer Roll for Everest II / III - 12 years agoAnyone know what this is about?by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Briefing for professionals in London by Apple - 12 years agoThere's only ONE Hollywood Christoph. There is a HUGE film & video business there though.by grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: Briefing for professionals in London by Apple - 12 years agoQuotecraig seeman You're such an FCPX fanboy! I'm a "get my honking schedule of work done using the most efficient tools available with the least amount of workarounds and FCP X isn't there yet for me" Fanboyby grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: Briefing for professionals in London by Apple - 12 years agoQuoteMike Horton So London gets the world premiere of X at the SuperMeet and now gets all this info first. What is it with London? I'm moving there. I know, right? And Vegas gets the "BIG GAMBLE" announcement (ironic, ain't it??). The Post Productions Gods love England...so do I. Let's go.by grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: If Apple's lost Larry....... - 12 years agoAre you serious Tom? Garage Band Pro?by grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: Curious what direction LAFCPUGers are going? Remain with FCP or switch? - 12 years agoHey...stranger things have happened. I used to attend "Orlando Avid User Group Meetings" here in Orlando before FCP took the market by storm. They changed their names to "Orlando Post Pros". Now that Apple is killing FCP, it only makes sense to adjust. It really hit me last night what is going on when my school FXPHD made a statement students are asking for alternative traiby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Curious what direction LAFCPUGers are going? Remain with FCP or switch? - 12 years agoWell said Walter - on the $$$. I have it on good authority that at NAB 2012, Adobe will make editors very happyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Steve Jobs to video pros: stop whining - 12 years ago...getting really tired of these "informing everybody what's circulating" posts. We all know what's circulating. We are trying to make it work in our toolbelts. Sorry for the rant PS...this line should have been a clear sign that it was a joke: "Apple will be revolutionizing other apps in the same way they revolutionized FCP X: by removing key features."by grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: What system will I need? - 12 years agoYou mean this (this is what I use)...by grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: Curious what direction LAFCPUGers are going? Remain with FCP or switch? - 12 years agoPremiere has come a long way and you just cannot beat the Customer Care you get with Premiere. Adobe is on a mission to LISTEN TO US and implement features that make us more productive...period. I will probably pick up FCP X on the next release but my next project and forward will be cut in Premiere. I already spoke to Dave Helmly from Adobe (he Demo'd PP CS 5.5 for us at EA - blew me away)...Davby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: What system will I need? - 12 years agoIf your machine doesn't like FCP 7, it's gonna gag on FCP X (from what I am hearing from users). You should follow Apple's website recommendations closely. Make sure your video card is not on the "NOT COMPATIBLE LIST", make sure you have max RAM, etc. I am hearing peeps with Core2Duos (old school - i7s are all the rage now for SPEED) having loads of speed issues & crashing with FCPby grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: Brinkmann comment - 12 years agoQuotedcouzin Working methods have little to do with market. Yeah...I'll disagree with that completely. My methods in my (Florida) market are nowhere near what the long form feature guys are using in L.A., Aussie, London and elsewhere. It's overkill for what I do (3 minutes & under). FCP X is not ready for my type of work methods which my market dictates. Nobody I know is using it for profby grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: Fair and Balanced review: FCP X - great or not? - 12 years ago...outstanding.by grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: My first Final Cut Pro X effect: An improved Mask effect - 12 years agoLove it Alex! Useless for anything but playback.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: The effect "Looks" failed to render... - 12 years agoLooks 2 is not a new release. It's an upgrade to an already stable plug-in.by grafixjoe - Café LA |
