Re: Plasma vs LCD vs LED for external monitoring - 12 years agoQuote$26,000! Yeeeow! QuoteYeah, but you can feel good about all that energy you are saving. ...and it LOOKS GOODby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Plasma vs LCD vs LED for external monitoring - 12 years agoThis is interesting...I just started learning about OLED Monitors:by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Help with removing static please? - 12 years agoQuoteI got this off a CD from a game. ...very illegal.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Plasma vs LCD vs LED for external monitoring - 12 years ago"was"? j/k - jeez...no sense of humorby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Plasma vs LCD vs LED for external monitoring - 12 years agoDudes...Rock / Paper / Scissors already and get it over withby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: H.264 taking too long - 12 years agoYou also did not mention your H264 settings. We need all the details. Your processors are gagging. The newer i7 quad cuts that render time down to less that half. 4 cores and 4 virtual cores (8 total) all cooking at once. I had a 2.8 Core 2 Duo and it sucked with H264s. The i7 is night and day.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: H.264 taking too long - 12 years ago...you STILL told us nothing about your computer except how large the screen is and how much RAM you have. H264 encoding is not on the RAM...it's on the processor(s) / cores / threads.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Best dust eliminator (besides reshooting) - 12 years agoMight try RGS Denoiser for $99:by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Getting The Shaft on a Payment - 12 years agoQuoteI do have a one-page memo deal sent via email, with a response from him agreeing to the terms. That email doc is is time / date stamped and legal proof - should be enough to go after him with a lawyer. I would think a letter on lawyer letterhead mentioning that email agreement between you is enough to scare the a-hole into ponying up what he owes to avoid court. The only thing worse thaby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Getting The Shaft on a Payment - 12 years agoAdvising after the fact is moot. I would have gotten a signed agreement with a 50 / 25 / 25 payment scheme as ESPN probably has bigger lawyers than you do. Is this a sub-contract or straight from ESPN Studios? You will need a lawyer...and please spread the word (word of mouth - be careful not to libel yourself) about who hired you so it won't happen to others.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Have you used either of these RAID 5 enclosures? - 12 years agoStardom SOHO RAID - yes. I do not recommend. I had a lot of problems and returned it. OWC has hooked me up in every way to date. I buy most of my stuff from them now.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: What good is extra RAM for FCP 7? - 12 years agoIt's not so much good for FCP as it allows you to run multiple apps very fast along side of FCP. I have 8 GB RAM on my MBP and I generally have FCP / AE / PS / Firefox all running at once all day and they all fly. I would max the RAM out but it is highway robbery what they are asking for MBP 16 GB RAM kit ($1400) when the 8 GB kit is $85.00. They should be bloody ashamed of themselves.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Producers that don't pay!!!!! - 12 years agoInvoice for 50% down to start should be the NORM for new clients. Invoice for 25% along with an approval H264. Invoice for the final 25% along with the final approved deliverables. This way, if the clients want to be dirtbags at the end, at least you got 75% paid. I would not move forward until the approval invoice is paid.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Producers that don't pay!!!!! - 12 years agoI "deadbeat list" is so wrong it's scary. Lawsuits abound. You cannot publicly "out" these people, I am telling you. It's not professional even if it is warranted. You will only screw yourself in the end. Good luck those with short tempers.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: mov to flv? HELP - 12 years agoIf you have Adobe Production Premium, you already have a tool: Media Encoderby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Adobe Encore - 12 years agoAdobe Production Premium comes with MUCH MORE that just Photoshop & After Effects folks. The cross grade is the best deal out there (Avid does not come close): Premiere Pro CS5.5 After Effects CS5.5 (includes Synthetic Aperture Color Grading plugin / Mocha for AE / Freeform and more) Photoshop CS5 Extended (This is NOT the basic Photoshop!!) Illustrator Cby grafixjoe - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Producers that don't pay!!!!! - 12 years ago"Getting stiffed" is the #1 reason why I opt for RFT work (full time Studio Staff) and not depend on freelance to feed my family. I have been burned...and I don't like it. I keep a full time gig and I only pursue and take freelance work from people that I have either worked with before or people that I have been referred to by people I have worked with before. First question (even beforby grafixjoe - Café LA OT: DaVinci Resolve Lite (Mac) FREE DOWNLOAD with full manuals!! - 12 years agoIn case anyone is interested in replacing the dead Color:by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: learning premiere pro on a pc?? - 12 years agoCould be Jon...by grafixjoe - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Producers that don't pay!!!!! - 12 years agoI hope this was a joke. I didn't enjoy this...it's disturbing. When you take on a client for 30 days @ $1,000, you get what you get. You priced yourself right into this situation. Consider yourself lucky you got $500 and "Lesson Learned". Since you posted this up for all to see and comment on, I will give you my 2 cents. I think the way you handled this is really tacky & bad formby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: learning premiere pro on a pc?? - 12 years agoOh god...whole world of crap in the PC world. Yeah it's cross platform but many things can screw you in different ways on the PC that do not exist on the Mac. They do not troubleshoot the same at all. It is so huge there are separate Mac / PC forums on Avid's site...and the PC side is twice as full of issues. Man I this forum stays Mac-dominant and doesn't go PC. May want to consider starting anby grafixjoe - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Avid Hardware Interface - 12 years agoI kinda figured that...that it's the market that dictates that...because I do the "soup to nuts" on all my work...rough cut to finishing. There is no "offline" in our vocabulary at this studio. I do worry about broadcast safe / color correction as well as story line & timing throughout.by grafixjoe - Avid Media Composer OT: Welcome back Atlantis... - 12 years agoI tiny break from complaining & troubleshooting to enjoy a little US History...I was awaken early this morning to the double sonic boom rattling my house windows by Atlantis re-entering the atmosphere. It is a familiar sound in Florida. Sadly, it is the last time I will hear it. Welcome back Atlantis...and so long to the Space Shuttle Programby grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: Adobe releases known OS 10.7 Lion Issues - 12 years agoI am not going anywhere near Lion for at least 6 months. I am timing the Lion upgrade with the FCP X upgrade.by grafixjoe - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Avid Hardware Interface - 12 years agoI keep hearing that term "offline". For me in my market, that does not exist. I go from rough cut to finished Master on the same system (FCP for the last 8 years). Around 9 years ago I used to be on the old G3 Avid ABVB systems where I had to cut in a reduced "offline" resolution because of drive space. Technology has made off-lining obsolete for me. Adobe's round-tripping ofby grafixjoe - Avid Media Composer Re: Betting Everything on FCP X - 12 years agoNobody is missing your point. It IS about quality. Cannot believe you do not see that (?!).by grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: Betting Everything on FCP X - 12 years agoNope. Skimming is crap. That is not editing. That is not our trade. That is hacking...just like the way Apple hacked FCP X together to release it before it was done. Perfect metaphor.by grafixjoe - Café LA - X Re: Betting Everything on FCP X - 12 years agoHow do you "slap together" a 28 minute show in 17 minutes without watching your edits or the show in general? This is BS - sorry...not buying it one bit.by grafixjoe - Café LA - X |
