(theres one screen shot on the apple In Action site that looks suspiciously like "tracks" for the audio)....but even with now 3 improvement upgrades, audio is still the deal breaker for us. If it's an hour long with XDCAM or HDV it could indeed take several hours.. Your best bet is to set your rendering to Prores in the timeline ...it will export faster. I've got the fastest Macbook Pro - 8 gigs of ram and it's very slow -- the background rendering may be the problem And can someone explain why youcan't make a transition on a second track of video? It transitions everything including what's below it (want to fly in titles without the built in title effects - nothing doing - it flies that in and transitions tby Andy Field - Café LA - X Best FCP to AVID Tutorial yet - 12 years agoAvid's new MC 6 site has a terrific primer on how to take your FCP 7 skills and use them quickly in AVID -- even though they demo on MC 6 everything they discuss applies to 5.5 as well -- this helped alot in speeding my migration from my "sad to say goodbye" FCP 7 to MC (The tutorials are at the bottom of the page) go here Avid's FCP to MC quick switch tutorialsby Andy Field - Avid Media Composer Re: 2 questions about Avid AMA - 12 years agoI've been struggling with Automatic Duck FCP to Avid -- it seems that transcoding whatever you are doing to DNXHD first (edit however you'd like - then media manage and transcode to DNXHD) THEN do the automatic Duck - and it will work fairly well getting it to AVID PRO-RES also works but not as consistently and I'm not sure why also Avid 5.5.3 seems to be the winner in using Automatic Dby Andy Field - Avid Media Composer Re: FCP to AVID Via Autoduck or Boris Transfer - 12 years agoWell after many tests i've discovered 1 - if you edit in FCP - then transcode the finished timeline to DNxHD - it works 2 - DVCPRO HD is hit or miss - sometimes yes - sometimes not - all in the same timeline This is all with AMA Relinking in Avid 5.5.3 ------- I've yet to get Boris Transfer to work Forget motion effects or titles - they don't carry over Color correction filtersby Andy Field - Avid Media Composer FCP to AVID Via Autoduck or Boris Transfer - 12 years agoAlthough I'd rather keep editing in FCP 7 - client insists on delivering finished work in AVID MC 5.5 - Have tried everything Autoduck - Boris Transfer - nothing works cleanly - has anyone had any experience and can offer tips . Have watched all the online tutorials and THEY all work perfectly. Doesn't seem to work at all with XDCAM -- and it's hit or miss with DVCPRO HD -- would gladly paby Andy Field - Avid Media Composer Re: CalDigit VR Mini RAID Question - 12 years agoAs long as you keep it off the Rickshaw you should be fine - I've jostled mine around from coast to coast and they've been rock solid -- keep them in bubble wrap in your equipment bag if you're worried about vibration -- and as a general rule - not good to keep any electronic equipment around dust and dirt -- as you only need the drives to ingest footage and edit - I can't image you need to keepby Andy Field - Café LA Re: Shortcut Keys in Premiere Pro from a FCP editor's perspective - 12 years agoThanks Kevin - will file the request now --by Andy Field - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Shortcut Keys in Premiere Pro from a FCP editor's perspective - 12 years agoKevin -- how do you OPTION CLICK a transition point to add a transition in PP -- went to the keyboard shortcuts and you can OPTION and use a letter or number but doesn't seem to be a way to assign OPTION CLICK so it will work similar to FCP 7 -- very sad we're all jumping through hoops to find something new to replace FCP 7 as we're all convinced a future Lion or QT upgrade will break our nby Andy Field - Adobe Premiere Pro CC |
