So, it isn't new to Snow Leopard (though some parts of the issue may be SL specific). As you discovered, the Finder is not capable of properly setting permissions for mounted volumes. You would have to use the Terminal or other tools. It's too bad they didn't test things prior to installing the new Mac Pros. You've already spent a bunch (too much) of time on this issue... Next time you upgrade your RAID, or get new drives, you may want to use one of those tools to test things before you need to use them for real work. If you're going to use a RAID-0, you must expect it to fail at any time. So, you should keep regular, full backups of the data unless you are just using the RAID as temporary/scratch storage. In other words, back up all of that data to a FireWire, or other, drive ASAP, then deal with the issue (without the threat of data loss). That's why QT Player 7 has a setting you can toggle to turn off ColorSync for FCP compatibility... It may very well have been a graphics card driver issue that was resolved simply by switching ColorSync profiles in the Displays system preference... Color and DVD Studio are not scriptable... And, of course, Shake has its own scripting system (which is how it works internally)... You can check for yourself. Open AppleScript Editor.app and try to load the dictionary/library for FCP and other FC Studio apps... It would bby D-Mac - Café LA |
