FOR SALE: Color Finesse COLOROCITER Control Surface - 12 years agoFor any of you who work with Color Finesse, here is a good deal on their control surface, which they call the "Colorociter". it's a great system. What I like about Color Finesse is that it is a plug-in, and allows for the stacking of plug-ins to achieve (and see as you go) an effect. Go here: Colorociter or here: eBayby wgazecki - lafcpug Market Re: Endlessly Crashing - Need Professional Help - 15 years agoThanks. That's good feedback and I'm willing to accept it. I was having a great time until I switched rom the PPC to the Intel. I did everything by the book in the change-over. Clearly there are upgrade/crossgrade issues. I wish they made it easier to find where the problems are. WGby wgazecki - Café LA Re: Endlessly Crashing - Need Professional Help - SYSTEM TECH SPECIFICS - 15 years agoThank you. I'm going to live with my current config for a week or so, just to observe. I'll report back... Hopefully my system is "as good as it gets". Thanks for all the feedback- many small suggestions have been helpful. I don't really know if I'm in the clear, yet- have to do more work to see. WGazeckiby wgazecki - Café LA Re: Endlessly Crashing - Need Professional Help - SYSTEM TECH SPECIFICS - 15 years agoI am so NOT surpised by what you say. It's really the only thing that makes sense. Because what DOESN'T make sense is all this meticulous re-building when there is no apparent problem with the system that warrants such demanding attention. People who have 10, 20 years experience in computers generally don't mess up their systems to the degree that they need to be completely rebuilt from scratch,by wgazecki - Café LA Re: Endlessly Crashing - Neede Professional Help - 15 years agoThank you- good advice. I DO try and only change one thing at a time, then wait to allow results to show. Hadn't thought about re-installing vs "putting back" the plug ins. Will do. I do use the Sonnet controlled RAIDS with other apps (Photoshop mainly), and there have been no problems there. I have re-installed the Sonnet driver recently- didn't appear to make any difference. Asby wgazecki - Café LA Re: Endlessly Crashing - Neede Professional Help - 15 years agoI'm still dealing with it. yes, I did remove ALL the plug-ins. There was a definite improvement. Then i started putting ones back in, starting with what I use the most (the essentials). That seemed OK, but then I added a coulpe more and things started to get whacky. So I just took them out and am working again. We'll see. It all seems really touchy. Can't do much about the Sonnet card right noby wgazecki - Café LA Re: Endlessly Crashing - Need Professional Help - 15 years agoThanks. I ithink it's the plug-ins. I can deal with trouble-shooting that, replacing them one at a time over time.I removed them all and it looks like the symptoms have abated. Still watching the situation carefully, but so far so good. Thanks for the feedback- this has been a tough one. Here is my system layout: G5 MacPro 3.0 GHz octocore; 8GB RAM; OS 10.5.6; Radeon HD 2600 Display card; Sonnet E4P SATA Host Controller interfaced with four external 5-drive SATA RAIDs using SATA port multipliers and Softraid 3.6.7; 3-drive internal RAID also using Softraid; video interface is via a Decklink HD Extreme 2, using SW version 6.8.3; using FCS2, FCP 6.0.5by wgazecki - Café LA Endlessly Crashing - Neede Professional Help - 15 years agoI have done everything I know is humanly possible, but FCP continues to incessantly crash. I'm a professional video editor and have been building and maintaining my own systems since 1991. FCP is crashing under many mundane circumstances, from opening bins to placing clips on the timeline. Rendering is fine. QT outputting is fine. I've been editing in FCP for 5 years or so. Until recently Iby wgazecki - Café LA Re: PPC-to-Intel - 15 years agoThanks to you all. Answered all my conerns. I definitely plan to do a fresh format/install on all apps. Any thoughts on whether I should upgrade to Leapoard or not? Seems like I probably should, although I've heard there are stability issues? Thanks again, Williamby wgazecki - Café LA PPC-to-Intel - 15 years agoHi- I apologize if this is a redundant question. I thought I already knew the answer, but now I am unsure. I'm running FCS II, 6.0.3. on a PPC. When switching from PPC to Intel, do I need to get a different version, or is the one I have universal? Thanks, Wmby wgazecki - Café LA Strangest, most bizarre playback problem I have ever seen - 15 years agoThis is really a strange one, and it might take a bit to explain fully. My system is a G5 Dual 2.5PPC with 7GBRAM, using a Sonnet E4P SATA controller driving 4-drive enclosures with 4 drives in each, all hooked up as 2-drive RAIDS (16 drives, 8 RAIDS total, using 1 SATA port multiplier in each 4-drive box). Using OS 10.4.10. Been working on a project since FCP 4.5. Have had no problems until now. Audio on all timelines is generally out of sync. The amount varies, from a few frames to kinda-sorta out. Seems like the audio is lagging mostly. If I stop the playback, then start again from the same point, the sync changes. Sometimes, after doing this 2 or 3 times, iby wgazecki - Café LA Re: problems with Voice Over - 17 years agoThank you. That helped. I got it to work. Funny thing is, when you turn External Video to off, it works, but then if you turn External Video back to All Frames, it continues to work. Go figure. Thanks again, WGby wgazecki - Café LA problems with Voice Over - 17 years agoI am having trouble getting the Voice Over tool to work. Audio is coming in via SPDIF to the Decklink card (FCP 5.1.4). I know the audio is getting to the card because I can Log and Capture through it just fine. But in the Voice Over window (set to Decklink, 48KHz), everything seems to work fine exscept there is NO AUDIO. All other functions, other than the audio, work properly.
