I am creating an effect where my subject appears to grow within the image, highlighting him from the rest of the people in the image. I've done this many times on an avid doubling my layers and using a magic mask, what is the best way to do this in FCP? I've been trying this same technique but I can't seem to find a masking tool with beziers so that I can create a clean image. Do I need a 3rd party plug-in? Or is a completely different technique?
Thanks, Evan
Use Apple Motion... or After Effects.
There may be a simple tutorial you can find on google for this or even over on the Motion Forum on LAFCPUG For instant answers to more than one hundred common FCP questions, check out the LAFCPUG FAQ Wiki here : [www.lafcpug.org]

garbage matte!
use that for a while, and you'll know why they call it that! i did a fair bit of roto work a while back using the garbage matte, and it's pretty clunky if you're used to beziers. isn't there a free bezier matte filter for fcp? why yes, Virginia! courtesy of Tom Howard: [homepage.mac.com] nick
