Definitely. Avi is just a container format. You need to know the codec. None will be a gigantic, and I'm not sure if it's an Avi codec in the first place.
Also, there may be a file limit on .avi exports from FCP. (not sure if it's still valid [

Also, if they have Quicktime Pro installed, Premiere will be able to access these quicktime codecs:
