My a2 audio source button seems to have disappeared for no apparent reason, even when I load perfectly good stereo clips into the browser. What happened to it, and how do I get it back?by davko - Café LA
Unable to capture in FCP6 - 17 years ago
I've just upgraded to FCP6 on Leopard, and suddenly find myself unable to log & capture. My source deck, a SONY ZR200, responds to initial shuttle commands, but preview window remains disabled and program essentially crashes (spinning ball) right afterwards. I switched to "Firewire NTSC Basic" in capture device settings, but that didn't help. I never had this problem with FCP 4by davko - Café LA

I'm running FCP 4.5 with Leopard... barely. The editing program works fine on start-up, then after a few dozen actions, feels like molasses. I've addressed all the lacpug suggestions for slow function, all to no avail. Is there inherent compatibility, here? Would springing for the upgrade to FCP6 solve my problem, or is it unrelated?by davko - Café LA

I like this innovative technique, but don't I still have the problem of converting a "protected" AAC (i.e. the iTune purchase) to an AIFF? That's the crux of my problem... Thanks.by davko - Café LA

May I utilize "protected AAC" iTunes files that I purchased as temp music? Assuming it's ethical, can FCP accomodate this format? If not, is there a way to convert them?by davko - Café LA
overlapping timecodes - 17 years ago
I recently missed a few seconds of head on a long capture. If I go back and grab just what I need, is there any drawback to having overlapping -- i.e. "doubled up" -- time codes on the scratch disc, if I ever reference back to source tapes? Is it advisable to recapture the entire clip in its entirety and lose the abbreviated one?by davko - Café LA

I suddenly find myself unable to duplicate a mono clip from A2 into A1 using the Cmd-C, Cmd-V functions. I set the playhead at the head of the clip, but when I try to paste, all it does is overwrite itself in A2 (while A1 remains empty).by davko - Café LA

When I attempt to use the overwrite shortcut, F10, the window panels separate instead. Has a setting been changed or has something been corrupted?by davko - Café LA

Is there a way to deselect edit points from the keyboard? Or since there is no separate "trim mode" per se, is this simply an unimportant function?by davko - Café LA

Another vexing problem I've had concerns the use of keyboard shortcuts F10 and F11 for overwrite and replace edits, respectively. Depressing these keys affects the visual relationship of windows on the interface (!) rather than to provide convenient alternatives for editing. Is this a problem with the keyboard, a setting issue, or a possible program quirk? (FCP HD Version 4.5)by davko - Café LA

My canvas has suddenly become a big white square. Scrubbing in the timeline changes the timecode information, but nothing's visible. When I hit play, the image appears in real time, but hit stop and it reverts back to white again. Anyone know what's going on?by davko - Café LA
