Re: How do I make a psd look smooth? - 14 years agoI changed it to 100% and voila: It looks much better. I'm using Pro Res and well, it's interlaced, it doesn't make diagonal lines look really good but that's normal, right?by janbecker - Café LA How do I make a psd look smooth? - 14 years agoI'm editing in SD and the psd document looks horrible the moment I put it in the timeline. I vaguely remember that there is a way... but that's all. So what do I have to do?by janbecker - Café LA Optimal settings for Beta SP output - 14 years agoHi there, I have 4 questions: 1) What would be the optimal timeline settings for output for Beta SP? CCIR 601 NTSC (40:27)? 2) Which Audio/Video settings should I use for the project? 3) I'm going to digitize a Betacam SP tape and use it's footage in the project, what format should I use? Uncompressed or CCIR? Or something else? 4) How should I setup Motion and LiveType? Thank yoby janbecker - Café LA Re: how can I make the psd layers visible? - 14 years agoWell, I got this DVD tutorial from Creative Cow and it includes a PSD file for a project. The guy in the tutorial double clicks it and it opens in two separate tracks. It doesn't do it in mine. Maybe he uses an older version of FCP? When I double click it opens in the viewer. Weird. Maybe that's why the tutorial was on sale. Janby janbecker - Café LA how can I make the psd layers visible? - 14 years agoI learned that you just double click it in the timeline and it would open its layers as tracks. Doesn't work. Thanks, Janby janbecker - Café LA "title safe" option in canvas is greyed out - 14 years agoHi there, I want to turn on the title safe option in the canvas and it's greyed out. Why? How can I turn it on? Thanks, Janby janbecker - Café LA Re: Betacam SP tapes transfers in L.A. - 14 years agoThanks guys, I think I found somebody. I'll save your suggestions for next time.by janbecker - Café LA Betacam SP tapes transfers in L.A. - 14 years agoHi everybody, my client just sent me these two huge Beta SP tapes with one hour of footage each to create a 30 second car dealership commercial. Since my workflow is completely tapeless I have no decks in my modest little studio so I need help to convert them into something I can use in FCP. Where can I turn to here in L.A.? I'm in Koreatown. The budget is pretty low, so it has to be a good dby janbecker - Café LA Re: Rihanna's Disturbia music video - 14 years agoWinging it will cost you more in the end. Not only money - also your reputation. I will test it out. Thank you Derek.by janbecker - Café LA Re: Rihanna's Disturbia music video - 14 years agoWow, lot's of replies! Thank you everybody for caring. Let me fill you in on my situation: I'm directing the video and I'm also going to DP it, at least partly since I'm going to have 1 or 2 camera operators. And I'm going to edit it as well. I want to keep all my options open so I won't do to much work in camera. But I also think some things would be smart to do.We'll be using HVXes with leby janbecker - Café LA Rihanna's Disturbia music video - 14 years agoHi guys, I'm trying to figure our what in this music video was created in camera, on set and in post. All these colors, bleeding lights and other effects. What is your impression? What are the things that jump at you and how were they created? I would be very thankful for any kind of input. Okay, yes, I would love to have the specs, too. For SD and HD if possible: jan@bluetreeproductions.us But were do I log in and upload the files? Seriously I have no clue and obviously my client thinks I know these thing.by janbecker - Café LA Delivery of commercial for DirecTV - 14 years agoHi everybody, this is the first time that I have to deliver a commercial to a TV station, and I want to deliver it properly and in the right format: First: I need a video slate and bars and tones at beginning of the sequence - how do I do this fast and easy? I have no clue. Second: For delivery formats they stated the following in an email: ACCEPTABLE FORMATS: ? That was easy.by janbecker - Café LA Quickest way from DVCProHD to DV - 14 years agoHi everybody, before I go though trial and error hell - let me ask you: I edited my Sequence in DVCProHD and want to convert it into regular DV. I want to crop the sides to fit it into 4:3, since I already shot it with enough extra space on the sides. So, what's the smartest and fastest way to do this? Thanksby janbecker - Café LA Re: Why are my clips locked in Color? - 14 years agoColorista is great, I agree. It's better and faster than the 3 way color corrector in FCP and it's worth the money. For regular narrative material it's mostly all you need. Color on the other side is still mindblowing - you can do so much. But I do hope they will make it more intuitive in the next version. I noticed that if I don't work with it for a while I always forget how things work and haby janbecker - Café LA Re: Why are my clips locked in Color? - 15 years agoOkay, first of all, the clips in Color HAVE to stay locked, otherwise you're going to have problems when you send them back to FCP. My problem was that I had tracks on top of the track I wanted to color correct. Those clips were created with Livetype and made the clips I wanted to work on not accessible. So I just deleted the tracks I didn't need to work on and suddenly the clips I needed toby janbecker - Café LA Re: Export to Soundtrack Pro all is messed up - 15 years agoI just noticed - Soundtrack reversed the speed change and just made the clips shorter but didn't speed up the audio. Why?by janbecker - Café LA Export to Soundtrack Pro all is messed up - 15 years agoI sped up my clips to 105% including the audio so I wanted to lower the pitch of the speakers in Soundtrack Pro. But after exporting the sequence to Soundtrack the clips all don't have the right length anymore, they are cut in different places than in FCP. It's totally different, although the voices still sound higher. How can I fix my pitch?by janbecker - Café LA Why are my clips locked in Color? - 15 years agoHi everybody, I just sent my sequence to color and all my clips are locked and I receive a warning message when I want to unlock them. That never happened before. What could be the cause?by janbecker - Café LA Re: time change for already edited clips - 15 years agoI guess you are right. I'll do it the proper way. Thanks for the input.by janbecker - Café LA time change for already edited clips - 15 years agoHi everybody, my client insisted to add a new clip in an already edited project. Now the whole project, a 30 second commercial, is 3 seconds too long. I already speeded up the inserted clip, but it's not effective enough. Now I would like to speed up all the other clips, but FCP doesn't allow me to do this. Here is the error message: "Speed cannot be changed for linked items with unequaby janbecker - Café LA |
