Re: PlugIn or style ideas for TV News style animation of pages, documents - 12 years agoI think you have a misunderstanding what a template is. A template is produced form a particular software like Motion or After Effects. There are tons of free After Effects templates out there that will do what you are asking. But you'll need After Effects to open it, and make the photo changes. I don't know of any templates for FCP 7 that do what you are asking. On the other hand, FCP X does. Orby Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: PlugIn or style ideas for TV News style animation of pages, documents - 12 years agoSo are you saying you want to show the newspaper articles, then zoom in to certain sentences so it is easy to read? You can do that in FCP 7 using keyframes.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: Another reason to get Adobe Production Premium CS 5.5 over FCPX: Final Cut Pro X vs Adobe Warp Stabilizer (After Effects) - 12 years agoNice test footage comparisons! I'm new to AE, but liking it more and more as I'm working with it.by Russ Blaise - Café LA - X Re: Choosing your next editing and finishing system - 12 years agoJon, I think that is a good idea!by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: Choosing your next editing and finishing system - 12 years agoI think if there were to be a Smoke lite version, it should be comparable to what ever other software you are going up against. So if Adobe's Production Premium is going for $1,699.00, then offer a Smoke version for around the same price that has pretty much the small comparable features as Adobe's Production Premium. Throw Avid MC6 into the mix and come up with something between the two. Then install FCP. That's what pretty much everybody has been doing.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: A brand new plugin from Graeme Nattress, Levels and Curves - 12 years agoAwesome! My background using Curves in Photoshop working in PrePress, makes this plugin a game changer. Well almost. I love Curves... $29.00 is a steal!by Russ Blaise - Café LA - X Re: End of FCP?? - 12 years agoSomebody has to take that bold step. Ask Neil Armstrong how that works. I guess maybe that's the difference between East coast people, and West coast people. Not that either one is right or wrong. Just different in the way they look at things. Right now I'm sitting closer to the West...by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: End of FCP?? - 12 years ago...and he grew up in Merrick, (Long Island) New York, where I grew up. Can't be too bad of a guyby Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: Mac Pros? Something happening? - 12 years agoI'm thinking that some people might go the way of the Hackintosh if Apple kills the Mac Pros. I've seen a few of my friend build them, and they work.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: FCP X dead for Professionals? - 12 years agoQuoteIt's like buying a new car without windows Better not go through the car washby Russ Blaise - Café LA - X Re: Hard drive crash - anyone have luck with Disk Warrior or other program?? - 12 years agoQuoteDiskWarrior doesn't "retrieve" any files, period. DiskWarrior was the only program (that I owned) that would let me see all the files, and let me copy them to another drive.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: FCP X dead for Professionals? - 12 years agoProduction Premium CS6 sounds promising. I might be glad that I just bought CS 5.5. I really like After Effects and Encore.by Russ Blaise - Café LA - X Re: Hard drive crash - anyone have luck with Disk Warrior or other program?? - 12 years agoI had one drive go on me and I was able to retrieve all my files off of it using DiskWarrior. Later two other drives went, and I was not able to retrieve any files. I lost everything. It all depends on what went wrong with the drive.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: End of FCP?? - 12 years agoFCP 7 runs on Lion on my end. "Persian Kitty". I think you might have something there. Where Apple seems to be heading, you''re not that far off.by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: Motion 5 - 12 years agoTake a look at the videos at http://www.applemotion.net That will give you a good idea how Motion 5 works. I wouldn't not say Motion 5 is dumbed-down from Motion 4. It's pretty much the same except you can't roundtrip anymore. There is about 4 other things they took away but not really a big deal. Motion 5 is made to build effects and titles for FCP X. You'll see that talked about in the videos oby Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: FC Pro x Problem HELLPPPP - 12 years agoHere is my workflow. If I shoot in HD, I edit in HD. Usually all the time in Pro Res. (I found if I convert the HD to SD, and then edit it, it looks like crap). After I'm done with my edit, I export to .mov and select, "Current Settings". Then I import the .mov file to DVD SP or Adobe Encore to build my DVD. I let DVD SP or Adobe Encore do the transcoding to SD. You could use Compressorby Russ Blaise - Café LA - X Re: FC Pro x Problem HELLPPPP - 12 years agoAre you going straight to a DVD from the "Share" menu of FCP X? If you are, I don't think that's the best way. Also let me ask, did you edit your footage in SD, or HD? Answer these questions and we'll go form there. We just need a bit more info on your workflow.by Russ Blaise - Café LA - X Re: FCP X dead for Professionals? - 12 years agoQuote...sorry...you like crashing all the time? I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Which is, even though I like FCP X and Motion 5 features, (No, I don't like the crashing), I moved to PPro, AE and Encore. I am looking forward to CS 6 and their "Secret Weapon". I did here back a few months ago that Adobe bought a Color Grading program that might be added to the Production Pby Russ Blaise - Café LA - X Re: FCP X dead for Professionals?,, FCP X cuts my editing time by 25% - 12 years agoI like FCP X and Motion 5, but they crash all the time. PPro, AE and Encore, well, they never crashed on me. I like not being interrupted while I work. Yeah, lets hope Apple fixes the stability issues.by Russ Blaise - Café LA - X Re: make video look like a painting - 12 years agoCheck out what Red Giant has to offer: http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products/all/toonit/by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: If you are considering buying CS 5.5 Production Premium. 30% off this week. Also new Adobe upgrade policy. - 12 years agoWe'll have to wait and see if you can skip the .5 version and not have to pay full price after that. They are saying you can go from CS5.0 to CS6.0 as an upgrade. I hope we can do an upgrade from CS6.0 to CS7.0by Russ Blaise - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: FCP7 log and capture files contain no video, only audio. - 12 years agoI only thing I can address is that it seems that you have to install the FCP Suite first before installing FCP X. It has something to do with how the FCP Suite is stored in it's own folder. This happens automatically when you install FCP X. They make us learn the hard way sometimes...by Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: FCPX playback flicker on MacPro===>Graphics card or Ram??? - 12 years agoSounds good! I'm hoping that we have a December Tucson FCP meeting next month. Maybe I'll run into you there.by Russ Blaise - Café LA - X Re: FCPX playback flicker on MacPro===>Graphics card or Ram??? - 12 years agoWhen you import or capture your footage, are you transcoding it? When the "Import Files" dialog box comes up, check the box for, "Create optimized media". That might make your footage play a lot smoother. What it does is transcodes your footage to ProRes.by Russ Blaise - Café LA - X Re: Non-glossy iMacs? - 12 years agoQuoteDo you think Apple still listens to serious users? Nah! Steve's gone and gone is the "computers that people can use" mantra. Apple is making enough selling toys. How do you know it wasn't Steve that implemented all these changes that turned Apple away from the "serious users", or professional? We'll have to wait and see if Apple moves back to some of it's professionalby Russ Blaise - Café LA Re: Favorite Filters & Transitions - 12 years agoYes you can. Here are some training videos from AppleMotion.net that will show you how.by Russ Blaise - Café LA - X Re: FCPX playback flicker on MacPro===>Graphics card or Ram??? - 12 years agoHi Doug, I too am in Tucson and a member of the Tucson Final Cut Users Group, and live in desert city. I use FCPX on my Mac Pro 1,1. But I do have 16GB of ram and the ATI 5770 graphic card with 1GB of VRAM. Could you tell us a bit information on what type of footage you are trying to push through FCPX, codec and all?by Russ Blaise - Café LA - X |
