Generally they dont just clean the heads they do an alignment too. YOU might try TV Masters in Holywood. I think they are cheaper. Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA

My only problems with Pro Tools is that it is SO expensive and absolutely no way does it need to be. Which is why many are just throwing up their hands and moving away. For low budget Indy filmmakers, PT just isnt a choice. Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA

Good question. Would make a good poll if we had that software. Dont dismiss what is right in front of you though. FCP's audio tools are quite good. A step up is Pro Tools LE, Bias Peak or Deck, Logic, MOTU's Digital Performer. All have steep learning curves although MOTU makes more sense to me than any of the others. I'm not an audio guy though. I used to take my VX1000 to TV Masters in Hollywood on Melrose. Daniel is the guy there. MUCH cheaper than sending to Sony. Dont know the phone number. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA

Thats a good idea but even more fun for the kids is to play with the filters and controls. Have them drop some of them onto the clips and see the effect. Then have them play with the controls. If they dont like what they see, control click on the clip and choose "remove filter" mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA

Use the combo updater and repair permissions before and after updating. Also run a disk check before you update. Do all that and all should be fine mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA

You can just turn Journaling off but it is best to move the media off the drive and reformat it. This is something everyone needs to do when purchasing a new drive. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA

There wouldnt be a playout setting in FCP, its in the deck. Just play out and it will record what you tell it to record. Never used the deck but thats my thinking mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA

Only way via FW (as far as I know) is to the Panasonic 1200A deck which will do 720P and 1080i both. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA
