Re: Live feed from camera into FCP - 13 years agoThank's Craig but that's a bit pricey for one projectby Göran - Café LA Live feed from camera into FCP - 13 years agoHi! I thought I post in this forum too. So this is my scenario: Day one, shooting a locked off outdoor, perspective scene. Day two, shooting a locked off studio, perspective scen. Problem: Need to match the angle and objects in the scene. To do that, i need to get a live feed from the camera and overlaying a still from the shot from the first day. Is that possible in FCP? I probably goinby Göran - Café LA Re: Audio out of sync when returning to FCP - 13 years agoI just posted the exact same problem in the FCP forum. I'm in PAL country and i get the sound to be slower. This has happened after upgrading to FCP 7 Edit: I should mention that I´m using the "send" command from Final cut, no export.by Göran - Soundtrack Pro Lost sync roundtriping FCP Soundtrack Pro - 13 years agoHi all. I´m having a delicate problem. I've just upgraded to FCP 7 and all of a sudden when I send an audiotrack to soundtrack, save it and go back to FCP the sync is lost. The audio is up to a second off at the end of my 3 minute film. I have trashed the prefs and set everything back to 25fps in soundtrack but that did'nt help. Right now I'm unable to use soundtrack as my audio maby Göran - Café LA Re: 16 TV lines? - 13 years agoThank´s Jeff! That´s exactly what I needed to hear! One thing that has been bugging me for some time now: When I shoot progressive, sometimes Final cut interpret the clips as upper fields. Why is that? If I want to make a dvd what is best, setting the timeline to "none" and in compressor set the fields to "none"? Or should I leave it "upper fields" and do the same in compressor? I guess since it´s shootby Göran - Café LA Re: HD to SD - 14 years agoThank´s . Actually I have a Kona3 card but since we almost never master to tape nowadays that would be an unecessery step. I´m looking for the best digital way.by Göran - Café LA HD to SD - 14 years agoI guess this question has been up before but I could not find any answers. What is the best way of converting HD to SD? I have ingested RED material in ProRes 422 HQ PAL 2048x1152 and going to edit it as usual and the final output is going to be in SD PAL. 720x576 FHA. It needs to be 16:9 Since it´s a follow up on a previous commercial. I have no experience of Color but am I right that it can export dpx? I checked the gluetools site but not much info on the tool.by Göran - Café LA RED workflow help! - 14 years agoHi. We´re shooting a commercial on RED for the first time. The finished edit is to be sent to a post house for 3d, grading and compositing. I´m trying to find out the workflow for this. I need to set up a 16:9 PAL sequence, the final dpx needs to be 1080p. In the RED support document it states that Color can´t work with 16:9 aspect ratio wich means that I can´t use it for dpx export.by Göran - Café LA Re: dpx questions - 14 years agoI think I really opened a can of worms here : ) Since it seems common for post house to work with dpx files There must be a reason for them to request it. My big question is how do I achieve this? Göranby Göran - Café LA Re: dpx questions - 14 years agoThank´s Jeff! Actually I´m trying to figure out how to get dpx out of Final cut regardless the format. All I know is that we are going to shoot it on HD and likely on RED. The post house have requested dpx log from us. I guess it is a similar workflow getting dpx from FCP? "Then one of a number of tools is used to take the Final Cut XML file and do a neg cut off the Red files, generating 2K DPX sequences with handles." What do you mean? Neg cut? We´re going to shoot a commercial and deliver it to a post production house so they can put some 3d stuff in it. I need to deliver dpx files. I have no experience of this what so ever. How do I do this? We probably are going to shoot it on RED. What´s the workflow on delivering dpx? Can someone please help me out here?by Göran - Café LA Re: HELP: LiveType all messed up - 15 years agoIs it graphics you´ve created yourself or is it the graphics that comes with livestype? If it´s your own, are you sure you haven´t moved anything from it´s original folders?by Göran - Café LA Re: HELP: LiveType all messed up - 15 years agoI know, livetype and fcp doesn´t allways seem to "talk" to eachother... But it seem strange that youré not able to edit your iprs. Tell me about your workflow.by Göran - Café LA Another fields/progressive issue - 15 years agoHi again! If I film dvcpro 50 25p and want to output to digibeta, what is the correct aproach, change all the clip properties to "none" and edit progressive or use the fcp interpretation of the footage to lower fields and edit in that mode? That´s one thing I don´t understand. Why does fcp interpret 25p shot on P2 as lower fields?by Göran - Café LA Re: Trouble getting progressive from fcp - 15 years agoHi and thank´s! I´m on FCP6 and wen I dropped the on the new timeline clip I entered YES to adjust the timeline to animation and when I looked at the settings everything is ok, animation codec and none on the interlace. Here´s the situation: Done an animation from still images in After Effects. Rendered with animation codec progressive. Imported in FCP and dropped it on a new sequense and the settings says animation and field order none. But in the item properties for the clip it says lower fields. Why is that? That´s exactly what I´m trying to find out, if final cut recompresses my original dv timeline again. The same thing goes for after effects. If I bring in a dv clip and choose the render settings to dv in the render que, will it compress it again? But I guess that question belongs in another forum. What happens if i export a quicktime with dv codec and export it to an avi with dv codec? Does it compress the file with the dv codec again? What is the best way to do this? Why does it record intelaced?by Göran - Café LA shooting 25p gets interlaced - 15 years agoHi all. There is one thing I wonder about. When I shoot dvcpro 50 25p and bring those clips in fcp, it gets interpreted as lower fields. The same thing if I import a clip into After Effects. I thought shooting 25p was progressive and not interlaced. Why is that? How should I make my workflow for progressive output in fcp? Thank´s! Göranby Göran - Café LA Re: DVC Pro HD Pal mixed with DV Pal anamorphic ? - 15 years agoHey! Thank´s! Of course I forgot to check the anamorphic box in the timeline settings, actually that´s the first time i missed that. Well I have to say that I´ve learnt a very good lesson! Thank you guys, you´re the best! Göranby Göran - Café LA Re: DVC Pro HD Pal mixed with DV Pal anamorphic ? - 15 years agoI´ve got it! I tried to do it the way you described and that works like a charm. But when I drop the DV Pal anamorphic clip on that time line, those clips gets the wrong aspect instead. So all I had to do was to find out how fcp converted the DVC Pro HD file when droped on a DV Pal anamorphic timeline. When I checked the scale and aspect of that clip i was: 53,33% scale and 6,67 aspect. Nby Göran - Café LA |
