Compressor is very glitchy for some reason, when i try to add settings to all the qts (200+ qts), it will only add settings to a few of them... i tried adding settings one by one but when i got export, it'll still transcode a few of them and crash...so wierd...i've trashed prefs, render ques, restart, etc. thankby rjoe11 - Café LA Recommedations for Batch Resizing of quicktime videos - 13 years agoI've got a project with 3K and 2K proRes qts.....i'm looking for a simple way to batch resize them all into a smaller resolution size. My editor is working on a macbook pro, thus working with 3K/2K footage is very very slow.....A sequence with edits has already been made too so we would like to keep the names of the 3K/2K qts the same so that would can easily re-connect after the resizing of theby rjoe11 - Café LA Re: FCP log and transfer for P2 card footage, audio issues after transfer. - 13 years agothat fixed it! thank's a lot.....i can't believe that's what was causing it....i've never touch that specific setting before. I'm log and transferring P2 card (p2 card slot on laptop) footage shot on the HVX into FCP 7, once it's fully transfered the video shows up fine, but the audio shows up for 7 seconds then is gone for the rest of the clip. We both have identical harddrives with the same source material and we just email FCP project files back and forth which has been working great. But i was wondering what the best or proper workflow for doing work when the FCP timeline is sent to "Color" program for coloring then sent back to FCP timeline. The FCPby rjoe11 - Color Re: Timeline setting - ProRes or DVCPRO HD? which is better? - 15 years agothanks everyone for the feedback.....it does suck having to work with a couple different formats like this but that's what i have been given so i'll have to make it workable. Thanks Jeff for the breakdown of things...yeah the picture quality will be a lot different but i think the best option will to work downwards to the DVCPRO HD setting....my final output will just be 1080 and not 2K.by rjoe11 - Café LA Re: Timeline setting - ProRes or DVCPRO HD? which is better? - 15 years agothanks for the input guys. the formats i have are: ProRes 422 hq 2048 x 1152 23.98 fps DVCPRO HD 1080p30 1280 x 1080 29.97 ....i've got pretty equal amounts of footage of the 2 formats.by rjoe11 - Café LA Timeline setting - ProRes or DVCPRO HD? which is better? - 15 years agowhat settings should I use for my timeline when i've got ProRes 422 HQ and DVCPRO HD footage to edit with? is it better to go with a ProRes timeline setting and render out the DVCPRO HD footage or vice versa? Not sure which route would produce the best quality having to work with the two different formats. Suggestions? thx.by rjoe11 - Café LA Re: workflow with multiple formats - prores 422 & dvcpro hd - 15 years agothanks for the input.......quick follow-up question, so is it always best to work on a "prores 422 hq" timeline than the "DVCPRO HD" timeline? is prores better quality in the end?by rjoe11 - Café LA workflow with multiple formats - prores 422 & dvcpro hd - 15 years agoi'm working on a project that has multiple video formats. I've got footage that are Apple Prores 422(HQ), some are DVCPRO HD 1080p30 and some DVCPRO HD 720p60....and a mix frame rates of 23.98 and 29.97. What settings should my timeline be set to? (frame size, compressor, frame rate, pixel aspect ration, etc.) My final output will be for broadcast HD. Just trying to figure a proper/efficient workflow. Any tips?by rjoe11 - Café LA workflow for final cut pro project to after effects PC - 15 years agoWhat's the most efficient way to work with FCP edits to After Effects on PC? I've exporting out high res quicktimes (animation codec) that seem to work ok, but they are huge files (4 mins is about 25gb). any thoughts on a better workflow between the 2 platforms? other than getting the PC people to work AE on a MAC. I'm curious on what way would be the best to export a SD DVD My timeline was a 720p60 23.98 project with various filters and color corrections on all clips. I'm exporting out on a powerbook G4 1.67ghz, 2gb ram, i know this is definitely not an optimal machine to be working on but that's what i've had for the last few years and it's been ok. I've been outputting my timeline in FCP for DVDs, using export using 'compressor', then go the 60min high quality widescreen encode option. This process takes about 12+ hours to export a 10min video with moderate effects. Process #2. Once i've put into DVD Studio, and playback the footage there, everything looks normal.
