We have a Power Mac G5 with 2 LCd displays. It does have an AGP graphics card, there is no deck connected to the computer (though there used to be). When I go to choose my video playback options - either in the VIEW menu, or the A/V devices tab of the Audio Video seby juliag23 - Café LA 24p digitized and out of sync - help! - 17 years agohi there - just shot some footage with an A camera and B camera - both DVX100 24p. We were both supposed to be set on regular 24p not 24pA. I successfully digitized my tape coming in to FCP at 29.97 audio at 48K 16bit. But when i digitized the other camera's footage it came in completely out of sync. Seems to be about 10 frames off. Could the other camera have had different settings by mistakeby juliag23 - Café LA Re: HELP - major issues with output!!!! - 18 years agoBig question I have is, why are you editing on at 23.98 timeline if you are outputting 29.97? it is a feature film shot in HDCam and will go back to 35mm. That's why we're cutting at 23.98. And the timecode won't line up with what? the timeline timecode? exactly - the TC burn won't lock to the Timeline TC. Outputting to DVCam because that is the deck we have so when people need outputs (aby juliag23 - Café LA HELP - major issues with output!!!! - 18 years agohi there- I'm having two problems... I am using a JVC BR-DV3000 deck with Firewire connection. My sequence is 23.98. I needed to make a 29.97 NDF output with TC on the address track and: 1. The TC will not line up. I've tried to change the playback offset and it's impossible to get it to line up. I finally had to set it to -00:00:14 to get it near correct and still it was one frame off. ???? 2by juliag23 - Café LA playback offset? - 18 years agohey there- does anyone happen to know the playback offset for the JVD BR-DV3000 deck? Juliaby juliag23 - Café LA FCP HD 23.98 to protools 29.97???? - 18 years agohi there - i'm working on a film that we've been cutting in 23.98. Our sound engineer now needs quicktime movies from me with a 29.97NDF time code burn. I assume this means I need to somehow get him a 29.97 Quicktime, but when I try to export my reels with 29.97 Quicktime settings they come out with black frmaes interspersed and they cut off well before the end. I'm not sure how to deliver to tby juliag23 - Café LA Re: Also...quickly - 18 years agoAnn- Your reply to my post was one of the most bizarre responses that I've gotten from this forum. I thought we were supposed to give each other technical advice not psychological guidance. As it happens my employer and I have very good lines of communication, however, she is new to FCP so this is not an area in which she can share her knowledge. Juliaby juliag23 - Café LA Also...quickly - 18 years agoIf I change the REEL name in the browser for my clips am I going to have to reconnect the clips or will it just change the info on the Quicktime and that's that?by juliag23 - Café LA very perplexing rendering issue - 18 years agoI am assisting on a feature. The editor is working on a G5 2GHz dual processor - 4GB of memory FCP 5.0.2 etc. While i am working on an imac G5 with 2GHz processor and 2GB of memory. I am working in version 5.0.2 on an imacG5. Both when i try to save and when it tries to autosave i am getting an error message that reads " File Error: Unknown file" and it will not let me save. i don't want to lose all my work - what should i do? what does this error message mean? Juliaby juliag23 - Café LA strange aspect ratio situation -help! - 18 years agoi am working on a film that i've been digitizing standard def - 4:3 29.97 etc... most of the footage is 16x9, but som of it is 4x3. I digitized some new 4x3 stuff and for some reason the clips are coming up in the viewer, canvas etc. with the sides (not top and bottom) matted - thus making the image "skinnier". Does anyone have any thoughts on why this might be happening all of the suddby juliag23 - Café LA major 'Multiclip' function issue!!!! - 18 years agoSo I'm using the latest version of FCP and working with an A and B camera. I have multiclips for almost all my media. We've been having 2 very perplexing problems: 1. When we toggle back and forth in the viewer window between the A and B camera angles the clip name (at the top of the window) does not change back and forth from A to B it just stays on A the whole time - even when we have the B aby juliag23 - Café LA printing the browser window - 18 years agohey there - is there a way for me to print out the actual image of the browser window with whatever sequences/bins i have in there?by juliag23 - Café LA interlacing artifacts - 18 years agohi there - i read some of the previous threads relating to this problem, but wasn't really able to find a solution. i am working with footage filmed in HD on a high end Sony HDCam. the footage was downconverted to dvcam and i am now doing a reverse telecine with cinema tools to get back to 23.98 for cutting. Over all this has worked perfectly, but now I have 7 clips that no matter what I do Iby juliag23 - Café LA multiclip toggle problem - 18 years agohi there - i am working in FCP 5.0.2 using the multiclip function. I'm having this strange problem which is that when i toggle between the a clip and b clip in the viewer or timeline the name ("a" or "b" doesn't change when the clip switches. It does change when i click on the clips in the browser though. Any thoughts? The footage was downconverted to dvcam and the i did a reverse telecine in cinema tools. Overall everything works great, but now i'm noticing that there are clips here and there that don't look very good. My media is being saved to an external firewire drive. Then at the end of each day i copy those files over to another drive that the editor is using so that we both have the same media at the same time. For some reason though. We are using FCP 5 - fully loaded G5, all software will be the latest version. I worked on a film last year that was shot with the panasonic Vericam and then down converted to DVCam so i went through the process of digitizing it and having the program do the 2:3:3:2 pulldown - then cutting 23.98.
