Guess I'm ****** then from the sounds of it.by seeker - Café LA av1 files - 14 years agoCan you reconstruct av1 files? Lost one and while the clip plays in preview it won't load into FCP. How did I lose it? Corrupted?by seeker - Café LA Re: Opening a new HD - 14 years agoOK, I just renamed it "Rita". Whatever. It's just a hard drive guys! It doesn't care. Thanks for the advice and guidance. Works fine now.by seeker - Café LA Opening a new HD - 14 years agoAfter I installed a new HD and transferred all of my files to it from "HDV" (hard drive, video), an external HD which is crashing (and is now ejected) and contains some important FCP files, from FCP I get the message: "Missing Disks", "To preserve the integrity...etc.", and "'#HDV/' missing". It gives me three options: Reset Scratch Disks, Check again, Qby seeker - Café LA Re: Bringing a DVD into FCP 5 - 14 years agoNo, Derek, I was referring to FCP. As you noted, the video comes over fine, just no audio and I am sure there is a good reason for it, I just don't know it. I assume it is the file form. Streamclip: I am still hacking around with and not having much luck. Probably didn't check the box.by seeker - Café LA Re: Bringing a DVD into FCP 5 - 14 years agoOK Got it. "Streamclip" But, I get the video no problem, just that the audio won't follow. What's happening?by seeker - Café LA Re: Bringing a DVD into FCP 5 - 14 years agoI didn't get anything looking for "extracting video from DVD to FCP". Then told me I must be sysops. What happened?by seeker - Café LA Bringing a DVD into FCP 5 - 14 years agoI have saved a old project (FCP3 or 4) onto DVD via iDVD. Now I want to work on it again. Update it and add more stuff. How do I bring it back into FCP 5 with audio et al.? I can get the video in OK, but the audio will not transfer.by seeker - Café LA Re: Sharing work for re-edit out of office - 15 years agoAgain, thanks all. Re: Mark Raudonis et al. Your point is well taken and I agree. Like many, I am the night staff...and the day staff...and the janitor. And this means that like many, I have to do it all. And often quicker than I wanted to do it. It's just that what may seem like a short cut at the time isn't and you know it won't be, usually, but other things do get in the way. This actuaby seeker - Café LA Re: Sharing work for re-edit out of office - 15 years agoGreat! Thanks for the tutorials. Will give them a shot. I'd promise I'l be better next time but you won't believe it nor will I. I just get too involved in what I do.by seeker - Café LA Sharing work for re-edit out of office - 15 years agoI have completed a 1 hour doc. project in FCP5 and want to send it to another editor for polishing. But I am a very disorganized slob and my files of film clips and photos are scattered over as many as five HDs. What is the way to consolidate all this original information for copying? And how can I forward my timeline and copies of my files to someone else in another state? Buy a new HD, dumpby seeker - Café LA Copy DVD - 15 years agoHow do I download and burn a copy of a DVD that I made a year ago (it's mine, honest!). I'll betcha this has been a regular question but I can't find it in FAQ. One more time pleeze.by seeker - Café LA Phase analysis - 16 years agoPhase issues are mentioned on page 178 of the Soundtrack Pro help manual. From a practical point of view, do I really need to check for these when I run my audio thru STP. They take a huge amount of time to process on my machine when I run my "Analysis". Will skipping really matter? Upgrading my video card won't have any effect on the performance of this analysis will it? Don't sby seeker - Soundtrack Pro Re: File options - 16 years agoThanks. Just to clarify: When I go to Export and go into the required "Quicktime Conversion" I am compressing am I not? So there is really no way to avoid some compression of a still from FCP. Also, I can't see much change when I use the de-interlace filter-on my computer monitor. Would I see more if I had an NTSC monitor? I try to use timeline images where there is not much motionby seeker - Café LA File options - 16 years agoWhat is your advice? When saving a still in FCP5 after exporting and going into Options, which is the best format to save to send the image into Photoshop, Photoshop or .psd or .Tiff? Are .psd and Photoshop the same? (Actually, you don't get the .psd option unless you go into Preview where it is an additional choice to Photoshop.)by seeker - Café LA Re: Print to Video-Revisited - 16 years agoThanks Scott. I've checked the timeline and looked for any mysterious connection to earlier versions of the project. I've also rendered by key and by "click". I cannot find any evidence of unrendered anything. Now, to be honest, the reason that I am backing up and "archiving to tape" is that my HDs are full-ish and I am getting antsy but I don't think that is the probleby seeker - Café LA Re: Print to Video-Revisited - 16 years agoNaw. Can't shake a mysterious beep (like unrendered Audio) but everything else working fine. One last question. Why do you prefer "Edit to Tape" over "Print to Video"? "PTV" worked fine, eventually. Just curious. And thanks for the help.by seeker - Café LA Re: Print to Video-Revisited - 16 years agoActually, I think this thing swallowed air or something because it got over it on its own. What I did was quit and relaunch, etc. and that seemed to cure it. I think it will work this time. It's looking and acting much happier. I'm writing video now after finding a mysterious beep that is not in my timeline but I hope I lost by..well, it was involved but I think it worked. Five more minutesby seeker - Café LA Re: Print to Video-Revisited - 16 years agoAwlright Derek!! Seem to be getting closer. A little intimidated when it tells me it's going to take 7 DAYS to process the Audio, but I have faith. It's got a sense of humor, right? Just kidding me? Right? Video wrote in seconds, Audio...I don't know.by seeker - Café LA Print to Video-Revisited - 16 years agoThis just gets more interesting! By going to Final Cut Pro>Audio/Video Settings and then clicking on Devices tab and changing video to Digital Camera Desktop Preview-Main and Audio to Built-in audio and then checking Different Output for Edit to Tape/Print to Video (but first I restart my computer and restart FCP) I can "print to video" to my camera. OK. It starts "prep videoby seeker - Café LA Re: print to video - 16 years agoOK I have video set at Apple Firewire NTSC (720x480). "Audio follows video" checked along with "Firewire DV" checked but not an option (greyed out). This where I should be? Post Edited (08-17-06 08:13)by seeker - Café LA Re: print to video - 16 years agoYes. I am sure. Also getting "dropped frames". Just keeps getting better! Is there an external audio switch I should be setting?by seeker - Café LA Re: print to video - 16 years agoI got it to work for the video. Now I get no audio. Some other fix for that?by seeker - Café LA Re: print to video - 16 years agoNo, just two. Stereo. The default. Post Edited (08-16-06 09:11)by seeker - Café LA print to video - 16 years agoIn FCP5 I am using my old Canon XL1 as my tape deck. I want to "print to video" to archive my project and in earlier FCP versions it was just a simple turn on the device, load the tape, turn the device to "VCR" and click to begin. Now I get the message: "The selected audio and video devices may not match. -Apple firewire NTSC (720x480) -Default. Please verify that audby seeker - Café LA Re: Bring DVD into FCP? - 16 years agoYou are right. I'll use the tape. Of course-about the compression! Forgot that.by seeker - Café LA Bring DVD into FCP? - 16 years agoCan I bring one of my old DVD burns into my FCP5 and work on it again? Say, add new VO, music and some updated still/video clips to make it really, really good? I know I can copy and burn a copy of my old DVD, and have done, getting a .cdr file (what is that?) following steps in disk utility, but I don't seem to be able to do anything else with it. Seems a waste now that I got that far! (OS Xby seeker - Café LA Re: Film Festival Screening Advice - 16 years agoFrom the experience I've had, early submission means you are more likely to be reviewed and selected because everyone is fresh to the job and looking to fill the time slots available. Late submissions are particularly brutal! Rough cuts will be bumped out. Almost guaranteed. Always submit your best, finished effort. With thousands coming in, juries are not going to waste time on rough versby seeker - Café LA Film Festival Screening Advice - 16 years agoI was asked to help review the last minute entries to the local film festival. We had 1300 to screen over a few nights which did not include those already screened for the normal submission process. I think there were something over 4000 submissions, total, which gives you some appreciation for the vast number of videos and films that festivals have to review.
