I am grateful to any help from anyone. Am working on a Powerbook G4, OS 10.4.9, FCP 4.5HD, DV NTSC project. I put in scrolling text credits at the end of the film over black slug. THe credits jitter like crazy as they scroll up the screen. Also when I output to a quicktime with no coby Robert - Café LA How convert .mov to .flv?? I have edited a trailer on FCP HD 4.5 which I need to convert to a .flv (320x240pixels) for my website. My compressor does not work. Is there some other way to make a .flv file??? I think I just figured it out. In the menu for Sequence->Settings>General> Anamorphic 16:9 needs to be checked. Then it works without rendering!!!! What a relief and a timesaver!! Thanks! I cannot find "DV PAL anamorphic" in the menus!!???????? There is only a "DV PAL" option! Thank you! I shot in miniDV PAL on a Sony Z1 with the camera set to 16:9. Then I captured the footage and it just came in as 16:9 without my having adjusted anything on FCP HD 4.5. Now I have started editing. When I place a clip on the timeline it has to be rendered!!! I was looking at the Nattress website. Do you mean the Big Tool Box which has many filters including noise reduction? Without wanting to sound cheap, there is no way to just buy the noise reduction filter alone without having to get the whole package is there??? Thanks a lot! Wow thanks so much for your help! Scott I got it to work using your instructions - it was opening toast by default. And just by throwing the filter on the clip it already looks much better without my having fiddled with the settings yet, which I now have to learn. So great. I have been trying to do the download and I get the .bin file. But then it tells me to extract the plug in from the .bin file. So I shot a bunch of interviews INDOORS and the viewfinder of the camera (not mine), Sony Z1, deceived me and I should have brought a film light but none of that can be changed now. I am shooting miniDV ntsc on a canon xl-1 in 4:3 format. Q: Is it right to have the timeline set to ntsc DV (3:2)?? I followed the procedure and I hate to say it, but the image looks mushy and out of focus again. It seems to come from changing the center position of the image ( motion->basic motion->center). I shot a miniDV documentary in 4:3 format on a canon xl-1 (ntsc) with the intention of later laying a 16:9 mask over the image in FCP. I have managed to do this with the video filter->matte->widescreen. It works well until I move the image up or down using "Offset", at which point the image becomes less sharp. Unfortunately I do have Quicktime version 7.0.4! So now I have no way to export MPEG2 out of FCP HD4.5????! Is there any solution?? ( I only saw a way to export MPEG4 but not MPEG2. Sorry but I can not find the MPEG2 export function you are mentioning. All I can find is File >Export >Using Quicktime conversion >MPEG4 and other formats but not mpeg2. (I need the MPEG2 to make a DVD in DVD Studio Pro3). How do I export the MPEG2 using FCP 4.5??? I cannot activate Compressor from the Applications folder - I double click and then NOTHING happens. I also dragged the Compressor Icon to the dock.
