Probably 20 to 30 shots, probably more. Is it better to just prep stills in PS for size and pixel shape and leave all color correcting to FCP? I'm figuring that with stills in timeline, I would have quicker reference from one shot to another for any work needed. or do a rough leby camshaft - Café LA Re: audio not there when reopening project - 17 years agoJohn, I played around with this problem, and although I don't know why it happens, there is a work-around. Mark Bremmer gets all the credit for this. He says some processes do not save well. Before quitting STP, flatten all actions in waveform. The affected file in waveform and corresponding clip in multi-track came back fine when re-opening. Mark also mentioned making a duplicate oby camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: audio not there when reopening project - 17 years agoThanks, John There was only two tracks of audio exported to STP, six short clips. I was taking some horribly recorded audio (interview style SOTs) to play with after doing a tutorial. I'm aware that after sending to Multi-track Project, the mix has to be exported/imported for FCP. The problem is with STP, or.......a corrupted clip. Someone did mention from another site, that sometimes theby camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: Soundtrack Pro FEATURE REQUESTS: Post them HERE - 17 years agoSome accurate VU meters, reading db's would be excellent. Since we are dealing with strictly audio, something other than small reference meters going in percentages is necessary. Currently the only way to have the option of db's is using the waveform. If FCP can have software scopes for color correcting, the audio program needs good metering, "metering" is that even a word?by camshaft - Soundtrack Pro audio not there when reopening project - 17 years agoMy system is a Mac G5 dual, 2 gigs ram, with Final Cut Studio, STP v1.1, audio is firewire out following video through a Datavideo Dac 10 converter, playing through audio monitors with apple-F12 to bypass computer speakers. I have exported FCP>STP multi-track project, open up one clip (non-destructive) in editor (waveform) to replace with ambient sound. All is good here. I'm thinking you'll have to do some copying/pasting from the version 1 multi-track project into the version 2 project, which you can do, it will lay all the clips into new tracks for you. Highlighting clips will allow you to move them around as a group, even into different tracks.by camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: Selective processing of subclips - 17 years agoCorrect, if you are in Multi-track mode and then open a clip in waveform, and chose non-destructive, it creates a reference file only, the original audio file is unaffected. When going back to FCP just drop the aiff file onto a new track, and mute the originals, or create a duplicate timeline just for the sweetened audio.by camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: Firewire RAID vs. eSATA non-RAID - 17 years agoHey, Shane, Sorry for the minor hi-jacking, but, how can we find out how our computer/HD set-ups are reading/writing? Is it a terminal function? Thanksby camshaft - Café LA Re: Unable to form shortened clip from main root clip - 17 years agoCaesar, When you open in editor from multi-track project the clip show the in/outs by two markers above the waveform......when doing the work, drag your cursor along the waveform to highlight the area you wish to do the process. Whatever you do to the waveform at this point will show up in the actions palette to the left of the waveform, much like a layers tab. Hope this helps.by camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: Unable to form shortened clip from main root clip - 17 years agoThe way to just work on the edited clip is: send to>multi-track project, then in STP double click the clip to open in editor, which will then open in the waveform. From there you can do the repair work. Once you're done with the mix, export, and drop into FCP timeline.by camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: Best Soundtrack Tutorial - 17 years agovtc.com, Mark Bremmer has put out a tutorial on either CD ($99) or on-line ($30 per month). It's long, but in depth.by camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: FCP won't let me choose Audio file project - 17 years agoStereo should come over as two stereo tracks if you are sending to audio file project. It will show up as one clip in mutlti-track project, but it is in stereo. If you are finishing up the project, it might be best (IMHO) to send to multitrack project. From there you can go to waveform if you need and it will reflect in the project.by camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: Selective processing of subclips - 17 years agoJames, When you send a clip from FCP to STP audio file project, it will open the entire file. You can do whatever process, or add filter from there, but you will then have to re-edit into your FCP sequence. I think the best way is to open in Multi-track Project from FCP, and then open add whatever filters, EQ's, etc. from there.by camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: Selective processing of subclips - 17 years agoPhil, While you are in multi-track project, double click the clip which will open a window with two choices, destructive or non-destructive, what to call it, and where to save it. Non-destructive is the way to go and will reference the original file but not alter it, and you can always go back and tweak things again. Once you hit save, the waveform will open with the markers showing the clip iby camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: Can I send FCP > STP Project and keep levels and fades? - 17 years agoTo preface this, I am not an expert on this, I just finished a loooooong but very in depth tutorial because I wanted to know how the heck this thing works. I think the logic is to do a rough mix in FCP and bring it in to STP for a final mix. Crossfades show as crossfades, level changes do come over, any audio keyframing will show in the envelope window, but no, fades to/from silence do notby camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: Soundtrk on the mary-go-round with fcp - 17 years agoYou can set the timeline to either frame based or beat based. There are two buttons below the project window tab to right of the project key and project sample rate buttons. << i can not get the play head to stop on an extact point in which i want the sound to fire.>> You might have snapping on, in which case it will snap to the nearest beat. You need to import as Multi-track Project to get into the project for adding music. Importing as file will open the waveform for adjusting/correcting that one audio file, not for mixing/composing. The workflow would be open a new project, use the STP browser to find your video, and drag it into either the video window (above the browser) or drag it onto the timby camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: STP monitoring through firewire? - 17 years agoas a response to myself and anyone who this applies to.......the above does NOT work when using audio only, it will not play through.......the workaround: just grab any video clip and drag it into the video viewer, delete the accompanying audio track, and the audio project comes through the audio monitors, not the computer speakers.... along with your latest camera testing of the dog chasing a bby camshaft - Soundtrack Pro Re: STP monitoring through firewire? - 17 years agowell, I'm answering my own question.....through Applecare docs using Soundtrack Pro with AJA IO device, which I don't have, I use a DataVideo Dac-10, but I digress, it mentions the ole command-F12 to preview video, which takes audio along with it, and voila, monitoring audio through my edit speakers instead of the sound sticks, nice.by camshaft - Soundtrack Pro STP monitoring through firewire? - 17 years agocannot seem to find the answer......is there a way to monitor audio through firewire, or is this a case of biting the bullet and getting a breakout box?.....currently things play through my wonderful sound sticks, but, I know hearing through the Yamaha flat response boxes (when I use FCP) is the ideal thing.....my workaround is to get it nice in STP, then hear it in FCP, tweak as necessary. Byby camshaft - Soundtrack Pro QT upgrade - 17 years agoSoftware Update pulled up a QuickTime update with the warning about QT Pro users. Do I need to worry about blowing anything out in FCP when updating? Is the warning for stand alone QuickTime? Sorry, I'm not communicating well today. I know there is a more concise way to ask this.
