Any clips that have filters/speed/motion tab changes on them get rendered and the media embedded inside the exported movie. Only "raw" unchanged clips are referenced to the original media.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: export without render? good idead or bad? - 16 years agoI've also seen the unrendered screen in a Flip4Mac wmv export, never with any other types of export so it does seem like a bug.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Created photoshop doc for FCP at 960x720 but its being stretched in FCP - 16 years agoYou're doing the right thing. 1280x720 is the way to go.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Created photoshop doc for FCP at 960x720 but its being stretched in FCP - 16 years ago960x720 is one of the reserved sizes for DVCPROHD, so when FCP imports the file it assumes that it is 16:9 HD, hence the stretching. What puzzles me though is you seem to be working 4:3 at that size in After Effects...by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: TARGA CINE YUV - 16 years agoAFAIK if you download and install the Blackmagic uncompressed codecs, you'll be able to open Cinewave codec files.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Subtitles with lower thirds - 16 years agoNick Meyers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Andreas Keil of Spherico FIlm Tools makes the only > "Bottom Justified" FCP text generator, but it > doesn't have border or "box" controls No offence to Andreas who does fantastic work but if our DH_Subtitle generator had feelings, it would be deeply hurt. :-) It's been hard at workby digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Very weird aspect ratio stuff - 16 years agoIgnore the setting to capture to separate files. It's historical, from the days when hard disks cost the earth and it made sense to put the video on the fast (expensive) drive and audio on the slow (cheap) drive. Now most storage is fast AND cheap :-)by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Clarifications on clustering - 16 years agoFirst thing to try is connecting the computers with an ethernet cable. Using wi-fi is not going to give you the best performance here.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Export still frame from 16:9 timeline changes aspect ratio - 16 years agoAFAIK this got changed in 6.0.2 so still exports now get exported at the correct aspect ratio.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Having to render audio - 16 years agoIf the movie files have a .dv extension then you'll get the beeps. The only way around it is to convert them to a regular QT before importing into FCP.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Bad Looking Chroma Key - 16 years agoI would strongly second the DVMatteBlast suggestion from Benjamin. Much better results for HDV and DV keying than the built-in keyers.by digitalheaven - Motion Re: Field Rendering - 16 years agoIf you mean the Field Rendering option in the View menu, then it depends on which export preset you use. Choosing "Movie - current project and canvas settings" will use the current Field Rendering option but other presets will override it.by digitalheaven - Motion Re: xml export questions - 16 years agoAFAIK the solution for pre-FCP6 was to buy Automatic Duck's Pro Export FCP plug-in that supports audio levels.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: xml export questions - 16 years agoI can't comment on EDL Convert but by far the easiest solution is to upgrade to FCP6 which now has support for audio levels in OMF exports.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Exporting 4 Audio tracks - 16 years agoQuickTime Player doesn't show the number of tracks on the meters. You will need to check another way: Open the file into QuickTime Player and choose Window > Show Movie Properties. How many sound tracks are listed? Click on a sound track and select the Audio Settings tab. How many channels are listed?by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Finding that shortcut key... - 16 years agoIf you "show audio controls" which is the bottom left button in the timeline window then you can solo or mute tracks. Also the Audio Mixer window will allow you to solo or mute tracks and it works on the Viewer as well.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Importing Motion filters or Primatte RT into Final Cut Pro 6 - 16 years agoThe Primatte RT keyer can't be used in FCP, it's an exclusive version for Motion, built into the app. You could just do the keying in Motion then disable the background layer and back in FCP composite the keyed layer over a live background clip.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: audio pan options - 16 years agoSure, select the clips and then set the panning under the Modify > Audio menu.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: applying effects to multiple clips in browser - 16 years agoHere's another way: - Add slug to the top track (remember you can make generators longer than 2 mins by typing into the Viewer's duration field before editing it into the sequence) - Add Video Filters > Matte > Mask Shape - Make the horizontal scale more than 100 - Change the vertical scale to whatever you like - Check the Invert option - Voila! An adjustable letterbox mask on a sinby digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Broadcast Audio levels for television. - 16 years agoBut it depends what he means by -10dB. It's possible that audio peaking at PPM6 will go above -10dB on a digital meter and it would be perfectly legal for UK broadcast.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Broadcast Audio levels for television. - 16 years agoPhil, I think you're mixing up PPM values with dBs. PPM4 is -18dB, PPM5 is -14dB and PPM6 is -10dB. Either way, the bottom line is that commercial levels should be quite a bit lower than the peak level on regular programmes because the audio is always heavily compressed. I know that a few years ago the BBC ruled that promos would peak at PPM5 precisely because viewers complained about the relaby digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Final Cut Studio updates out - 16 years agoDon't worry Jude, they must have read your thoughts and took that feature out again :-) Unfortunately the Scroll to Playhead isn't what we were all hoping for. It's a one off command that literally scrolls the timeline so the playhead is in the centre of the window. Doesn't work during playback.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: OT: Avid won't be at NAB in 2008 - 16 years agoThey haven't had a stand at IBC for the past two years so it's not a complete surprise but whichever way they spin it, the announcement sends out the wrong signals. It says to me "we're shifting to a policy of aiming to keep existing (high-end/broadcast) customers rather than trying to attract new ones because know we can't compete against the low/mid range users who have been flocking in drby digitalheaven - Café LA Re: "Effect failed to render" messages - 16 years agoIt's not :-) The error message appears when your graphics card isn't powerful enough to render the effect, which is why you're only seeing it on some FxPlugs and not others. I only know this because it was mentioned in the recertification videos for trainers, I haven't seen it anywhere else.by digitalheaven - The Bug Report Re: "Effect failed to render" messages - 16 years agoThis error message appears when your graphics card isn't powerful enough to render the effect, which is why you're only seeing it on some FxPlugs and not others.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: What's the trick to keeping "playhead sync" open all the time - 16 years agoAbsolutely. The point of Playhead Sync set to Open is that FCP does the double click for you depending on the playhead position. As soon as you double click any clip, you're disabling the function.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: What's the trick to keeping "playhead sync" open all the time - 16 years agoNeed more detail about what you're doing. How are you moving on to the next shot?by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Flip 4 Mac to create Wave Media Player files for online viewing - 16 years agoYep they fixed it in a beta version that works great. http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_beta_register.htmby digitalheaven - Café LA Re: After downloading fcp6 can't use numberpad on key board - 16 years agoIf you haven't already, do a Software Update. There was an update released this week: ==================== Pro Application Support 4.0.2 This update addresses issues with keyboard interface reliability for Apple's professional applications and is recommended for all users of Final Cut Studio.by digitalheaven - The Bug Report Re: L shaped symbol and Purple band missing? - 16 years agoView > Show Overlays or Control-Option-Wby digitalheaven - Café LA |
