If it's the latter, then you have to select the clip first before FCP will allow you to edit the marker.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: FCP switch to Avid Express How Hard? - 16 years agoVery funny Jude! Definitely one to look forward to. Really amazing how they manage to turn Avid negatives into positives...by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: VARIABLE SPEED RAMPING IN FCP5HD - 17 years agoYes, see p315 in the manual.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Why is HD 960x720 instead of 1280x720? - 17 years agoEasiest thing is to set up a custom preset in Compressor to do an export to square pixel TIF. Unfortunately you can't do JPEGs from Compressor (sadly even in v3 from looking at the specs).by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: ProRes 422? - 17 years agoI highly doubt it. Final Cut Server is very much based around the idea of using low res proxies on Windows rather than the full res clips. That way the lack of DVCPROHD, HDV, DV50 etc QT codecs on Windows ceases to become a problem.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: What Control Surface Do You Use? - 17 years agoControl surfaces on Color are not a problem at all: Tangent Devices CP-100 Tangent Devices CP-200 There's also the JL Cooper devices but it's unlikely that a high-end colourist would be happy with those, they are nowhere near the quality (or indeed price) of the Tangent stuff.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: NAB: Apple VS Avid - 17 years agoAgreed but they've been needing to do that for at least the past five years and haven't. By the time they get around to it, FCP will be so far ahead (in both feature set and market share) that it won't be worth the effort. At this rate, it's more likely that FCP will get a total rewrite before the Avid range does... Support for listing of clip markers in browser clips is on the way...by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: exporting XML with non-drop timecode - 17 years agoWe may be in PAL land but 65%+ of our customers are in the US, so of course we have to build our products to handle drop/non-drop frame TC. Elise, send me the XML - info@digital-heaven.co.uk - and I'll be happy to take a look.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: ProRes 422? - 17 years agoJeff ProRes 422 is not just for HD, you can use it for SD too.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: OT: Wired talks lafcpug - 17 years agoCongratulations Mike, this is great. See you again at NAB!by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Swap/shuffle edits - 17 years agoep4 of our Hot Tips podcast covers this: http://www.digital-heaven.co.uk/podcast/by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Needing something to create good, clear screen recordings - 17 years agoI used to use Snapz Pro but started having lots of problems with it. Tech support never answered my emails so I gave up and moved on to iShowU which is MUCH better. The problem with Snapz Pro is that it captures to it's own file format first and after you've hit stop, transcodes to the codec you choose. This can be painfully slow. In contrast, iShowU does a straight capture to the codec and tby digitalheaven - Café LA Re: fcp shortcuts on macbook pro - 17 years agoYou need to change a preference: System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Check "Use the F1-F12 keys to control software features" The volume and screen brightness etc can now be accessed by holding the Fn key down.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Set in-out duration through keyboard.... - 17 years agoAssuming you have the Canvas window (not timeline) active, this is another way: - Set the in point as normal - Press Tab - Type in the duration you want and press return or enter (no need to deduct a frame)by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Split Screen editing in Final Cut Pro 5.1 - 17 years agoHi Jude Yes, DH_Box can be used for doing that because it has independent X and Y scale sliders.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Split Screen editing in Final Cut Pro 5.1 - 17 years agoand if you do this a lot, then you owe it to yourself to check out our DH_Box plug-in which will make your life a lot easier.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Digital Cinema Preview stretched? - 17 years agoSo it looks correct in the Canvas but vertically squashed through DCDP?by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Can this be nested? - 17 years agoIts not an idiotic question at all and nesting should work fine but I don't think it's really necessary. Dissolves on the fill or matte seem to work as you'd expect when Travel Matte mode is used.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: FCP trimming questions - 17 years agoThat's absolutely right. You had me worried there for a sec :-)by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: FCP trimming questions - 17 years agoIt means you're in shuffle mode, so the option key was pressed after starting to drag a clip.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: FCP trimming questions - 17 years agoSorry, no idea then, it's always worked fine for me.by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Inserting multiple clips without leaving a gap - 17 years agoThanks!by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Inserting multiple clips without leaving a gap - 17 years agoSorry perhaps I wasn't clear, do you have any unselected clips between your first and last selected clip or are you selecting a bunch of consecutive clips?by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: FCP trimming questions - 17 years agoAfter dragging, you're definitely releasing the mouse button first and then releasing the option key?by digitalheaven - Café LA Re: Inserting multiple clips without leaving a gap - 17 years agoMy guess is that your clip selection has gaps in it: - For example with clips 1-4 in a sequence - If you select clips 3 & 4 and do a shuffle edit to move them before clip 1 then you get 3/4/1/2. - If you select clips 2 & 4 and do a shuffle edit to move them before clip 1 then you get 2/GAP/4/1/GAP/3. AFAIK it's not possible to get the audio scrubbing when directly trimming an edit point in the timeline. As you've discovered, the only place you can get audio scrubbing while trimming is in the Trim Edit Window with JKL/Dynamic Trim or by moving the playhead and remarking the in/out points. 2. AFAIK what you want to do (and I know exactly what you're looking for) is not possible in FCP. Ifby digitalheaven - Café LA |
