Re: DVD player burner went bad on G5 anyone - 17 years agomacsales.com has DVD players for the towers. They even sell certain ones with the front bezel off. But you can pop the bezel off yourself anyways. You can find one there for under $60. -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: HD Issue - 17 years agoFlatten the layers. Make sure color space is RGB. see if that helps. -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: maximum Project-file size in 5.1.2? - 17 years agoI was not on an intel, but a dual G5 2.0. But I know someone who was on a MacBook Pro (which is supposed to be faster or just as fast as the dual 2.0) and her project file was around 200mb and she had some problems with random crashing and etc. When she removed enough sequences to get it down around 40mb, it was behaving better. But she still had some crashing while rendering issues. It turby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: maximum Project-file size in 5.1.2? - 17 years agoI believe it was. Could've been 5.1. Don't recall exactly. It was a blur. CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: FCP Center Guides - 17 years agoYes it is indeed an editing app but one reason Apple boast about is its ability to work in graphics and effects so much better than Avid (it's true.) So according to their own reasoning, it really should have guides, grids, and snappable guides like Motion or DVDSP. -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: maximum Project-file size in 5.1.2? - 17 years agoI would definitely keep it under 100mb. Around 50mb is possible. That's fro my experiences from working on lots of docs and reality shows. Deleting sequences is one effective way to shrink the project file size. You don't have to delete them per say, just move them to an archived project file so you can retrieve them at a later point if you so need. -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: Do I still need to settle for less with Compressor? - 17 years agoThe most current version of Compressor has fixed the 2 pass VBR issue. Just used it on a 100 min doc a few weeks ago. No Problems. -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: AVID Media Composer and FCP on the Same Machine - 17 years agoyou'd be much better off installing Avid on a different partition. Usually, Avid is much slower to update their software for new QT and Mac OS releases. With 2 partitions, you can upgrade for FCP without having the fear of breaking Avid with the new updates. That what I do. CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: Media Manager, Media Limit? - 17 years agoNot sure about the display but you can do it in two passes. -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: Setting up to digitize 300 hours of footage - 17 years agoI would just capture at full rez without redundancy and hope for the best. Sound like your an indie project and can't afford good raid drives. Check these out. Cheap... -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: New mac pro, Tiger 10.4.8, fcp 5.1.2, aja kona 3..totally unimpressed - 17 years agoI would run the Hardware test disc on it. Sound like maybe you have some bad parts and may have to send it back. Intel Macs run fine today. As long as the software is universal, which includes FCP Studio and the current OS. I know this isn't much help, but I've been on Intel Towers that do rip. There is NO REASON it should fail to boot up and beach ball and dropped frames on simple pby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: FCP 5.1.2 AND MAC MINI REVISION B - 17 years agoThe hard drive in a Mac Mini is 5400RPM and this is not supported by FCP. It likes 7200rpm at least on a fullsize drive. And if the graphic card supported? If he doesn't believe the forum, then he can pay for $150/hr as a professional consultant to tell him the same thing. -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: Best-Cheapest places for Memory - 17 years agoI like to use macsales.com.by Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: Find NEXT not Find All - 17 years agoNick Meyers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Chi-Ho, are you now saying you can search the > browser for markers? > that didnt work for me (not at FCP right now to > check) > how would you like FCP to show all markers? > as subclips? Yes you can but only if you use Find Next instead of Find All in the Find Window. Try it - add a few mby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Find NEXT not Find All - 17 years agoThis is odd and makes no sense. But by using Find Next, you can search for clip markers in the Browser and you can continue the search by using Find Again. Obviously this is slow and you have to search one at a time and have to start from the top of the Browser so you won't miss one. So if FCP can search for Markers one at a time, it then must be possible for it to search for ALL Markers.by Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: How do you get pecan tree sap off of the laptop? - 17 years agoor Goo Gone. It's natural and citrus as Scott mentioned before. -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: Workaround to search for Markers in Browser - 17 years agoWhat's a soft subclip?by Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: Workaround to search for Markers in Browser - 17 years agoThanks for checking Derek. It's not reliable at all since I can't even replicate what you did. What version are you on? -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Workaround to search for Markers in Browser - 17 years agoHey All, Surprisingly, (or perhaps not), you can not search for a marker inside the browser window. Interestingly enough, if you add text in the Marker Comment field in the Marker Window, that entry appears in the Master Comment 1 column. But for some reason the text entry in this Master Comment 1 column is not searchable with the Find feature. This is a big hindrance on doc work, IMHO.by Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: may i reiterate WHY i HATE laCie... - 17 years agoSo who makes good FW drives? CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: "CRIKEY" - Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin - R.I.P. - 17 years agoIt is indeed tragic. As someone who edits a lot of natural history docs, I appreciate all his hard work on breathing a new life into the "old and stuffy" field of animal docs and for making animal relative subjects fun and popular. Just yesterday, I used the keyframe editor to ramp down my music. Then I needed to export as a QT movies. The ramp down didn't export - the music just got chopped off when it should've ramped down. I was able to confirm with a buddy that this is an existing bug. How bout a feature of just fixing 50% of the existing bugs! CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Motion Re: animated mask question? - 18 years agonot only annoying but potentially screwing up your animation. Do you know why the whole mask is moving? -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Motion Re: animated mask question? - 18 years agoHey Mark, It does work- meaning it will wipe in or out the object. But if you have the mask selected so you can see the red border, watch the mask as you play thru. And also in the inspector, you can see that the position and the scale have been animated. The key is to watch the mask as you play through and you should be able to see what I mean. I guess I would like to wipe it in more likby Chi-Ho Lee - Motion Re: animated mask question? - 18 years agoMark, This is Chi-Ho Lee, we met out in NAB. My question is: draw a mask and animate the right edge it to wipe from right to left to wipe away a pic. Watch it in playback. The left edge of the mask will slide right and then back to its original start point. I find that weird! I'm asking if there is a way to lock the left edge so it won't slide at all. -Chi-Hoby Chi-Ho Lee - Motion animated mask question? - 18 years agoHey all, I'm using a mask to reveal a lower third as a wipe. I'm using the Animation Record button to do this. When I adjust the right edge, the actual size of the mask is changing as well?? I wasn't able to lock the left corners and animate just the right edges. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks, CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - Motion Feature Request - 18 years agoThe FCP Forum has a feature request thread - I figure DVDSP should gave one too. 1) Ability to lock Markers. Those guys are so easy to move by accident. 2) Better timeline navigation. The Apple +/- shortcut to zoom in and out aren't very sensitive. They jump in way too much. -CHLby Chi-Ho Lee - DVD Studio Pro Re: A better way to make custom buttons? - 18 years agoThat's right, Wong Kar Wai - Why can't you make Crap like Michael Bay?by Chi-Ho Lee - DVD Studio Pro |
