I'd email one of the guys from the very popular Scriptnotes podcast they'd be sure to know. I believe many studios have avoided legal action by changing names, details, plot-points etc. But then in the case of 'Premium Rush' released last year they lifted not only the story and characters but also actual lines of dialogue from the book all without the authors prior knowledge or consent. Hi all, I'm about to discuss with a potential client editing a trailer for their feature shot on RED EPIC and it's been almost 3 years since i've participated in FCP-RED workflow. I run OSX 10.8.2, 2.7GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 2012 Macbook Pro would I even be able to handle the rushes with this set-up? Data recovery is often too expensive an option BUT i did have success getting ALL of my hard drive's contents back this year after a drive failure. After all the eye watering quotes and almost criminal fees, i found a local laptop shop guy who did it for £30. Small shop, nothing corporate, but he really knew his stuff and saved my bacon big time, maybe hunt locally? Needless to say i now bby Wanted Man - Café LA

Quite right you are Derek, although as mentioned "You may well receive much better advice here" et-al . . . given the lack of information regarding the shot i thought the workflow may be worth a mention, just something i've rolled with in the past to great success (locked shot/tripod plate, no movement) . . hence the inclusion of texture/particle overlays to blend the shot and add thatby Wanted Man - Café LA

Hey slomoray, You may of well received from what i can read, much better advice here, but i have had success on shots using the following technique in FCP although it'll also require photoshop knowledge, it'll also only work if you have a locked shot. - Take a still of the plate in the timeline via export conversion - still image - Cut out/artwork the foreground layer off the still imageby Wanted Man - Café LA

these people are a nightmare. i was in a situation where all allocated time had been used. but they continued to want changes, to the point of it being almost a completely different film all together - changes that basically constituted a complete re-edit. all this was happening right by my side with an argumentative ego battle going on between the director and the producer, with me mediatiby Wanted Man - Café LA

lets just keep in mind that this advert isn't alone - it's got company. in just two days of looking for work online i've seen many like it in the same 'budget' realm. so . there are people out there, there are actually people expecting work done for free. $20?? may as well say 2 cents. and the weirdest thing is people are still applying for it. like i say, over 20 apps on that last one. i kby Wanted Man - Café LA

Hi - i've been scouting around to get some freelance work in and on certain sites i'm frequently seeing 'budgets' of $20-$25. WTF? is this normal?? Thats basically doing it for free!!!! While working in FCP7 this morning for the first time ever i had this notification pop up upon trying to save my current project file . . . "The project has been modified externally. If another user is working on it, saving will overwrite their changes. Do you still want to save?" I don't recall but mate - really It's very easy - you just use the search function on youtube and/or google or spend 3 mins looking at the creative cow website. I can't remember the exact names of the channels i found tutorials on, also theres a site called lynda or linda.com that has tutorials on just about everything.
