You should check RedUser forum for info like that: But REDrocket won't work in FCP. It will work in REDcine-x and some other apps to accelerate debayering.by JustinB - Café LA

Every now and again I'm right about something . Actually it's somewhat non-intuitive in my opinion. And I don't think it used to work like that (could be wrong.) ------- Re: "grep." The right-clicking on the column (after selecting all the clips themselves in the Browser) is working for me here in FCP 7. It brings up shortcuts to select, and changes them all. As far as Automator, I was thinking towards changing the file metadata instead of just the project metadata. Assuming that's possible for field order. Love your XML find and replace recipe though. All the MX02s do the calibration. The Mini is already qualified to work with Avid MC 5. Might be something to consider. But the Mini adds pulldown to 23.98 on output, doesn't hardware scale RED 2k to 1080, and the audio is unbalanced. Oh and no SDI or RS-422 of course. I guess that's a pretty big difference . I wish Avid would hurry up and qualify some more capable cards. As far as GPUsby JustinB - Café LA

Obviously the ideal way would be to batch change the metadata. Wish there was an Automator action to change the field order property. The Shuttle works via USB 3.0, which Macs can't do yet. You might want to look at the Intensity Pro, which is just as cheap. Just not as slick looking. And I think it might be limited to 8-bit (not sure.)by JustinB - Café LA

I have this theory that FCP is going through a tortured upgrade process not dissimilar from the history of OS X, with false starts and changed directions. Mind you, I have no evidence whatsoever to support this theory.by JustinB - Café LA

So that whole rumor seems to have gone full circle--AppleInsider getting a ton of unwarranted hits in the process. Avid and Adobe lapping it up I'm sure. Fortunately these days there are enough good, affordable editing options out there that it's hard to get worked up too much about about a single vendor changing direction (or actually not changing direction.) Awesome Cut Pro?, the new hub of Kickass Studio: Whopper Edition. Oddly, one of the job requirements posted mentions knowledge of Smoke and Lustre. Not exactly prosumer software. AI is so full of sh|t sometimes. What I do believe, is that with the whole Adobe/Flash thing, FCS has Jobs' full and undivided attention. It must kill him that FCP is not just stuck in 32-bit Carbon here in 2010,by JustinB - Café LA

Keep in mind, the RED plugins are Intel only, and he's on a G5. If the guy won't re-debayer to ProRes 422 720p or DVCPro HD, you'll just have to transcode them yourself. And if you do, use Compressor not FCP MM. Do a test first to make sure all the metadata is coming through as expected (it should.) Either way, it's a short, so doing an overnight transcode or debayer shouldn't be a huge tasby JustinB - Café LA

Echoing what Michael quoted, I asked about supporting other NLEs at the Avid press event and they seemed confident in quashing the idea of making Euphonix devices Avid-only. They claim they're going in the other direction, pushing for an open control protocol.by JustinB - Café LA

Like Michael said, it's just a matter of time before we see USB for Mac. Hopefully at NAb 2011 or 2012 we'll start seeing Light Peak. The UltraStudio Pro is really slick design. And frankly I could use some bigger audio meters.by JustinB - Café LA
