Re: Octocore released... ? - 17 years agoI was kind of thinking Apple might have an HDMI input and output on these machines and also new displays with HDMI Guess Not.by Dean - Café LA Re: Edit to Tape is not showing up on tape playback and getting dropped frames. - 17 years agoHey we might have set a Guinness World record with this thread we could keep it going if we wanted to be in the record books Anyway the main reason for dropped frames is normally not the ram but the throughput of the hard drive.by Dean - Café LA Re: Edit to Tape is not showing up on tape playback and getting dropped frames. - 17 years agoHey Andy is probably right. I was looking at the camera for what I could tell it should have a remote control like many VCR's maybe it is the only way to get the camera in playback or record mode. Do you have a remote for it? Since it is a discontinued (consumer)model it's hard to find info on it.by Dean - Café LA Re: Edit to Tape is not showing up on tape playback and getting dropped frames. - 17 years agoI'd look around on the camera I had an old Sony Digi 8 that you could only see the controls when it was in VCR mode and on. I couldn't find a good image of your camera to see where the controls are. Like on my Canon GL2 the controls are under a flap on the top handle. Esy to miss.by Dean - Café LA Re: Edit to Tape is not showing up on tape playback and getting dropped frames. - 17 years agoYou may have to hit Play on the camera then Pause then the Record button then the Pause button again to get it rolling in VCR mode. See if that works. You may just have to hit Record and Play at the same time. It depends on the cameraby Dean - Café LA Mac Pro Sleds - 17 years agoThese look pretty cool for archiving a project and maybe sending it off to your client. Mac Pro multiple drive sled ships Trans International today began shipping its Pro Sled Mac Pro hard disk drive sled, offering users the ability to swap out hard drives for a Mac Pro system. Users can assign and label drives for different clients, projects, or backup purposes to avoid misplacing databy Dean - Café LA Re: Recording isight video into FCP? - 17 years agoIn QuickTime Pro you can record new movie and import into FCP but you have to, after recording to QT export a movie to Quicktime movie and set output to your Final Cut settings. For recording go into preferences (not QT Preferences there are 2 ) and click on the recording tab and change quality tab to device native.by Dean - Café LA Re: Scratch Drive Replacement - 17 years agoDaniel Get any ATA drive other then Maxtor (but in a pinch it would be OK,) that you can find around 128 GIGs You can get bigger but your Mac won't see any more without that sonnet card. You'll need to set the jumpers to slave Look on the drive it will show you. I like the Seagates or Western Digital. You can screw it on the plate above the drive you have now it's easy. Since that's what we call them.by Dean - Café LA Re: Cleanest Font for Credit Roll ? - 17 years agoRemember not to use 100% white Good NTSC white is 90%; if on a black background, it should be kept to 80% white. this may help from Kenstone.netby Dean - Café LA Re: FCP5.1.4 maintenance release update out now - 17 years agoI just got back from Florida today, well last night, I ran updater today and the all my updates worked fine except the FCP update and I thought it was FCP 5.1.3 I'm pretty sure it was, so I restarted ran Software update again and it downloaded 5.1.4 and all went well. So If you run Software Update and it fails on the FCP update restart and run it again. Or am I just suffering from Jet Lag?by Dean - Café LA OT Re: Creating Hollywood Spot Lights Effect - 17 years agoQuoteI thought Bayshore Drive ran through Downtown Miami past the American Airlines Arena to the cruise ships? You know it might be Bayshore Ave or Road in Fort Lauderdale. Anyway I could have done without the cold snap as it's been cold enough in California.by Dean - Café LA Re: Creating Hollywood Spot Lights Effect - 17 years agoThat looks really Nice Joe It makes me want to go swim at bayshore drive Fort Lauderdale Glad the cold snap is gone.by Dean - Café LA Re: DVD player burner went bad on G5 anyone - 17 years agoInternals are cheaper and really not to hard to put in. I think the hardest part is taking the front bezel off the front of the tray. I put a Pioneer DVR 109 in my G 5 and works great it's dual layer and cost me $69.00 You could always put it in an external drive.by Dean - Café LA Re: Capture or playback from Canon XL-H1 not working - 17 years agoYou could send your Question to Daniel Berube at the Boston Final Cut Group he works for Canon and I'm sure he would know the answer. dan@noisybrain.comby Dean - Café LA Re: re: Voodoo with Photoshop documents? - 17 years agoThis is also where Boris Graffiti excels.by Dean - Café LA Re: Digital blood - 17 years agoYea My son used to do the Red food coloring in Kayro syrup and scare the hell out of people. If you need a lot of it the Kayro would get expensive and you could probably buy a lot of Sugar and make simple syrup by boiling 2 parts sugar to 1 parts water. you might need 3 parts sugar to make it thicker and then add food coloring. What ever you have left over could be used in making Daiquiri's.by Dean - Café LA Re: Hard Drive Republican - 17 years agoThe drive manufacturers could go back to giving you 500 MB drives for $1000.00 so be thankful. I guess. I think the cost of a gig is like $0.50 now.by Dean - Café LA Re: OSX sleep issues / basic maintenance (clarification question) - 17 years agoI use Mac Janitor on my powerbook that does get shut down all though I haven't shut it down in a while as I am folding@home on it. Folding@Home is a distributed computing project -- people from through out the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer makes the project closer to our goals. How do I switch back to classic? - 17 years agoIt sounds like OS 9 system folder got hosed.(Maybe) You need to find a way to reboot into OS 9 it depends on your G4 an older one you should be able to hold down the option key on a restart and when you see the OS 9 system folder click on it and then hit the arrow button. If you don't see the OS 9 system then you need to reinstall it. OS 9 has been dead for over 5 years it may be time to upgradby Dean - Café LA Re: OT: SuperMeet - 17 years agoMichael Horton Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I took lots of bad pictures but took beautiful > Highway 1 back to LA and got lots of really good > pictures of the Central Coast and Elephant Seals. > We taped the show. My friend seems to think he used to be able to do it in Premier and it just doesn't seem right to me. Sure you could over lap them and set transparency to do it but just to drop an effect on????by Dean - Café LA Re: running out of room so....External Drive? - 17 years agoTo Paul unless your partner has a SATA card in his machine I would stick to Firewire with ATA for portability he will also need a machine with FW 800 if you want to go that route.by Dean - Café LA |
