Re: Exporting for Broadcast - 9 years agoStrypes!! You are the man!! I was waiting for your help brother! Thx for showing up!by TroyChristian - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Exporting for Broadcast - 9 years agoHey All - Switched fro FCP 7 to Premiere 6. Trying to export the best quality movie for broadcast. The piece was shot on 7D's and edited in a sequence that match those settings. My client wants the piece delivered with a .mov extension. the only place I can find that setting says it will export in 720 by 480. And the "Broadcast" settings are all H.264. Can anyone help me get this oby TroyChristian - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Log and Transfer - 9 years agoYeah the subtle differences between FCP7 and Premiere are a bit of an adjustment for me - my eyes are so used to "seeing" all of the telltale signs in FCP. I miss things in Premiere as they are called something else or the shortcuts a re different. Oh the learning curve after 13 years of FCP... I bought 2 AVID licenses and the curve is even steeper for me. Have you chosen to migraby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Log and Transfer - 9 years agoPremiere CS6. So when you export in Premiere you chose settings each time I would presume?by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Log and Transfer - 9 years agoI didn't try that - I should have. Interesting about Premiere and match settings - I am new to Premiere and don't have my head wrapped around it tightly yet. After the second failed attempt I went to P2 Log pro and was successful so I didn't do any follow up experiments as I had client over shoulder and the media was on his drive. So once out of the hot seat I was out the door!! Stir - ress - fulby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Log and Transfer - 9 years agoDropped it into Premiere as my first option. It saw it and played it perfectly. I tried to export it using "match sewuence settings". It to the 15 minutes to export it (I was giddy that my first attempt at fixing the situation was gonna work) and then suddenly crapped out at the very end with no export. Tried again with the same result. Opened in P2 Log Pro and ingested - first try baby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Log and Transfer - 9 years agoFYI - P2Log Pro was the answer. The last spanned clip was corrupt and P2LP allowed me to ingest the second to last incomplete clip where FCP would not nor P2 PCMS nor Premier Pro. FWIWby TroyChristian - Café LA Log and Transfer - 9 years agoHey all - I shot on P2 cards yesterday and the client is doing the log and transfer using FCP. There is one clip that he can see and hear but can't get it to transfer. I suggested making sure that all of the A Cam folders were open in case it was a spanned file. He said he tried that. Is there another issue at hand and is there a way to get this footage to transfer? Thanks!by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: From FCP to AVID - your experience* - 10 years agoAll great info people - just wanted to chime in with a thank you ... Bought Avid but have found it easier to jump into Premiere as Joe said - the AE connection for those of us used to vfx ing in FCP Suite has been an easier transition for me personally. I'll need to take this thread as an inspiration to dive in to MComposer a little deeper. thanks again ...by TroyChristian - Avid Media Composer Lichtenstein look - 10 years agoAnyone have any tricks to creating this look? I have FCP, AE, Photoshop, Premiere ... I also have the Sapphire Filters. I am aware this is based around the "halftone" filter. I have checked online tutorials and they have all required drawing and tracking in Illustrator or Photoshop. Not my strong suit nor time effective. Anybody have a quick fix? Know of a great tutorial? Thanks!by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: PAL into 23.98 timeline - 10 years agoyou are right - there is no quick fixby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: PAL into 23.98 timeline - 10 years agoYeah FCP is definitely dropping frames - but the Motion version (Motion being far superior in time remapping) seems to be working ... I'll need to test it in the morning on a different monitoring system to make sure, but at first glance it MIGHT be a quick fix option ... I'll let you know what I learn ... And thanks again for the guidanceby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: PAL into 23.98 timeline - 10 years agoJust did a test and it worked so thank you Nick. I did another test in an attempt to maintain the timecode. I brought the original into a 23.98 Motion Project and exported it as a movie and it seemed to work as well. Is that possible? I am hoping to save timecode but realize it may very well be impossible ...by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: PAL into 23.98 timeline - 10 years agoSo I should transcode the EX to Apple Pro Res 422 in PAL 25fps and then conform in CT then replace edit and eye match in FCP ... Sonds like a long night ahead lol and crying simultaneouslyby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: PAL into 23.98 timeline - 10 years agoSo Nick, I have duplicated the master clip and opened with CT - the conform buttons are not highlighted and I am not able to make any changes in CT. I tried to open from within FCP and directly with CT with the same result. Am I missing a step?by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: PAL into 23.98 timeline - 10 years agocan you use the Conform to Sequence or the Conform 25 to 24 option for this??by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: PAL into 23.98 timeline - 10 years agoXDCAM EX1080i 50 I didn't convert so not sure. I believe Compressor was used for some of it Thanks for your help!! A conversion was done to Apple ProRes 422 HQ and the footage is "skipping" is there an effective way to convert this footage (I have the RAW) to make this footage play nicely? I tried Compressor with the same result. Troyby TroyChristian - Jobs Re: Color and FCP 7.0.3 - 10 years agoThanks! I think I will be exporting the film in sequences and turning off certain layers and then rebuild by dropping them back into my sequence and copying and pasting filters effects etc back onto color corrected clips. Seems like Resolve is the only solution. And I'll try to employ the export workaround that you posted Strypes ... Thanks again!!by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Color and FCP 7.0.3 - 10 years agoWorking in ProRes 422HQ but there are stills, archival footage, Motion Projects, AE files, animations on and on ... So you are saying that Color can't round trip like a Motion or Soundtrack Pro ... hmmmm - that is a bummer - or a big ol' project at least ... At a post house and they have Resolve and Davinci, etc. My problem is that my first time director needed screeners and submissions and the ability to see a final project to make final decisions blah blah blah.
