Dual Screen Menu following - 13 years agoI have dual screens on my machines but when i open an app. and drag it to the other screen the interface moves but the top menu (file/edit/sequence/tools ... ect stays on the main screen. Is there a way to have it move with the app?by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Alpha channel problem ... I guess - 13 years agoWhat kind of file is the grasshopper? (png, obj, mov)by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Using overlays created in Photoshop - 13 years agoMy rule is if you need to do something to the layers of the psd ... go to motion 1st. If not use a exported png or tiff. and if you load a nest to the viewer and click the motion tab you can see the distortion under DISTORTION.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Using AVCHD clips?? - 13 years agoGet CLIPWRAP. and convert your stream file to pro res with that. FCP likes clip wrap. how did you capture? ... L&T? or 3rd party application? And yes explaining how they play would really be nice.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Strange Chroma Key Issue - 13 years agoHave you tried simply using motion to key. I use ta key in FCP all the time but the result was never exactly what i wanted. Motion3 with be my 2nd choice for render and it does a nice job on those edges. the long render is due to your stacking in the v-trks. I would bet that that 2 hours is more like 30-45mins. Never trust what the render says at the beginning. I have seen 3.5hrs turn intby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Mac Upgrade time--but to what? - 13 years agoQuoteJames Second, to throw another option out there. I know someone who just built a Hackintosh. I haven't done much testing of applications, yet. However, I know that others have on other builds with a high rate of success. Here are the details of the system: I have no experience with hackintosh system. But hear is where i would draw the line. With the subject at a distance you would never be able to totally trust the cam settings cause that white is not gonna allow true sight to judge the shoot. The white floor is making light where there should not be. A french box wouldn't even help much. I would get as close as i could to an edge with the tripod. I would put a black felt cloth oby J.Corbett - Show and Tell Re: New Webseries - 13 years agoThe parked scene: the drive is waaayyy too long. the split screen it too static considering the level of acting. Get rid of some of the space between the monolog. Use 2+ camera angles for every seen. I have no idea why he used Kingston. NOTE TO ALL - Kinston sd cards are Greta GARBO. This never happens with my scan disk sdhc.by J.Corbett - Café LA SD card error puzzle - 13 years agomy assistant filmed today and when he was done he checked the clips on the camera (HMC150). When he got to the edit bay. His PC wouldn't recognize the card. Meaning acted as if there had not been any card put into the drive. Sop it did nothing. Which by default i just blame on the fact that he should not have used a pc for anything;-) Then he used a belkin sd reader on his mac. it sad invby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Has anyone tried Footage Firm Music Library? - 13 years agoi have some music from them but as a part time music producer it is often a few similar tracks in there. i would say 3 out of 10 will be much alike. I personally like to use VERY different music for each production. For 85 bucks its a steal. This may not be a step that you would like to make but Reason5 has some extra hot samples that can be easily constructed into a comp. It will cost abouby J.Corbett - Café LA Red2k-3k footage with HMC150 1080 - 13 years agoI am looking to upgrade to the upcoming red scarlet. I have 2 HMC150's now but thought that a red could fit into the picture somehow. I am relatively sure that someone here has seen HMC footage beside or in sequence with red2k. I am wondering how far the match is and how hard is it to tweak the footage to match (assuming the same frame rate). I know i will have to take the 3k down to 1080by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: WARNING - Just did Prokit update. - 13 years agoI did the prokit also and i have stutter on round trip to&from color and i have also seen the png's and psd's kink a little (in Motion though). I never used time machine so i am just stuck. My system drive is not backed up. I just back up media & projects.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Broadcast - to 60p or not 60p - 13 years agoso just add the default 60i preset in compressor with No special recipes?by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Broadcast - to 60p or not 60p - 13 years agoQuotejeff Odds are the network wants 1080i60 from you. But you need to check with them first. Because I guarantee you they have a very strong opinion on the subject. They usually want it in this same manner. Its just i have never shot a commercial using 60fps until now. They really do not broadcast in HD resolutions on this particular cable network. Which seemed like a red flag but i didn'tby J.Corbett - Café LA Broadcast - to 60p or not 60p - 13 years agoI have a project i filmed in 720p60 on the HMC150 > converted to proresHQ > edit TL was same (proressHQ). I have to crunch it to NTSC 720x480 for the network. I normally deliver in 30p or 24p. Are the any issues with the 60p in broadcast? the specs are at my discretion.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Premier Cs5 vs Final Cut - 13 years agoIt seems easier to edit with FCP but i hate all the converting and baking to get smooth play from mixed formats/frame rates. I wish FCP could read the footage > give a report on the amount of each format > then allow us to click the conversion that we wanted > open Compressor process > and roundtrip the clips back to a converted bin. Maybe it does but i haven't found a way.by J.Corbett - Café LA Premier Cs5 vs Final Cut - 13 years agoI have been using premier pro for about a year. Its not my main editor but it does solve a lot of the problems that final cut has yet to work out. Things like... Mixed frames rates getting to AE, Soundbooth or Encore Fast export not bad on the CC either no baking 90% of footage will play as native in realtime FCP has became just a cut machine because i still believe it is the easiby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: OT: Implied Rights on Infomercials - Usage - 13 years agoI dont know if this will help anyone but i have a few really nice clauses somebody might use in a contract. I have had my terms and conditions go through 4 lawyers in 5 years. It is now written in 8pt. use ta' be 12pt and 2/3rds of a page. I remember all the tricks and hiding i did to create better quality 1/6th chip, slightly off focus, badly lit scenes edited with imovie, while saving all files to the same 250gig stock drive. I have never been in a production class that lasted more than 3months. I think that the next time i get ready to drop the D-word i will replace it with SHOWER CONTAINER. I think its stronger. hahahahaha Anyway. They are gonna talk to the lawyer on monday to see what is what. I have seen the contract and i think he has nothing to restrict that.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: OT - Monitor Specs - Key stats - 13 years agoQuoteD-Mac I suspect the model you aren't specifically mentioning (just showing part of the specs) is the Viewsonic VX2739wm. Good Call. I have an external plasma on a decklink for monitoring and i have been using a 22" Viewsonic TN Monitor that now give me green dust and some kind of squiggly group of gnats floating around lately. I got this *** EDITED BY MODERATOR *** editor who was trying to stop me from reediting a spot he did for a company. The spot was a joke on The Ellen Show last week. Now he thinks he has struck gold and wants to limit the company from allowing this reedit. The purpose of the spot is to Broadcast on say, HortonNetworks. The spot does actually air and then the client wants to air it in another market. Can the producer restrict that client from using that spot if that restriction is not expressed in the contract that ACB Inc. signed? And remember that first years often don't even know what timecode is, can't see black flashes they have made, don't understand crossing the line, or colour temperature, or what a grab is, or how you can have more than one channel of audio, or almost anything about production. I am currently on a 50000:1 viewsonic. i was told that this contrast ratio was very critical to color. There are other spec that stand out to me also such as connections and this ms thing which i think has something to do with motion response. On 500. plus screens i sby J.Corbett - Café LA |
